★ 【Kokonex】 「 Springtime Ayaka~ 🌸 」 ✔ republished w/permission ☆ follow our YT interview show!
hello! I have a request for yae, Ayaka, and any other genshin girls you feel like adding
Them with a s/o who's waking up from surgery (or some other such operation), still on painkillers, high off their fucking mind, and they just keep stating at them like 🤨 cuz they're not lucid enough to figure out where they are or who the person besides them is.
(Genshin Impact) Their S/O waking up while still being loopy
Miko, Ayaka, Chiori, Clorinde, Dehya, Eula, Navia, Rosaria, Sara, Shenhe, Sucrose, Xianyun, Xinyan, Yoimiya
I haven't written for Genshin in what I feel is a while, so congrats anon! You have scored the Ask lottery by getting 14 genshin gals! Enjoy!
Miko is honestly trying so hard not to burst into laughter seeing S/O's confused expression.
The way their eyes were half-lidded, mouth slightly open, knowing the moment they opened their mouth the question would be:
(S/O) "Who are you...?"
Miko clears her throat, but the smile doesn't go away, not one bit.
(Miko) "Oh, don't mind me! I'm a friend of Guuji Yae, your girlfriend! I'm here to pick you up."
(S/O) "Huh...you have the same smirk as her."
(Miko) snrk!
(S/O) "...Same mischievous laugh too..."
Though the injury they sustained was unfortunate, the reaction was hilarious!...Well, assuming that the medicine they used just made them a little woozy instead of deleting their memory.
Ayaka is more concerned than anything at S/O's reaction.
(Ayaka) "Are you alright?"
(S/O) "U-Uh...yes ma'am."
(Ayaka) "Ma'am?-"
(S/O) "Sorry, is miss Kamisato around here? I think she was waiting outside."
(Ayaka) "I'm right here though?"
S/O had to squint their eyes, as if not believing her. She moved closer, but S/O adjusted to keep the respectful distance.
She'd be flattered that even in such a state they took their relationship so seriously, but now she began to pout.
(Ayaka) "I am Ayaka, S/O!"

is it bad that you and scaramouche r lwk seen as freaks in class
your style differences is greatly noticeable and it surprises people all the time that you're dating
you and scaramouche don't really care what others say
especially scaramouche
he's too busy locking in on school work to deal with other people
sometimes you find yourself bored during lecture and start giving your boyfriend a makeover. yup. A MAKEOVER.
you are LITERALLY combing his hair, braiding it, giving him bows to wear, all that shit
AND HE DOESNT GAF
ok he kinda did at first like he was looking at you like "the fuck."
but you didn't make any noise and gave him that cutesy kawaii bug eyes (he calls it bug eyes instead of puppydog eyes lmao)
then hes like UGHHHHH I GUESS
he never wants to admit but he does NOT play about you like genuinely
rmbr those FAKE friends that left you high and dry???????????
BEST BELIEVE HE CONFRONTED THOSE GIRLS.
Scaraamouche was headed to the cafeteria to buy you lunch like always.
He picks out snacks and today's meal of the day, all for you. He waits in line for a couple of minutes, pays for the food, and tries to find some free seating. Scaramouche spots a table near the corner and moves right away to get to it. Luckily, he gets there first and begins to settle himself down. Scaramouche checks his phone and sees a text response from you.
Almost there! (๑ᵔ⤙ᵔ๑)
He smiles to himself. He takes a picture of the food he got for you and sends it, along with a heart. Scaramouche puts his phone down after seeing you reply with incoherent words. That's when he notices a group of girls sitting near the entrance. He squints before going wide-eyed. It’s those girls who used to hang out with you.
There's no doubt it's them since they’ve always given you a cold shoulder whenever you enter the lecture room. Scaramouche furrows his brows, his jaw tightening. The nerve of those chicks to treat you like crap—like they had any right to look down on you at all. You've told him it didn't bother you, of course, he doesn't believe you. Scaramouche quickly checks his phone, and you had sent another message.
Ran into Diluc and he's holding me hostage..˙𐃷˙
He raises a brow for a moment before shaking his head, preparing himself to see those ex-friends of yours. Pushing his chair, he heads in their direction. They're all busy laughing to themselves and only notice once Scaramouche speaks.
"Hey."
They stop and look up, disgust now written all over their face.
"Can we help you?" The girl in the middle asks.
"I want you guys to apologize to Y/N." He states.
They all look at each other before laughing again.
"Why would we do that? We didn't do anything to her!" Another girl says.
Scaramouche's face scrunches in disgust as the girls laugh their ass off. One of them stops and points at him, gears turning in her head.
"Wait, aren't you her boyfriend?"
The girls gasp in shock, then continue to laugh about this new information. They were getting on his nerves to an extreme degree. He hated people like them so much. 'You’re not a child anymore, so grow up.' Scaramouche doesn't want to cause a scene, but how dare they laugh at his face about you, his girlfriend? He bites inside his cheek, listening to the screeching sounds coming from these girls. After what felt like eternity, Scaramouche slams the table, causing the whole lunchroom to go silent.
All eyes are now on him, but he didn't care at all.
Scaramouche glares at the girls and repeats, "I want you to apologize to Y/N."
They stare at him in disbelief but don't back down.
"We don't need to. If it hurt her feelings so much, she should've said it herself instead of telling her boytoy to do it for her." She chuckles, "Guess she's too much of a pussy to do it. She always was."
Scaramouche snapped and slid all their food onto the floor, earning gasps from everyone in the room. Furious, the girl in the middle stood up, "You fucking dick!" She grabbed her water bottle and splashed it on him. Scaramouche looks at himself now, soaking wet, while others begin to gossip to their friends. She starts cussing him out, saying how he crossed the line and directly assaulted her.
She keeps going and going until she gets splashed with water too, but not by Scaramouche, by you.
Scaramouche looks to the side and sees you with one of those girls’ water bottles. Fury was all over your face. You were just by the entryway when you witnessed your boyfriend get splashed. You won’t tolerate any form of slander about your partner.
"You-" The girl glares right at her.
"That's payback for what you did to him." You say, putting the bottle back on the table.
However, you kneel, collecting clumps of food, and throwing it at each girl’s face.
"And that's payback for what you did to me!"
Quickly, you grab Scaramouche's arm and run out of the lunchroom, the sound of laughter trailing behind you. You drag him into the girls’ bathroom, looking down under each stall to see if it's empty. You push him up to the sink, resting your bag on top, wash your hands, and begin yanking out napkins and towels. He's really not surprised. You practically have everything in that bag of yours. That's why it's so bulky.
You start to wipe his face, then his hair.
"You know, I can do this myself, right?" He says, watching every move you do.
"Yeah, but I want to touch you." You say, earning a shocked expression from him.
Seeing a tint of blush on his face, you kick his back.
"Don't be dirty, idiot." You scold.
Scaramouche rubs his back with a scowl. "I wasn't."
You smile, then drape the towel on his head before throwing the napkins away. Scaramouche stands up properly, grabbing the towel off his head. You don't really say anything else, but look in your bag to see if you have a hoodie for him. Scaramouche continues to watch you for a little while before finally saying something.
"Thanks. That was pretty cool."
You blink, then look at him in bewilderment. "Really?"
