trobedison mood board. I hate these guys.
forever disappointed that the #gay dean Tumblr tag is largely filled with posts about Supernatural and not the song from Community 😔
Please bring back incorrect community tweets they were so funny (ofc it’s your decision but this is just a lil message to show we loved ittttttt)
awwwwww whattt I'm so glad you're really enjoying them, you're so sweet (˶˃ ᵕ ˂˶) i'm currently adding to my lineup, so keep an eye out!! more soon!!
the study group broke this man 😭
I was wondering how much of my reaction to season 4 of community was with a subconscious bias against a new show runner, but my roommate, who is much more capable of engaging with media without similar bias, agreed that it felt distinct from the last three seasons. She went through the episodes and talked about how only 3 felt like classic community episodes, even if there were more that she liked.
It was only heightened by starting season five and almost immediately feeling "back," and each episode we see something integral that was either missed or poorly replicated in the previous season.
This is not to say that Dan Harmon shouldn't have been fired! I just don't know how worth it keeping season 4 going was without him. And not even just in a "this didn't feel like Community" sense, but also the late 00's/early 10's humor was worse in that season. There's transphobia/transmisogyny in, what, the first episode? The dean is actively misogynistic toward the end. There's an episode in which, in what was overall a good bonding time between Jeff and Pierce, Jeff just sort of... Stops pushing back against Pierce's racism and sexism even in small ways. There are just a lot of problems that ruin the less actively bigoted, though certainly not perfect, humor and, idk, "culture" of the first three seasons.
It wasn't worth it to have a season of community that regressed into more bigotry.
Again, there were still very good episodes in there! Basic Human Anatomy being an obvious one. But the mediocre and bad ones are at best messy and are tainted with actual punching down humor and bigotry at worst.
Not even touching on the two episode laces with rape culture!
