Media Log? I guess - Guitar Hero: World Tour
I'm gonna do a media log like @maybe-not-a-robot does. mainly just because I want to talk about GHWT. I might do more of the GH/RB games as I've played through most of them. I should preface that I haven't played through the career mode, but i have a decent amount of time in it's quickplay, and A LOT of time in other games in both its series and Rock Band. This game fucking sucks. Okay, well wouldn't say like SUCKS. It's Guitar Hero and as such is a pretty good game even if it's easily the worst in the series. It's presentation is honestly, kind of the worst, especially compared to the game prior (Guitar Hero III) and the game after (Guitar Hero Metallica). Graphically, this game is dogwater. It's not stylized enough to overcome its downfalls like GH3, and nowhere near good looking enough like the games afterword. The venues are nicely designed overall, even with the overall pretty bad visuals, but nowhere near as iconic as GH3 and later games had even better designed venues with much better graphics and visual effects. I love the Times Square New Years venue though, even if it seems to run kinda bad. Ozzy Osbourne does look pretty good in this game and the physics on his hair are pretty nice. Ozzy is also just a cool ass guy and Crazy Train is an amazing song. The song choices in general are pretty cool, and having Michael Jackson in a Guitar Hero game is fucking awesome.
The game (from what i've played on Wii and PS3) feels weird. The game definitely struggles to run smoothly and it can kinda show at points. You can just feel when the game isn't running as well as expected and the calibration of your inputs just feel weird.
The game also had a lot more support for DLC (GH2 on 360 and GH3 did too, but this game ramped it up WAY more.) and got over 150 songs in DLC. All good choices, however this game just doesn't look good and feel good. Honestly, if you want to play GHWT, you shouldn't unless you really want a full experience. If you have a modded PS3 or 360 just get the exports for Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock, which runs way smoother, feels way better, and looks WAY better. I'm not sure what to rate it. If we're strictly talking in the world of Guitar Perphiral rhythm games, its a like, 4/10, definitely better then GH1, but falls flat so hard that I can't really call it better then the others. Though, in general gaming sense, it's like a 6 or 7/10, it's not a bad game, just very flawed.