He nods, then you stand right next to him, arms touching. "I feel a bit dirty. I mean, I chipped my nail doing that!" You pout, showing him your well-manicured nails that he finds appealing. Your hand goes down and grabs his pinkie with yours.
"Why'd they do that anyway?" You ask. "No one's allowed to get you wet but me."
Scaramouche rolls his eyes, "Who's the dirty one now?"
You puff up your cheeks while he shakes his head disapprovingly. The silence is prominent as you two stand there, gazing into the mirror. You glance at him since it's obvious he's dodging the question. You nudge your elbow at him, which makes him look down at you.
"Well?" You ask with demand.
He scrunches his nose while you raise a brow. You both began to stare into each other's eyes, waiting for who would give up first. Your faces inch closer and closer, your pinkies still intwine as tightly as can be. Scaramouche’s cheeks flush from staring for so long. It always makes his heart flutter when he looks at you, even to this day. You know him very well; once you feel the sweat on his finger, you stomp on his foot, causing him to pull away from you entirely. Scaramouche winces in pain, looking down at his shoe, while you throw your arms up to celebrate.
"Woohoo! I win!" You cheer with a maniacal giggle.
Scaramouche gives you a distasteful look, then glances at his shoe again. He was so sure he felt your heel pierce his skin. He mutters curses to himself while you run in circles about your cheated victory. After getting the high off, you stand back in front of him, hands on your hips.
"Now will you tell me?" You say, tilting your head with a menacing smirk.
Scaramouche huffs, "It's not a big deal."
"You say that, but we all know it is." You tell him, matter-of-factly.
He rolls his eyes, then stares at the floor.
"I just said that they should apologize to you. That's it." He admits.
Your face is now in shock, and, in all honesty, you didn't think he'd do something like that. Sure, he loves you, but you didn't think he'd actually do anything to defend you. You imagine how the scenario plays out in your head. Scaramouche is instructing those girls to apologize. They refuse, likely because he had threatened or insulted them earlier, leaving him drenched as a result. What about the food? Oh, yes, he definitely threw that shit to the ground.
You replay the scene again with this new theory you thought up and burst out laughing. Scaramouche looks at you, offended by your reaction. His face turns red, already regretting saying the truth about it all. Crossing his arms, he looks away from you, pouting about your attitude right now.
"Are you done?" He snaps, still eyeing the wall instead of you.
You nod, covering your mouth to hide your remaining giggles. "Yes, yes, sorry."
You settle down, slowly walking towards him, but he takes a step back. You snort, 'He's like a cat.' He's avoiding you right now, but his eyes struggle to stay away. You take a step back, then lunge right onto him, catching him completely off guard. He manages to catch you, but bumps into the wall with force.
"Y/N, seriously?!" He scolds but stops, watching you snuggle closer to him.
Your ear rests on his heart, listening to it quicken in response to your presence. He was still a little damp, but it didn't bother you, not in the slightest. His warmth is always potent when you're with him.
"You're my knight in shining armor." You say. "I love you."
Scaramouche blushes even more and pats your head.
"I have the best boyfriend in the world! What would I do without you?" You tell him, tightening your grip.
"You'd die." He replies, causing you to step on his foot again.
"OW!"
"(˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)"
yeah so you guys got suspended.
ok scaramouche got suspended………..
UNFORTUNATELY it was an act of self defense for the girls while scaramouche was lwk the "assualter"
yeah you were pissed. you got a pass since you didn't get the context but got a warning.
oh right what were you doing with diluc? well that mf needed you as test dummy for his chem class and he didn't take no for an answer.
scaramouche was in a bad mood during his week suspension like he wanted to crash out.
whenever you visited him, he was just so moody. all he did was lay in bed face first praying for death
as for the girls, surprisingly, they did apologize to you!
and for what you said about it….
"sorry but i don't accept! you guys ruined my life and got my boyfriend suspended so hopefully you end up failing your next exams leading for you to get kick out! (˶>⩊<˶)"
while your boyfriend mopes, you had a fun time sitting on him and yapping about your day.
you aren't that heavy like scaramouche can easily throw you across the room but he didn't bother arguing.
anywho his friends did laugh about what happened which made him even more angry.
after his suspension was over he got LOTS of looks but he lwk didnt gaf
those girls wont mess with you anymore thats what!
you managed to gain new friends from one of your classes. they told told you that they saw what you did to your ex besties and thought you were cool.
so besides childe, itto, and diluc, you have yoimiya, ayaka, and lumine! you girls are your own clique teehee
scaramouche is very happy for you indeed.
as time flies you thought about celebrating your one year anniversary of being together!
something so special to you but not really to him?
i mean yeah he loves you but he doesn't think its a big deal
you guys arent married but dating, theres a difference
still you wanted to do something special
but you didn't think this would lead to one of the biggest fights you guys had..
sure you argued before but this time, it really wasn't what you expected your anniversary to start out
Your whole school day is ruined thanks to what happened in the morning.
Your bubbly attitude from the beginning turned sour, and your friends noticed. Your later classes weren't in lecture rooms but the normal kind. You sat with your new girl friends at a round table, ignoring the teacher's chatter.
They look at each other worryingly as you write endless scribbles in your notebook.
All your head thinks of are the events that happened. Scaramouche's words replaying on loop, almost taunting.
"I hate everything about you."
Your lip trembles as you lower your head. This day really sucked. This fight was different from the others. You were naive to think your relationship wouldn't have hurdles. You believed Scaramouche was special, but he was just like any other boyfriend—unapologetically brutal with his words.
A tap on your arm, and you glance to see all your friends' concerned faces. You hadn't realized that the teacher stopped talking, and everyone was packing to go.
"Y/N, is everything okay?" Yoimiya asks as the other two watch.
You give them a hurtful smile. "It's nothing." You tell them, but fail to hide the crack in your voice.
"Is it about Scaramouche?" Ayaka whispers to you like it's a sensitive topic.
Your wounded expression was all the answer they needed. They get up and go to hug you for reassurance. You smile a little at the comfort before remembering him. Scaramouche, who detested any form of physical contact, would always eagerly embrace you whenever you sought his company. When you would get sad, he would ignore his boundaries for you. You guessed this time; it wasn't possible for him.
You take a breath in, "Um, we should get going." You tell them.
The girls look at each other, then Yoimiya grins down at you. "Hey, I know! Lumine and Ayaka don't have classes anymore, so let's all hang out!"
"In campus?" Lumine questions, earning a glare from the other blonde.
"Yes, Lumine, some of us are still stuck here!" Yoimiya motions her head towards you, then points at herself.
Lumine mouths an 'oh' while Ayaka shakes her head, "She was just making sure."
You smile more when hearing them bicker. What you need is a distraction. No boys, just you girls.
"That sounds nice." You say, and they beam with smiles.
You all put your things away, grab your bags, and finally leave the classroom.
"Where should we go first?" Lumine asks, and you all think for a moment.
Suddenly, Ayaka clasps her hands together, "I hear they're selling leftover brownies at the cafeteria today!"
Yoimiya pumps her fist, "Yay, food!"
"We can eat and go to the library to watch a movie or something." You chime in.
"Sure, sounds fun!" Ayaka nods.
Yoimiya locks an arm around you, "Okay, let's go before they run out!"
