Carmilla’s guilty pleasures...hm. Pop music is the one everyone uses in fanfics, so that, obviously. The 19th century probably gave her a taste for the more sentimental class of romance novels, but she’d never admit it.

Maybe like B horror movies, too. Just really bad, schlocky vintage trash with bright orange fake blood being spewed everywhere and the most wooden, unbelievable acting ever. That’s what she and Laura were watching at the beginning of the movie. It wasn’t Hammer; it was an almost totally forgotten low-budget mess called Chainsaw Lake: The Bloodening that you can only get on VHS.

(The killer is a vampire duck who can somehow wield a chainsaw. It’s a twist nobody ever saw coming.)

Hmm.  That’s a good question, @ghastlydisco.  I know there have been a few, but trying to think of the titles off the top of my head so that I can actually find them is more difficult than I would have thought.  lol

To be fair, there have been several installments of the 80s Mixtape AU that have smacked @piratekane and me with the feelings pretty damn hard.  But I assume you are asking about fics I’ve read that I wasn’t also a part of.

As I said, there have certainly been a few along the way.  But I’m gonna go with one that stands out to me because it was one of the first Wayhaught fics I ever read, and so also one of the first that ever made me tear up.send me away with the words of a love song by @skillzyo and @officerhaughtstuff

It’s beautifully written, and everyone should read it.

43. What have you learned about yourself this year that you didn’t know in the years prior?

This year I learned that no matter how much I want to be in a relationship and have that connection with someone, I’m not in the right place (possibly even the right city) for that. I also learned what friendship means and kind of took the year to figure out who were my actual friends (about 3 people) and who had moved on in their lives. 

But the biggest thing I learned this year is that I want to enter the filming/creating world. I want to bring better wlw stories to the big and small screens. I want to show true women, I want to show bigger women, I want to show more WOC, I want to show what depression means and I want to create a better world for ALL wlw. I’ve got a webseries in the works with my friend Nicole, which I’ll be posting about in the New Year. I’ve been working on another webseries that I think many of my readers will be happy to hear about in the new year as well as a movie idea. So I learned I want to create and be behind the camera and I hope in 2018 that is exactly what I’m starting to do.
