The scent of home, the sound of eternity

Kazuha:*sipping tea*

Aether:*hiding in bushes* (I got this I got this I got this I got-)

Kazuha:*smiling* I know you are there, Aether.

Aether:Darn it!!! *stands up* And here I thought Sayu’s stealth training was paying off.

Kazuha:Oh you were quiet, but the wind shares many secrets. Like how you were hoping it would distract me from Beidou approaching from the opposite side; her unique scent entangled with smoke and sugar.

Beidou:Motherfuc- *walks out with food and cake* You could at least try and act surprised! And after all my hard work too.

Kazuha:*grabs cake* Surprise or no surprise, the thoughtfulness remains. Thank you. I don’t have to mention how this year has been trying in a variety of ways, but I persevered all thanks to the two of you. I owe you my life.

Aether:*sniffling* Kazuha…

Beidou:*puts arm around him* Hey now, a captain helps her crew mates. Don’t you ever forget that. If you really want to to repay me then a good drink and a long life is all I’ll ever ask of you.

Kazuha:Stubborn as ever, but I’ll accept those terms. I’ll even buy for the whole ship.

Beidou:Now you’re talking! Haha! All that can wait for another time. Today is your day.

Aether:And what a beautiful day it is been. Warm weather, calm wind, a blue sky that’s now filling with stars….

Beidou:A good view of the sea, a meal to warm to stomach, and most apparently, a surprise you couldn’t smell or hear.

Kazuha:!? What would that b-

A rocket from the Alcor shot up into the sky, exploding in a passionate green firework; followed by two more that were as red as autumn leaves. Seconds later, more dazzling fireworks that lit up the night sky over the ocean. Anyone from Inazuma could recognize this degree of talent.

Kazuha:When did you get an order of Yoimiya’s fireworks.

Beidou:I may have requested them to be shipped separately and away from our ship. A sixth sense is still a sense. You were so busy getting mine, the food, and traveler’s that it must’ve flew right over ya.

Kazuha:To be fair, your cooking often brings a fair bit of smoke.

Beidou:Hey is that any way to say thanks!?

Aether:Happy Birthday Kazuha! From one homesick wanderer to another.

Kazuha:*smiles* Hehe, now I feel the pressure to plan your birthday.

The three of them all sat down and watched the display. In moment’s like these, feeling homesick was impossible. How could he when a wanderer’s home becomes the people who stands by him? Even as the fireworks exploded throughout the sky, Kazuha could hear just how welcomed he was.

“Happy birthday Kazuha. Stay safe.”

“I’ll cook something up for you next time you’re around. Remember, home never really leaves you.”

“Once a brother in arms, always a brother! Happy Birthday Kazuha.”

“May open waters love you as much as the sky above it. You will always have an honored spot in our ranks.”

“Uhhh Oh! It’s finally dark out! Enjoying my dazzling display? Made extra special just for you hehe! Happy Birthday Kazuha. I…umm I…I’ll always be here for you, for anything. Don’t be a stranger, kay?”

“See?I knew you were tougher than lightning.”

Kazuha:*closes eyes* Hmmm~

Aether:You hear it all, don’t you?

Kazuha:Yeah…now and forever.