You guys rush to the cafeteria, talking on the way. Their presence definitely made you forget about your problem with Scaramouche. His words faded, and all you could think about was trying that sweet treat. As you're nearing the lunchroom, you begin to notice a flyer hanging on the walls. It started to appear more and more as you went inside.
"Hey, do you know what's up with the flyers?" You ask them, pointing right to one that hangs right next to where you're standing.
The girls lean over to observe, "Hmm, looks like it's a celebration party for our sports team." Lumine states.
"Oh," was all you said. Now you were depressed again.
You only know three people in sports: Diluc, Itto, and Childe. And what do they have in common? They're friends with Scaramouche, the guy you're trying to avoid. You let out a sad sigh. Remembering his angry expression from the morning resurfaced your heartbreak.
"Why can't you be normal?"
Your mouth quivers, and the girls instantly notice your mood switch.
"I-It's just a stupid party!" Lumine claims, "I'm not really going."
"Right! I'm busy with studies, so..." Ayaka trails off, trying to think of what other comment to say.
Yoimiya holds your hands, "Come on, you need to eat!" She drags you off to the lunch room with the other girls following behind. You appeared somewhat uninterested, yet you attempted to smile for them. Yoimiya offered to pay, so the rest of you stood by the exit, not wanting to be in the way.
Your mind wandered away from the conversation between Lumine and Ayaka. You couldn’t stop thinking about him. You wondered what you could've done differently. Maybe you shouldn't have kept pressuring him to open up? You could've kept quiet instead of listing reasons why he should change his mind. Perhaps you were being overly dramatic, just as he suggested.
Your eyes wander to the floor, then to countless people who were sitting at the tables to eat, hang, or study. You envied their ignorance and wished you weren't feeling so glum. Then, your eyes widen upon seeing a familiar group. Scaramouche was sitting with his back towards you, with Childe right next to him. Itto and Diluc sat right across, and they all seemed to be talking about something.
You can't help but stare at Scaramouche. Did he know you were here? Is that why he's sitting that way? Was he still angry? Does he not want you here? Did he still love you?
"Sometimes I need a break from you."
You close your eyes before turning back to your friends.
'Maybe I am the problem…'
You sigh again, then tune back in to your friend's conversation.
"Y/N, you think I can knock out all my exams on the same day?" Lumine asks you, which makes you look at her crazily.
"Is that possible?" You ask, and Ayaka, with crossed arms, shook her head.
Lumine pouts, "Damn it..."
"Tada!" Yoimiya appears, carrying four brownies in hand. "Who's hungry?" she sings.
You laugh and grab one, "Thanks, Yoimiya. I'll pay you back."
"No need!" She replies, "You deserve this."
You smile and take a bite. 'It's really good!' Your eyes sparkle. You reach to take your phone out, but pause. Right, you and Scaramouche aren't exactly on speaking terms. Hesitant, you slightly turn your head back and, to your surprise, Scaramouche was looking at you.
His expression was blank until you locked eyes, and it went sour. Your heart aches, so you turned away. You look down at your brownie, your eyes starting to sting. It's not until you hear Ayaka screech a little, making you look up.
"Ayato, don't do that! It's cold!" She complains while he laughs, shaking the boba tea a little.
"Sorry." He says, then he notices you.
"Ah, you're Y/N, right?" He asks, and you nod in response.
Ayato observes you a bit before smiling more. "I like your outfit."
"Huh?" You process his words again, then smile with a nervous blush. "Thanks."
You prettied yourself more than usual for today. Curling your hair, your lashes, nails painted with precision, and your dress still frilly as ever, along with a bow resting behind your head. It felt nice to get a compliment that you've waited so long for. Even if it wasn't from who you wanted it to be.
Ayato only smiles before looking back at his sister. "Ayaka, shouldn't you get ready for the party?"
She shakes her head, "I'm not going. I have to study."
"You're going to the party?" Yoimiya asks, her left cheek filled with brownie.
He nods, "Well, yeah. Itto invited me. Are you girls going?"
Lumine and Yoimiya shook their heads, then all eyes were on you. You look down a little. Of course, you didn't want to go, but you couldn't do that to Diluc, Itto, and Childe. They weren't at fault for what happened to you and Scaramouche. They're your friends too.
"I don't know yet.." You mumble.
"That's okay, you have till tonight to decide," Ayato reassures you. "I'll be there, so if you need someone to get you out, find me."
You smile a little at his thoughtfulness. "Thanks."
Ayato nods and says, “I should get going. Be careful.” Ayaka only nods in response.
He turns away but turns back towards you. "Here." He hands you the boba he’s holding.
"I-" Ayato cuts you off, "You seem a little down, so have this."
"Didn't you drink from that?" Yoimiya questions, but he laughs.
"I was about to, but Y/N seems to need it more than me." He says, watching you observe the cup.
Your cheeks flush, "Um, are you sure?"
He nods, "Well, hopefully I see you tonight." Ayato waves at you girls, then walks away, leaving you in a dazed state.
Your face is fully red as you take in what just happened. The way Ayato was acting, were you just hit on? No, no way! Ayato was just being nice…right? Yeah, he was being nice; he's a nice guy. This was your first time meeting him, but you've heard from Ayaka how suave he can be.
"Y/N!" You jump and see Yoimiya looking at you intensely.
"Don't tell me you're moving on?!"
"What?! No!!!" You shake your head, "I was just nervous! I never talked to him before!"
Lumine raises a brow, "You? Nervous? That's a first."
You sigh, "Look, I'm just having an off day…"
The girls look at you pitifully. Yoimiya was feeling bad for accusing you of cheating. You were right, today was just a mess, and hearing something like that definitely didn't make it any better.
"Sorry.." Yoimiya apologizes, rubbing your shoulder.
You smile slightly, “It’s okay.” You gaze at the boba, then take a sip. Having had boba before, this isn’t entirely new to you. The flavor appears to be mango, and you’re thoroughly enjoying it.
"I should be the one saying sorry." Ayaka says, "My brother can be too much sometimes."
You wave your hand, "It's okay. I didn't mind. Besides, this boba made me feel a bit better.” You giggle, shaking the cup a little.
Out of nowhere, a large pop was heard. You all turn to the tables, trying to see the cause. Squinting, you notice that Scaramouche is cleaning his hand that's covered in, what you believe, is soda fizz. You see Childe holding a crushed can, which makes you even more puzzled.
"Jocks and their brute strength." Lumine comments.
The girls say yeah in agreement, but you only nod.
You find it hard to believe that Childe would accidentally cause his soda to explode. Actually, now that you think about it, it's not that far off from his style. Still, you wondered why all of the drink got onto Scaramouche instead. Unfortunately, the more you look, the more you aren't able to see his face. You didn't question any further and left with the rest of the girls for the library.
Once you step into the library, you huddle at the back of the room to watch your movie.
Your mood is lifted, and you’re having the time of your life. Yoimiya would humorously comment on the poor quality of the leads, and Lumine would attempt to predict plot developments and common tropes. Ayaka would critique the fashion choices and their accuracy in relation to the timeline. You kept focusing on the romance and how unbearable some of the lines were. Still, it was fun.
The movie concludes, and despite the obvious consensus that it was a bad film, you all decide to review it.
"At least the setting was nice," Ayaka says, and Yoimiya nods. "No gray filters."
