Yes, it's another post-G.I. Jeff fix-it. This time featuring Shirley.
Remember that episode of Community where Jeff became a war criminal
What episode is it that Jeff overdoses?
That would be 5x11 G.I. Jeff :D So good. Loved that episode. It did whump pretty good for a comedy show imo. I always want more but for a comedy it gave us good stuff :)
#that first pic reminds me#why aren't we talking about the fact that jeff nearly killed himself when he turned forty????#i mean i remember i felt like someone hit me in the chest with a boulder when he woke up in that episode and told everyone#i was so shocked like hoLY#and nobody even mentioned it afterwards?????????#jesus FUCK man#he was so unhappy that he was suicidal#(it wasn't an accident.)#also how did he end up at the hospital#who found him#why wasn't there a big 'get jeff back on his feet' scheme going on in the group afterwards#(*clears throat* staged by annie)#i a m S O f r u s t r a t e d#community#/suicide mention (via @hartlins)
!!!!!!!!!!
It’s one of the reasons I really don’t like G.I Jeff. I appreciate the cartoon element and all, and I don’t like to completely blank it from my mind because that’s basically what the show did like you say - HE ALMOST DIED! - but I also have to blank it out because it makes me so mad?
I think... it was a fic... (because I just checked the script so it can’t have been canon)... that has made me think that Hickey would have found him, though, seeing as they shared an office and that’s where the bottle of scotch/pills are shown on Jeff’s desk.
If it had been a longer season it either A) wouldn’t have happened at all or B) would have been acknowledged and dealt with respectively but BOI that doesn’t excuse the bad writing of just having them have a group hug at the end.
ALSO - speaking of Annie, of course she would want Jeff to get back on his feet but it would also have really worried her and probably would have brought up some feelings from the past from when she had her addiction. Combining all of that with the fact she loves him with the whole of her being, like?? UGH.
As you can see, I too, have a lot of feelings about this.
bethanyactually replied to your post “I think we basically just all have to agree that Jeff's age was vague...”
The age-related thing I always thought was hilarious about G.I. Jeff is when Abed says, "You guys know I'm 38, right?" and then says he's kidding. (Although why they didn't have him say he was 35, which was Danny Pudi's *actual age* the day that episode aired, I will never understand.)
yes! that was a great moment and one that left me a little confused as to why they didn’t capitalize on danny pudi’s actual age in the joke. my pet theory is abed was actually 38 but when he got everyone’s reaction he backed down.
