Ghostrick Mary

The first thing you see when you look at this card is Mary herself, in her ancient and ripped (yet vibrant!) dress and the bandages across her forehead, on her wrist, and around her neck. Which is all fine and pretty fitting (just missing the "bloody" part of her inspiration), but you know what's extremely neat and even more interesting? The vanity her image appears in. Sure, you might look at it and think it's just a cartoony piece of furniture, but look again. Do you see the decorative arms that hold up the mirror? Do you see how they're literally posing? Good. I love how expressive it is for absolutely no apparent reason, especially since it appears to be flexing. Back to Mary: what's tripping me up about her expression/pose is that it looks like she's panicking, like she's trapped in the mirror against her will, when the intention was probably that she's absolutely pissed and trying to get out to, you know, do Bloody Mary stuff. Either way, I suppose it's fitting (the "trapped" interpretation kinda fits with the flexing mirror, anyway).
