it is not safe out there. not anymore that is. it has been so for the last three years now. she always kept it for herself except for two separate occasions: the one time when she went after the doves who murdered her friends and who was responsible for her transformation and the other time when she had a run in with a dove who broke her previous mask — she should thank that dove, because they might lost anything about her since she change considerably now. however, dreaming to live a sweet life till the end was hopeless wishing. nonetheless, rei took it one day at a time while staying in the shadows.
earlier that day, she received a call from a client. it seemed that there was a few bodies to make disappear from that one human syndicate down the 3rd ward. it always made her laugh how ghouls were treated so unfairly when there were humans committing horrific crimes that were equally “terrible” and even more unjustifiable. anyway, why would she care? it was not like her little person could make a difference. therefore, after work at the boutique, she went home to prep herself — to shift from her human persona to her ghoul’s.

she left the comfort of her home jumping from one roof to the next when she could — if it was safe to freely parkour her way to the 23rd ward as she preferred it without limitation to act like a human — or roaming around as limited as possible — like actually climbing the fences for example — and arrived to some sketchy neighborhood that was really close to the 25th ward — aka the ghouls’ nest. the client was already there when she arrived. he was tapping the ground impatiently, because he was probably scared as hell. at any minute, a ghoul could have jumped him and made him his dinner. she had three bodies to dispose of. the meat was going to be sold by some “broker” she dealt with. the rest was either being thrown away or being kept for her business.
it was around four in the morning when she was done with the job. now, she had to head back home. that was the tricky part. first of all, she took the underground road, the sewers, on her way back. with the wretched smell of human blood on her coupled with her own human smell, she had a very tainted smell of ghoul left — perks of being a halfling. usually she would maybe have a running with some ghouls, but, that early morning, what she ran into was beyond her. dove. the sewers were no place for this murderer in suit. around the said dove, there was a corpse meaning that this dove was not here to play.
the halfling stayed in the shadows. from a distance she kept an eye on the dove’s movement while she made sure that her wig, her eyepatch and her mask were properly and securely in place. there was something odd about this dove, but she was too far to catch its scent — more like her strong smell of human blood made it hard to smell anything else. that was when the dove moved and it faced at her direction. either this dove was freakingly psychic, had godly intuition or...
