Interesting fact: if you read "Ghosts of Ascalon"

In Fields of Ruin you can occasionally meet one of the characters from the book, Gullik Oddsson, near Piles of Stones (Hero Challenge) and pay respects to his fallen friend - and here I'm not going to spoil but it's so damn sad :')

Thinking about how I still have my old Polish copy of the Ghosts of Ascalon book, and it's really funny how the charr were translated - "popielec/popielcy" (closest to "the ashen", "ashlings") which actually sounds good imo. The funny part really starts when you try to get the feminine version, though. "Popielica". Sounds okay, except...

Something something, the all-encompassing motif of cycles, the cat becomes the (edible dor)mouse.

Ghosts of Ascalon is the kind of novel in which characters are disarmed mid-fight no less than nine times. On three separate occasions we are graced with a Marvel-esque “He’s right behind me, isn’t he?” gag. 

10/5, love the nostalgic Guild Wars lore dumps, would read if disconnected from the internet again.

Having finished Ghosts of Ascalon I am convinced of the following things

It’s much better than Edge of Destiny (duh) though I wish it had taken a bit more time to establish relationships between the characters the way EoD did.

Kileen was perfect and beautiful and deserved better.

Riona and Dougal were, at one point, totally fucking.

I was not prepared for Kranxx. 

Why did no one tell me about Kranxx?

Kileen deserved better.

Riona had every intention of getting a little more of that somethin’ somethin from Dougal.

The Fields of Ruin will never be easy to map complete again.

Where the fuck is half the places they traveled actually on the Guild Wars 2 map? South. West. East. Breh where are you even going?

Did I mention that Kileen deserved better?

Also I want the hairstyle they described Kileen as having to become available for player models. Chop chop give me orchid braids.