As they talk some more, you reach for your phone since you've also been avoiding it. You had put it on silent to ease your worries, but now you're scared to see if he said something. Once you unlock your phone, you’ll find a dozen messages from Itto. He’s asking about your whereabouts and expressing how much he missed you. There’s also a message from Diluc, who checks in to see if you’re okay. Another message is from Childe, who asks if you’re going to the party. Surprisingly, there’s no message from Scaramouche.
You frown. You hate it when he gets like this. He shuts you out completely because he’s too proud to talk it out. He makes you feel like you were in the wrong, and honestly, it’s starting to feel that way more and more.
"What's wrong, Y/N?" Ayaka asks, and you put your phone face down on the table.
"It's... It's nothing. Just…" You stop, not wanting to talk anymore.
Lumine shifts in her seat until she asks the big question, "What happened between you two?"
There was a deafening silence.
You clutch your dress, biting your bottom lip.
"You don't have to tell us, but maybe it might help if you let it out?" Ayaka says, putting a hand on your shoulder.
You let out a shaky sigh before closing your eyes.
"Okay."
At 7:00 in the morning, you woke with a grand smile on your face.
Today marked your first anniversary of being together with Scaramouche. You had it marked on your calendar, your notes, your planner, everywhere that allowed you to jot down a date. You didn't have a class till 9:00, but you wanted to prepare for this moment. You quickly head to the shower, making sure to clean every inch of yourself. When you walk out, you have already laid out your outfit to wear on your bed.
You changed with care, fixing your stockings to the right height, cleaning your heels, and smoothing out the wrinkles on your dress. You opted for a simple nail design adorned with numerous hearts and gems. You curled your hair at the right length while applying the right shade of lipstick. You pat your cheeks with blush, and you give a slight sparkle to your eyeshadow. You smile at the mirror, proud of your hard work.
You carefully clip on your bow and begin to make your way out. As you reach for your bag, you check to see if Scaramouche’s gift is inside. You smile even more and leave your dorm with glee.
It was already 8 when you reached Scaramouche's dorm, and you knocked on his door quite loudly. You couldn't contain your excitement. You did receive some looks, but it was nothing. All you wanted to do was see the boy you love.
The door opens to a tired and bewildered Scaramouche. He couldn't get a word out since you tackled him with a hug. "Hi, baby!"
"Hi…" He replies, still confused.
He lets you in, closing the door with you still clinging to him like a koala.
"Y/N, what're you doing here? It's early in the morning." He tells you, pulling you away a bit to look at your face.
You giggle, "I'm here to see you! Don't you know what today is?"
Scaramouche glances to the side for a moment to think, then looks back at you.
"Thursday…" He says, and you laugh.
"Yeah, but what else?" You flutter your lashes, but he only stares.
"Is there something else?" He asks, and you nod.
You kiss his cheek before telling him, "It's our first anniversary!"
You smile at him, awaiting his surprise and celebration, but that didn't happen. Not at all. Scaramouche didn't even smile; he merely looked at you like what you said was another day of the week.
"Oh," Scaramouche said, and you nod again.
"Yes! Isn't that great? We made it!" You laugh once more, now holding his hands.
"I guess." He says. "Well, if that's all, then can I go back to sleep now?"
You tilt your head like he's dumb. "What? No, we're going out to celebrate."
He looks at you, stunned. "Right now?"
"Yeah! I have a whole bunch of things written down to do!" You let go to rummage in your bag, but Scaramouche stops you.
"Y/N, that's great and all, but we don't need to do all that." He tells you, and you look up at him in shock.
It was your turn to say oh.
"Why not? This is a big thing." You tell him, but Scaraamouche only shakes his head.
"No, it's not. It's just a dumb date." He replies, which crushed your heart a little.
"Oh.." You forget about the things in your bag and tug on your frills. "But I had so much planned for us. I reserved a restaurant for us to go to after your classes."
"A restaurant?!" Scaramouche screeches in astonishment.
"Yeah, but it's not that fancy. I mean, it's fancy like special but like-"
Scaramouche interrupts you, waving his hands in disapproval. "Y/N, that's not necessary. We don't need to do all that."
"That's okay, we can do the other things listed!"
"What other things?" He asks, though he's not sure if he should've.
"Well, after we'd go to a cat cafe, bake a cake-"
"Bake a cake?" Scaramouche raises a brow.
You nod, "Yes! So we can blow out candles about our successful journey together."
Scaramouche blinks. "No, that's- we're not doing that."
You frown, "Why not?"
"Because it's a waste." He says. "We don't need to have a party."
"It's not a party." You tell him. "It's a celebration."
"Yeah, that's what a party is." Scaramouche sighs, scratching his head. "Look, Y/N, it's nice that you came here, but I'm really tired, and we both have better things to do than go out in fancy clothes."
"But..it's not about the fancy clothes." You mutter, looking down.
Scaramouche didn't catch that, but kissed your head. "I'll see you later."
You stood there, a bit sad, but determined to hang out later. You yank his sleeve, pulling him back to you.
"Y/N-"
"We're going to have a fun time, trust me!" You beam at him with a smile. "We'll go to all our favorite spots and try out so many romantic dishes and even go sightseeing!"
"Y/N-"
You pull out your phone to show him the venue that you booked for stargazing.
"Look, there's this pop-up happening a few hours away from here! We can go there, take pictures, and get this, they have a lovers spot-"
"That's nice, Y/N." He says as he sets your phone down. "We can do that some other time."
Your face falls once more. “What? But we must do it now. It’ll be wonderful, and it’ll happen right after we eat.”
"Y/N, we aren't doing that, and that's final."
"Well, why not?"
Scaramouche huffs, "I've already told you countless times, weren't you listening?!"
"Weren't you listening?" You bite back. "It's our first anniversary, we should do something."
"Actually, no, we don't." He shot back. "Last time I checked, no one does that!"
You ball your hands into fists. "That's not true! It's a perfectly normal couple thing!"
Scaramouche rolls your eyes, "I didn't ask you to do all this. You're always going to the extreme when I didn't tell you to."
You gasp, "I'm not! I'm trying to show my love for you!"
"Well, you do it in the most stupid ways!" He throws his arms up. "Planning all these events for a single day that isn't that special!"
"It is special!" Your throat begins to be unbearable as you can feel yourself starting to well up in tears. "You're too much of an ass to see it!"
"Oh, am I now?!"
"Yeah, you are! All you care about is yourself, no one else!"
"Since when?!" His voice started to rise even louder. "You love to make things complicated for us when it's not needed at all! It’s always about giving it your all and trying to impress everyone! Maybe you’re the one who should realize the world doesn't revolve around you? God, why can't you be normal like every other girlfriend?!"
You’re taken aback, almost frozen in place. “Is that really what you think I am? Some attention-seeking whore?!”
"Clearly, because all you do is try to one-up me in every single act I do! You're so overbearing and aggravating that sometimes I need a break from you! You can never be satisfied with anything!"
Your mouth drops a little, "T-Thats not even true! You're always making things up! You're making me seem like a villain, as you do to everyone else who does something remotely triggering! I wouldn't be surprised if your mom isn't actually the cold-hearted bitch you said she is because you're too scared to see the bigger picture!'
Scaramouche laughs, almost mockingly. "Oh yeah? At least I don't get butt-hurt over one friendship fallout like some drama queen! You have other friends, genius! It was never a big deal!"
