Giannovyn family headcanons:
Iris von Hagen was born at November 26, 2028, inheriting Giann’s hair while also having Vyn’s eye color ^^
When she was first born, Vyn was actually more anxious and worrisome about being a good parent, due to his own experiences with his family. Although he would never explicitly mention it. Giann would notice his worries, giving his support through quiet, meaningful ways, like silent reassurance in the form of hand squeezes, exchanging soft gazes with one another, muttering words of affection in the quiet of night after managing to get their daughter to sleep.
Giann’s usually the one who gets up during nighttime, always taking the chance to go and check on Iris whenever she’s crying, and well because he is the only who can easily be awoken by the sound of her cries…
Whenever their little one is having one of her loud, loud, crying fits. Giann would try and sing any song he can think of at the moment to try and soothe her down, as it’s also what his own mother used to do for him.
Vyn would at times catch his little singing sessions with him and actually join in, surprising Giann for a moment before continuing on with the song, their voices blending harmoniously, until their little one starts to quiet down, her sniffles slowly dissipating as she eventually dozes off into a peaceful slumber once more.
Sometimes, Giann would simply quietly lay on the bed next to the two of them, watching the slow rise and fall of Vyn’s chest while Iris is asleep against his exposed chest, his heart filled so deeply with love for the two of them, knowing that he would do anything if it meant he could keep his new family safe from the world’s harm.
Although Vyn was taking time off from working at the research center in favor of Iris, his habit of doing his nightly self-evaluations audio diary recording didn’t fade away even with the added responsibility of being a parent.
Sometimes, you can hear the soft coos from a certain someone resting contentedly in the crook of his arm whilst Vyn’s voice eventually grows softer and gentler throughout the audio, occasionally going silent to simply gaze at his little one.
He notes the changing fluctuations that appear on the graphs, which was a stark contrast compared to the diagram’s usual consistent pattern, although he did expect this considering his newfound paternity status.
It amused him in a way, seeing still how unusually ill-prepared he was for something so monumental as being a parent. He couldn’t treat his daughter as the same he would with a young patient, which was something that took some getting used to, but in the end, he couldn’t be happier.
During his free time, Giann sometimes composes small lullabies for Iris on the piano :> even going as far as to buy one of those toy pianos for infants for Iris, watching as she pressed the keys first with curiosity, and soon enthusiasm.
”It seems someone’s going to be a composer when they’re older.”
”Already following the steps of your Papa, hm?”
Vyn would often read to Iris in the quiet afternoons whenever he had some time to spare, although his choices of literature were quite contrasting, from simplistic children books to his own psychology textbooks he hadn’t used since college, and sometimes an entire botanical encyclopedia.
”Are you…sure about reading an entire encyclopedia about different flowers to our 5 month old daughter is a good idea?”
In response, Vyn gave a whole rundown on the effects of reading such complicated texts to young newborns that lasted long enough for Iris to have already fallen asleep by the time he was done.
Ailine was the one who was appointed to be the child’s godparent legally by both Giann and Vyn, since she’s one of the few people that both men genuinely trust.
As their daughter grows older, she sees Ailine basically as another parent and a positive female influence, (eventually she does with Rosa too) that can help her if her own fathers couldn’t.
Austin adores his little granddaughter, meeting her for the first time around after a month since she was born, even indulging her with gifts that were definitely worth it and necessary, (in his eyes at least).
Although Marius never managed to meet her in person until much later due to being away for college at Florence. Giann sent a ridiculous amount of digital—sometimes even physical—photo copies and videos to him, always highlighting every little monumental moment to the point where Marius really wondered if his brother’s entire gallery was just filled with pictures and videos of his daughter…
Vyn had to sometimes reprimand Giann, placing his hands on his hips, giving him a stern glare—which Giann swore he never saw him do before—whilst reminding him that their child did not need nearly a hundred pictures taken in a single day.
Giann immediately folded at the sight of his beloved’s harsh gaze, apologizing to him and even their child, who merely giggled obliviously at her parents.
Neil actually was a tad less confident around the newborn, having only experienced ‘parenting’ through a young child, who was very well behaved for his age. But he also unsurprisingly, gave the two new parents pointers on how to handle kids when they grow older, for future use purposes, he says.
Neil most definitely told Artem about the new little von Hagen that was born recently which completely took him off guard, because??? Those two were married??? Since when??
“Since when were those two married???”
”They’ve been married for a couple years now…did i not tell you that?”
”??????? No?????”
Although Artem was completely floored by this information, he merely told Neil to pass along his own congratulations, and doesn’t meet the young child, until much later when she’s older.
As for Vyn’s relatives…well, Ogier was the only one that they really trusted the most, he was also one of the few first people who came to meet the new baby.
Vyn could’ve sworn he heard the former captain of the Haspran guard let out a small, quiet sniffle when he first cradled little Iris in his arms.
As for Reina, learning just how genuinely serious Vyn is with his relationship with Giann despite the circumstances of their love, warmed up to the pair a bit, and to Iris as well, going as far as to send mini antique toy sets for her to enjoy.
Eirik had strangely enough, been radio silent towards his son ever since the news of him being officially married to the eldest son of the von Hagen spread to the public, which said more than enough about his views towards this development.
It was disappointing, but it gave Vyn the assurance that he finally wouldn’t be pestered by the notion of returning home to take his rightful place as heir, and he would make sure that Iris would never have the displeasure of experiencing Svart nobility.
But it did not matter, none of his father’s words or the noble society of Svart weighed any meaning.
Vyn found his family, he built a new life in Stellis, surrounded by more love and support than he could ever fathom receiving as a young boy himself.
Giann….Iris…they meant more to him than words could ever describe, and he’d be damned if the world tried to tear it away.
As the Psychiatrist stared at the freshly-wiped framed photo, removed of any lingering dust that might ruin the picture’s appearance. He couldn’t help but feel his grasp involuntarily tighten at the frame, his gaze lingering on Giann’s wide grin and Iris’ giggly smile, reminding on how just happy he was before, how the world’s cruelness seemed to be dissipate in the light of his family.
Glancing back at the calendar that sat on the table near the entrance, it read: “November 26, 2029.”
Iris’ 1st birthday.
And yet; Giann was nowhere to be found.
