A headcannon for the BloodyMary ship of Simon from Iron Lung and Ryland Grace

Since Eridians speak in musical like tones I was thinking what singing would sound like to them. Obviously it wouldn't be their words unless by extremely rare accident, since its a specific language in orders and its often described as multiple notes as once. But TONE matters.

Rocky, when talking about how his ships crew died (bad bad bad), his tone is lowered, even to the point that Grace has to adjust the translator program he is using for it to recognize the words.

So if someone sang, it would just be, like, pure transmission of emotion. And if someone like Simon sang (who im gonna say has the same vocal range and skills as Mark who sings in a very nice low range), it would probably sound very sad and somber to them.

If you have a swap au style thing for Project Hail Mary where Grace is an eridian and Rocky is a human then Grace would totally have an aid similar to glasses.

Since their hearing is audio and vibration style thingy (and I know this doesn't translate well) but I imagine a headband style thing that keeps mini dish/horn circular things close to his carapace to help make the sound louder, like old timey hearing aids. It'll slip around and be worn wrong just like his glasses, if he remembers them at all

Thu king about writing a BloodyMary fic where Simon is from an old space colony group that was sent out by a private group ages ago when they had seen flickers of the petrova line, and due to time dilation I dont understand he is out there as a second generation of it, in the thick of the starless area and the whole Iron Lung thing whenever Ryland is on his way to Erid.

On the flip, because of Rockys mission being gone for so long, the remaining eridians send out a similarly resource seeking ship to the blood moon Simon is stuck on with Adrian on it. They could be like, an Eridian Biology or Zoology professional who is going to try and get what they can from this moon that has weird signals from it. They save Simon and come back to their planet very briefly before Rocky and Ryland come back too, and so there's already a biodome Simon is on, that they use while building a conjoined one for Ryland for him tk stay in while rehabilitating and furnishing with their newly available Earth Flora

Maybe with Simon's access to Radioactive machinery could mean by the time Roxjy gets back they have discovered why his crew had passed and also it made Adrian think he was dead too, so the reunion is even better, as well as allowing them to make even crazier tech that could lead to sendjng back messages to earth and back better!

No because actually when Grace is on Erid something about the atmosphere and the chemicals of this place slowly rock-ify him till hes some humanoid Eridian amd looks like Rockys mini-grace
