I really struggled with this one when first making this #fakemon for the Sanova region. We went through idea after idea and finally I took a while away from it and thought about the mananagaal and how striking it is.

What do you think of the Ghost Grass? It has began to spread outside of the Shadow Lands to Qarth, could it be a sign of the coming of the Others of them crossing the wall?
Ghost grass? I don't remember what that is, let me search:
"Down in the Shadow Lands beyond Asshai, they say there are oceans of ghost grass, taller than a man on horseback with stalks as pale as milkglass. It murders all other grass and glows in the dark with the spirits of the damned. The Dothraki claim that someday ghost grass will cover the entire world, and then all life will end.” --AGOT
"It is said that the glass candles are burning in the house of Urrathon Night-Walker, that have not burned in a hundred years. Ghost grass grows in the Garden of Gehane, phantom tortoises have been seen carrying messages between the windowless houses on Warlock’s Way... These are strange times in Qarth." --ACOK
Well, that's it for mentions of ghost grass. Uh, that's not exactly wild spreading. Nor is it particularly reminiscent of the Others.
I think, if anything, it's a sign that magic is increasing in the world, that the warlocks of Qarth can do tricks they haven't been able to do in 100 years. The ghost grass is one example of many, of Xaro Xhoan Daxos saying "weird shit is going on in my city, and it's your fault, please leave."
I think there's some connection between the ghost grass (which the Dothraki believe holds the souls of the damned, stamp out other kinds of grass, and will cover the earth at the end of the world) and the Others...?