"Well, if you think that way, then maybe you should actually talk to your mom instead of dragging her emails to the trash! I don't see why hiding is your answer when clearly you know how to talk to people!"
Scaramouche clenches his fists, glaring daggers right at you, his face red from fury.
"I hate everything about you."
Your eyes widen like you've been stabbed in the heart multiple times. This was the final blow.
"Go away, Y/N. I really appreciate you waking me up early… to fight, of all things. What a girlfriend you are." Scaramouche turns his back to you before saying, "You're such a pest."
You stand there, legs trembling and eyes watering. Your mouth is completely dry as you struggle to find your voice. You wanted to have the last word, but you got nothing. Instead, you silently walked out the door, all the way to the building to your first class. It clicked once you walked inside about what happened. You ran to the bathroom and decided to skip class and cry about the events that occurred.
"And now he's avoiding me because of what I said." You croak, wiping the tears falling from your eyes.
"We're so sorry, Y/N," Ayaka says, rubbing your back.
Lumine nods, rubbing your arms from the other side. "Yeah, that was such a jerky move what he did."
Yoimiya nods also, "He should've acted more maturely."
You sniffle, "This is all my fault. I pushed his buttons and ended up ruining everything!"
"Hey, don't say that," Ayaka says, holding your arms. "This isn't the end of the world. You can fix this."
You shake your head. "No.. he hasn't talked to me all day, not even in the class we have together. He's always walking somewhere away from me." You cover your face. "It's over."
You continue to cry as the girls look at each other, trying to figure something out to lift your spirits.
You really love him, and it sucks that Scaramouche said such cruel things. What was worse was that he didn't even seem sorry. It was like he was hiding all his disdain for you. After all the experiences you guys had, he was so quick to dismiss it.
"How about we sleepover at my place?" Ayaka asks with a small smile. "Ayato won’t be home, so it’s just us girls."
"Good idea, that sounds fun," Yoimiya states, but you shook your head.
Standing up, your face was defeated with makeup staining your cheeks. "Sorry, but I think..I want to be on my own right now."
"That's okay." Lumie says, "Take your time. We'll be available for you when you're ready."
You nod and slowly pack your things. "Thanks for everything."
"Of course." Yoimiya smiles, and the three watch you go.
They frown once you're out of sight. Even though they let you have some space, they can't help but worry about you.
You ended up skipping your remaining classes.
You weren't feeling it at all. Instead of succumbing to tears, you sought solace in sleep, a well-deserved breather after today’s events.
Your dreams were filled with clouds and stars of you living a great future. Magical, you were like a fairy. You watched the flowers bloom and help shift the rain. There, you even fell in love once again. A dreamy guy who followed you everywhere. His hand always held yours as you talked about something dealing with the sun's rays.
His face wasn't visible in the slightest, but his voice felt familiar.
You guys share a romantic kiss in the night sky, and you see now that it was none other than Scaramouche.
You gasp, waking up right away.
Looks like even in dreamland, you can't escape from him.
You slowly sit up and look out the window. It had gotten dark, and you wonder if you missed anything important in class. Sighing, you retrieve your phone from your bag to check it. When searching, you freeze upon seeing Scaramouche's gift. You stare at it for a while before pulling your phone out.
Childe had sent another text, which was a photo of the flyer.
You've forgotten to respond, so you begin to type, but before you can press send, you realize the party has already started. 'Ayato must be there already.' Ever since you went out with Scaramouche, you've found yourself going to more parties. He always went to drink himself to death, especially if he was upset. You always tagged along to make sure he was okay. Afterwards, you would take him to bed, and all he wanted was to be in your arms. He never wanted you to leave because he was scared you'd never come back.
You shake your head to forget the memory and start typing something else.
Thanks! I'll be there (─‿‿─)
You wipe off all the makeup on your face, put on some sneakers, and head to the location of this party.
Another distraction just for you!
You never arrive alone, so you were a little nervous about what to do. When entering, not many people paid attention to you. They were too busy talking with friends or drinking like crazy. You try to spot Childe or Ayato among the crowd, but find nothing. The flashing lights and banging music weren't any better.
'Was the gym always this big?'
You try to maneuver towards the snack station, hoping to find at least Itto or Diluc. You still wanted to congratulate them, and you wanted to do it as quickly as possible. The nerves were eating at you, and this was an overwhelming experience. You successfully get to your destination, and you are relieved to see Ayato behind the table.
"Ah, Y/N! You made it!" He says, loud enough for you to hear.
"Hi!" You wave.
"Here, come stand by me!" He grabs your arm and carefully pulls you back with him. "It's a lot, huh?" You nod, tugging on your dress. "Have you seen Childe?" You ask in his ear since he knelt for you.
Ayato shakes his head, "No, but I saw Diluc somewhere."
You smile, "Really? Where?"
Ayato scans around. "He might be outside. They're playing games out there."
"Oh." Your expression changes to disappointment.
Ayato pats your head. "Hey, do you want anything to drink?"
You smile and shake your head. "No, that's okay. I'll go find him, but if you see Childe and Itto, tell them I'm here."
He gives you a thumbs up, and you start walking through the crowds again. After enduring numerous attempts, you finally succeeded in escaping, and your ears are delighted to hear the pleasant sound of insects buzzing instead of the unpleasant music that was playing. Immediately, you spot that guy's red hair and run up to him.
"Diluc!" He does a double-take when hearing your voice. He was honestly surprised that you came, but relieved that you're looking okay.
"Y/N, I'm glad you can make it." He says, patting your head.
You smile even more, "I wanted to congratulate you in, uh, well, I'm not really sure what we're partying for! But congrats!"
Diluc laughs, "Thanks. It's just one of the teams got a win from last week's game, and we're celebrating."
"Ooo, how exciting." You tell him. "What're you doing outside anyway? Got bored?"
"That and I have to babysit Itto and my brother from choking." He points, and you hadn't even realized Itto was here too.
It seems they were having a chugging contest while other guys were playing basketball, volleyball, you know, actual sports. Itto lifts his empty cup, earning lots of cheers. Then, he spots you and rushes over like a puppy and lifts you in a tight hug.
"Y/N! You're here!"
You laugh while he puts you back down. "Yeah, I wanted to congratulate you!"
"Aw shucks." He blushes while twirling a strand of his hair.
"Hey, Itto! I want a rematch!!"
Diluc rolls his eyes, "I thought you were driving your ass home, Kaeya?"
"I do what I want, Dad!" He slurs, waving his cup around.
"Sorry, Y/N, I got to plummet that guy again," Itto says with a huge grin.
You nod, "Okay. Actually, have you guys seen Childe?"
Diluc crosses his arms. "I'm pretty sure I saw him dancing with some girls."
"Kay, thanks." You wave bye, then head back in, mentally preparing yourself for the ruckus.
When heading inside, you felt like there were more people than earlier. It was just so crowded it made you nauseous. You start smelling weird odors like sweat, vomit, some weed, and piss? You gag a little with that realization and speed up your search. You frantically look around, trying to spot that ginger hair in the sea of heads. You move around some more, earning jabs to the boobs by the amount of movement these people were doing.
Cursing you, drag yourself out of a tight spot, catching yourself from falling. You smooth your dress down and grimace, seeing that it gained some stains and lint. You huff, then look up, freezing upon seeing who it was. Scaramouche stood in front, frozen as well, holding a red cup that you know is filled with alcohol. He appeared rather pathetic. His hair was messy, and his clothes were drenched in sweat, making his eye bags even more prominent.
"Scaramouche.." You say, then jump when he chugs down his drink.
He wipes his mouth with his sleeve and squints at you. "You're really here?"
You nod, slowly inching closer. Scaramouche scoffed and took a step back, crushing his cup. "Let me guess…" You become wary of his movements. He's definitely drunk, but not to the point he's going to pass out. "Your new boyfriend brought you."
Your brows furrow in complete betrayal. "What are you even talking about?"
"That guy talking to you today." He says. "You guys seem pretty chummy."
You only stand there in disbelief and confusion because, seriously, what was he talking about? You're utterly offended by his comment. Sure, he'd get jealous, but not to the point he'd accuse you of cheating.
'It's definitely the alcohol talking.' You thought, but that doesn't make any of this better.
"Scaramouche, I don't understand what you're saying." You tell him in all honesty.
He scrunches his nose, "That- That guy with the pretty face! He has a mole."
Your eyes widen, "Are you talking about Ayato?!"
"I don't know his name!" He screams, and you roll your eyes, crossing your arms.
"I can't believe you!" You scream back. "You really think I would do something like that?!"
Scaramouche shrugs, swaying side to side due to the alcohol hitting him. "I don't know..he seemed to really like you."
Your lip trembles, anger boiling inside you. You couldn't believe this was happening. You expected him to be here, so it wasn’t a surprise—but after being away for so long, this first conversation feels kind of cringe. Your eyebrow twitches; you don't even want to entertain his theory. Your only goal is to find Childe and get home.
"Ayato is just a friend that I've met only today." You explain, fury laced in your voice.
He doesn't say anything. His face clearly shows immense anger, but he’s torn between believing you and believing himself. Either way, you both want to get out of here.
"If you're done, then leave me alone." You turn around and bump your face into someone’s back. Your foot tugs at the loose shoe lace, bending it to the side, which causes you to lose your balance and lean on Scaramouche. Even though he was out of it, he tried to catch you, dropping his cup in the process, but his balance wasn't quite there, and he fell right on the floor. Part of the crowd circles, gasping and talking about what happened. Frantically, you look at Scaramouche, moving his hair around, checking for any injury.
"Baby, are you okay?" You ask, completely forgetting your grudge against him.
He squints at you, his hands were placed right on your back for protection, as he also checked for any signs of injuries. "Yeah, I-I'm okay. Are you okay?"
You nod, "Yes. I'm fine."
"That's good." He says, watching you get off him.
You struggle a little to stand and lift your skirt to see the problem. You gasp at seeing that your right ankle has swollen.
"Crap." You mutter.
Scaramouche stands up, rubbing the back of his head, and slowly walks towards you. His other hand reaches out for you, but he pauses once Ayato pops right next to you. Despite the fiasco that just happened, everyone went back to having a great time, while Scaramouche had to stand there like an idiot as he saw some guy treat you better than he ever could.
"Are you okay, Y/N?" Ayato asks, and you nod again.
"I-I'm fine." You reassure him, and that was the last thing Scaramouche heard.
He completely zoned out, the music and conversation muffling to the max. He knows he's been treating you like utter trash. The nausea he's experiencing is proof of that. His free hand clenches his chest, wanting the beating of his heart to stop. Scaramouche came here to run away and forget, like always. He hated whatever God up there made him face you in the lowest point of himself. He looked like a mess, and he was. He regretted yelling at you, shouting such harsh nonsense he didn't believe at all. Instead of expressing like a normal person, Scaramouche goes and sabotages again. He doesn't want to lose you, but his mind keeps seeing you as a threat.
'It's me who isn't normal.'
Scaramouche feels the panic rise.
'I need to get out of here.'
He pushes through the crowd, not comprehending any noise surrounding him. He looks around in distress, trying to find his main source of escape: alcohol.
His breathing becomes heavy, shoving anybody in his way, and tripping himself every five seconds. With a hazy view, he finds the drinks and immediately starts pouring endless amounts of alcohol and chugging it down like crazy, some spilling out of his mouth due to his shaky hand. His determination to leave only grew stronger, certain it would finally erase the memory. He keeps chugging and chugging until his cup gets slapped right out of his hand.
Finally, upon seeing your worried face, he ends up tuning back into reality.
"Scaramouche, stop it!" You scream, tears appearing in the corner of your eyes. "You need to control yourself!"
You expected him to argue, yell back, or ignore and continue, but no. Scaramouche completely breaks down in tears, leaving you in complete shock. He clutches your shoulders in endless hysterics.
"I'm sorry, Y/N! I didn't mean to hurt you!!" He screams with his voice breaking. "I get it if you don't want me anymore, that you want to break up! You deserve someone better than me!"
You blink rapidly, trying to comprehend his words. "S-Scaramouche, I'm not going to break up with you!"
"Yes, you are! I'm such a fucking asshole to you when you're so nice and kind and gentle. You listen to everything I say, but I don't do the same for you! I didn't try to reason with you, but treated you like an idiot when you're not! You’re intelligent and determined, and I’m envious that I can’t express myself as effortlessly as you do! I'm jealous of my own girlfriend, I'm so fucking pathetic, why do I deserve to live??!"
Your mouth opens and closes, wanting to find the right words to say. You knew he got vulnerable when drunk, but not to this extent. The events must have been weighing heavily on him, causing him to react in such an extravagant manner. Scaramouche clings to you, hiding his face in your shoulder, the tears and snot damaging your outfit.
"I'm sorry, I can do better, I promise. Please don't hate me." His pleas were an instant sting to your heart. Yes, you were deeply hurt, but you never considered hating him. You wrap your arms around him, patting his hair.
"Let's get out of here." You whisper in his ear, as loud as you can for him to hear.
Scaramouche only nods, and you both continue to hold each other as you walk out of the place, earning a few stares, but Scaramouche's well-being was all that mattered to you right now. Luckily for you guys, this party was in the campus area, so you didn't need to worry about driving, but it was a long walk. Scaramouche occasionally offered an I’m sorry, but no words were exchanged. What made matters worse was that your ankle was still in pain, but that was the least of your worries. You're a tough girl. You'd literally take a bullet for him.
Besides, you're pretty sure alcohol poisoning was a bigger issue than a mere sprained ankle.
You decide to go to your dorm instead of his and let him stay there for the night. You helped him sit on your bed and take off his shoes. You were about to fetch some water, but he grabbed your wrist.
"Where... are you going?" He asks slowly so you can understand him.
You smile softly and cup his face. "I'm just getting you something to drink."
"But.." He points at your ankle, and you shake your head. "It's not a big deal."
His brows furrow, and you sigh, “I’ll take care of it soon, promise.”
Carefully, you walk over to your mini fridge, open it, and grab a water bottle for him to drink. You move back to him, sit on the edge of your bed, and take off the cap for him since he clearly can't do it himself right now. "Here you go." You say, helping him hold the bottle and making sure he doesn't choke while drinking. Once he was done, you placed the bottle carefully on the nightstand and made yourself comfortable next to him.
"Your ankle?" He asks, and you ponder for a moment.
"Um, I'll deal with that later." You say, pulling your blanket over the two of you so you're both snug as a bug. "Right now, I have to take care of my idiot boyfriend."
Scaramouche bites back what he wants to say because, even though it hurts, he knows you were right. You rest your head on his shoulder, hugging his arm. He plops his head on top of yours, enjoying the warmth that his body is taking in right now. The obvious night made you both relax and feel at peace for a few minutes. The tension you guys had was gone, but the issue still wasn't properly addressed. As much as Scaramouche wants to sleep right now, he wants to talk about his wrongs and the pain he made you endure. His brain is definitely confusing him about what to say right now.
"I'm bad at everything." He says, catching you off guard. "I don't…I don't know why I can never…talk.." He furrows his brow when thinking of the correct word he wants to say, but it's like he needs a dictionary instead of using his head. "I don't hate you." He continues, forgetting the word he was looking for. "You're…the best. I love everything about you. I don't know why I'm this way."
You can see his little pout and the glossiness of his eyes. His cheeks are a little puffed up, so he looks like a little kid being scolded.
You lovingly caress his cheek, "Scara, I know how hard it is for you to tell me you love me, and I don't mind. I'll be here for you." You kiss his cheek, "But you're too drunk for us to be talking about this right now."
His lip quivers, then suddenly embraces you, "I'm sorry for ruining our anniversary."
Your eyes open wide, then start watering. That's all you wanted to hear. You couldn't muster up any words, so you only hugged him back, snuggling your face in his chest.
The next morning was definitely not the greatest for Scaramouche.
He woke up with the worst headache and stomachache ever. On top of that, he was drenched with sweat, and his whole body was screaming to take a shower. He groans, rubbing his forehead like that'll help the pain. He lay flat on his back with his arm being squashed by your whole body. He can see the rosiness on your cheeks from the tears that made his heart sting.
You looked so beautiful as you slept. Scaramouche tries to push you off without waking you, but ends up pausing because of how unbearable his pain was. Scaramouche sat up, wincing and holding his head. He tries to take a breather and mindlessly yells at himself for going so overboard this time. Then, he yanks his hand to cover his mouth and begins to hurl.
The nausea was so quick that he ended up vomiting on your bed.
Of course, the noise immediately woke you, and you gasped at the sight.
"Oh my-" You didn't finish your sentence, but scrambled to get up from bed. One step and you fall, grunting. You look down at your ankle to see the bruising that formed. You decide to ignore it for now and run to the bathroom, enduring the pain, and grab countless towels and wipes. You run back to Scaramouche, who had stopped vomiting after a while, but he still looked like an utter mess.
He was sweating and overheated from the nausea, clutching his stomach and staring at his hand that was, unfortunately, covered in vomit as well. His head feels a bit lighter, nonetheless. Scaramouche watches as you throw your towels on top of your bed, then wipe his hand and mouth.
"Sorry.." He mumbles.
You only smile, "It's fine." You touch his forehead with the back of your hand. "How do you feel?"
"Um, gross." He replies, a little out of breath.
You nod, patting his head. "Okay, why don't you shower, and I'll clean this up."
You pull his arms to get him off the bed, but he is reluctant.
"What about your ankle?" He asks, staring right at it.
"That doesn't matter." You say and push him towards your bathroom. "I don't want a stinky boyfriend, you know? Freshen up, it'll make you feel better."
"But-"
"Oh, and I still have some of your clothes here, so why don't you wear that?" You wobble to your closet, grab said clothes, and hand them to him.
"Y/N, I-"
"Gooooo!" You push him again, closing the door right in his face so that he doesn't argue.
Sighing, you look at your now dirtied sheets and begin to work, despite your injury. You pulled the sheets with the towels on top and rolled them all into a ball. You might as well have done a complete bed change, so that’s what you did. It wasn't easy since you paused because of your stupid ankle. You still pushed through and ended up finishing even though it took a long time.
Wiping the sweat off your forehead, you sat on the floor, staring at your mattress.
You might as well be skipping today, too, because of how hectic everything is. You need to look after Scaramouche right now since he can't do it on his own. You sigh again, rubbing the bruise you had. You winced slightly but decided it wasn’t the right time to check it out. Now, consider how you’ll get to the laundry room. You might have to ask your friends, but you don't want to cause them trouble, especially since it's so early and they might be in class.
Your thoughts get cut out because you hear Scaramouche vomit once more.
"Scara! Baby, are you okay?!" You struggle to stand, then run over to the door, letting your ear listen in.
"I'm fine…" You hear him say, only to vomit again.
Frantically, you turn the knob and slam open the door. Scaramouche clutched the ends of the toilet seat, freshly washed and in his new clothing. He was panting, staring at what he threw up. You crouched right next to him, rubbing his back and moving his hair to see his eyes.
"Are you okay?" You ask, worryingly.
He looks at you, "Uh huh. I think I got it all out of me."
Scaramouche can see the pain in your eyes, which makes his heart ache. All he's been doing is causing you trouble. He feels so guilty for everything that he wishes he could rewind time. If he hadn't lashed out at you, you wouldn't have been injured and wouldn't have had to nurture him.
"Y/N, I'm sorry…" He says, and you only shake your head.
"It's okay, you just need to rest." You tell him, standing up to flush the toilet.
"N-No, not that. I mean-" Scaramouche is interrupted by you.
"Wash your hands. I'm going to make the bed more comfortable for you so you can stay here to relax. It's easier than making you walk over to your room." You smile and turn back.
Scaramouche notices your limp and frowns. He listens, washes both hands and mouth, then walks over to you. You had covered the mattress with two blankets, one for him to sleep under and a fluffy pillow, along with the plushies he had bought for you.
You pat it, "There, nice and comfy." You smile back at him. "Now, you can relax and-"
"Y/N, I'm sorry." He repeats, and you awkwardly nod.
"I know, Scara. You told me."
He shakes his head, "No, about- about yesterday."
You freeze, "Oh…"
Scaramouche bites his lip, "I shouldn't have reacted like that. You were being thoughtful and wanting to create a nice memory, but I was such a Debbie Downer and kept shutting you out. Nothing about you is stupid or annoying. You're perfect the way you are." He pulls on his sweater, looking down in guilt. "I should've just told you I wasn't comfortable with certain things like a normal person instead of yelling. I'm really sorry. I'm sorry for making it the worst day ever for you."
Finally, he looks back at you, awaiting your response. You were only standing there like a statue, remembering everything, everything that he had said, done. The yelling, his avoidance, the fact that he went straight to alcohol, and on top of that, threw up on your bed. You weren't able to go out on those special reservations or give him his gift. You spent a lot of money on everything, and it was all for nothing.
You burst out in tears, sobbing endlessly. You were grossed out, in pain, and exhausted. Overall, you felt betrayed. You spent that whole day, anxious about his thoughts. You thought about him every time, and not once have you cared to take care of yourself.
Scaramouche cautiously approaches and extends his hand. "Y/N-" but to his surprise, you slap it away.
You glare at him, tears washing your face. "I'm so fucking pissed at you!" You scream. "You- You have such a nerve to make me feel like shit!!" You stab his chest with your finger. "All you do is be grumpy and nonchalant, which is hot for a while, but gets so old so fast! Yes, I shouldn't have said those things about your mom, but god forbid, I try to be a nice girlfriend to you!"
Stunned, he doesn't even reply and lets himself be pushed around by you.
"You always think about yourself and only apologize when you see I've finally cracked! It's like you enjoy ripping me to pieces!!"
"That’s not-"
"I'M NOT DONE!" He jumps at your tone.
"I spent those past few weeks planning, writing, working, for our anniversary, and you know what I get? NOTHING!" You screech, clenching your fists. "You're so ungrateful! Instead of speaking to me, you run away! Do you know how much I cried? What makes it worse is that the men who cared for me were your own FRIENDS!! And don't get me started on your hatred for Ayato because, apparently, a guy and a girl can't be friends anymore!" You throw your hands up in disbelief.
"I get that you hate opening up sometimes, but you could've just talked to me instead of avoiding me because then stuff like this wouldn't happen!" You pause for a moment as Scaramouche remains silent, a mix of awe and fear evident in his expression.
"I know I can be a lot, but it was your choice to be with me." You sniffle, pointing at him accusingly. Your sobs get even harder as you continue speaking. "I always feel like I can't live up to your expectations."
His eyes widen, "No, no! That's not true!"
"But that's how it is! You're just…so mean to me.." Your sobs are endless, making you wipe your tears and snot away. "It's like you hate me…" You confess in between hiccups.
Distraught, Scaramouche engulfs you in a tight hug, kissing the side of your head. "I don't hate you, Y/N, I promise. I'm just a huge idiot."
"I'm sick of your excuses, you make me mad!" You hiccup, and he nods in agreement.
"I'm sorry. I love you, I do. I care about you so much! I was a dumbass for ignoring you like that! I was acting like a little kid when I should've reached for you instead of partying and getting jealous."
"You said I cheated!" You cry.
"I know, I'm so sorry. You'd never do that. I was being a drunken idiot." He replies, rubbing your back to calm you down.
You sniffle and pull away from him, his hands now on your hips. Suddenly, you yank his hair with force, causing him to yelp.
"That's for making me cry."
Then, pinch his nose. "That's for ignoring me."
You pull his ear. "That's for calling me a cheater."
You slap his face, earning a gasp from him. "That's for vomiting on my bed."
Sneakily, you twisted his nipple, earning the loudest scream you've ever heard from him. "That's for drinking irresponsibly."
Finally, as he covers his chest in pain, you kick him right where the sun doesn't shine. "And that's for ruining our anniversary!"
Scaramouche crumbles the floor, groaning in pain. You cross your arms, your tears are subsiding, and you appear more relaxed. "Also, you owe me a lot of money." Then, you smile and wipe your face. "Wow! I feel so much better! I guess talking did help us!" You laugh cheerfully while Scaramouche slouched in agony.
You kneel to his level, cupping his face to force him to look at you. "I love you, Scaramouche, but that was my last straw." His heart drops while you inch your face closer to his. With furrowed brows, you say, "If you ever pull something like that again, I'll rip your testicles off, feed them to Itto's dog, and cut you up like a kabob where you'll burn away in a desert for the rest of your life. Do you understand?"
Scaramouche nods slowly, in fear of saying something that'll piss you off.
You grin and hug him like you didn't just torture him. "Yay! I'm so happy we're okay now!" You snuggle your face next to his as he contemplates what just happened. You pull away, cupping his face again. "I would say I'm sorry, but you did ruin my life."
Scaramouche looks down, "I get it…"
Then, you kiss his cheek. "But, I am sorry for saying all that crap about your situation with your mom. It wasn't my right when you always lean on me to vent. You are always free to tell me what troubles you in life, and I want you to trust me."
He lets out a sigh and presses his forehead against yours. "I know you didn't mean to hurt me. What you said did sting, and that’s part of why I was upset—but I also thought you didn’t want me anymore. I guess I’m so used to people leaving me that I ended up projecting that fear onto you. I'm really sorry, Y/N. You are the best thing that's ever happened to me."
He rests a hand on your cheek and smiles. "You brought light into my life and made me experience love in the greatest way. You are the angel who guides me to the right way. I'd be lost without you."
You smile back and hug him. "You're my angel too, Scara."
Scaramouche hugs you back, his heart now at ease.
"So, will you tell me why you didn't like my plan without talking trash about me?" You ask, resting your head on his shoulder with a smirk. He rests his hand on your back and rubs your leg.
"It's not like I didn't like it." He says, "Some of it was just too much for us to do one day, and I don't like being around so many people for such a long time."
You hum, "I see." Then, you pat his chest. "Now was that so hard?"
Scaramouche blushes in shame. "No…"
You giggle and kiss his forehead. "We'll work on it."
He smiles before moving his hand down to your ankle. "What about you? Will you finally tend to this?"
You throw your head back, "UGHHHHH…" You pout right at him. "This was supposed to be a wake-up call for you, not me!"
He rolls his eyes, "I'm fine now. It's time for you to check this out."
"And you too, mister. You could've died!" Your hands wrap his neck like you're going to choke him. "I mean, seriously, am I gonna be the wife of an alcoholic?!"
Scaramouche grabs your hands and puts them down on his lap. "I'm not an alcoholic."
You look at him with a blank face. "Then don't be stupid."
"Sorry.." He says, starting to feel a little intimidated by you.
You huff but hug him anyway. "What am I going to do with you?" You say in a whisper, nuzzling your nose at his neck.
He hums, holding you close as well. "I won't burden you anymore. I'll do better."
You didn’t utter a single word, but you closed your eyes and accepted his words.
A nice, comfortable silence fills the air. You both missed each other's touch dearly. Honestly, you both felt like crying. You felt a sense of peace knowing that you could express your sorrows to him, even though it was overwhelming. On the other hand, Scaramouche was unbelievably relieved about your forgiveness. You weren’t going to give up on him, and he promised never to make you miserable again.
After a couple of moments, Scaramouche scoops you up bridal style to your surprise.
"Scara, what are you-"
"You're going to get that ankle checked out." He says and heads straight for the door.
Your face flushes, your arms gripping around his neck. "But what about you? Aren't you sick??"
Scaramouche scoffs, "I'm fine besides my whole body screaming in pain."
"You deserved all that." You say with a nod.
"Yes, and it beats having a migraine with a hangover."
He takes a good look at your face, which is unimpressed by his answer. "…But I'll check myself too since you're so worried."
You sigh, but he smiles warmly. "Let me take care of you." He says, kissing your forehead. "It's your turn to take a day off."
You blush while smiling. "Well, since you insist, I expect to be treated like royalty!" You boost, kicking your feet up.
Scaramouche playfully rolls his eyes. "Yes, your highness."
You laugh, "Come on, my prince, take me to the nurse!"
Scaramouche twirls you around, causing you to laugh even harder. "Right away, princess." He exclaims and kicks the door open, causing your jaw to drop in surprise.
"Scara!"
He looks down at you, "What? Don't like it?"
You shake your head, "No, it's just so not like you!"
He tilts his head. "I'm only acting like any prince would do to his future bride."
Your face grows completely red with a gasp. Scaramouche laughs at your reaction, "Let's not waste anymore time." He says and begins to run down the hall while you clutch onto him in awe.
You guys got many odd looks, but who cares? Everyone should be used to your guys' unconventional relationship. Love has no bounds, and it's clear when it comes to you two.
