This time, it didnāt feel like that much time had passed before Grian woke up in his bed on Hermitcraft.
He supposed that was a perk of coming second, and of the winner being a repeat. He had spent practically no time in that weird limbo state in between perma death and the end of a game, and the Watchers hadnāt needed to hold a winnersā meeting to introduce Martyn, since he had already been there.
Ugh. Grian scowled. He had been so close to winning, it actually frustrated him more than if he had gone out earlier. Really, it wasnāt fair that Martyn had actually survived his fall into the square hole. Grian suspected that most of his frustration came from the crushed high of his false win, in that split second before he realized Martyn was down there, right after killing Gem.
Oh, no, Gem! He sat up in one swift movement, and immediately regretted it when a headache bloomed in his skull. He groaned and cradled his head in his hand, as if hoping that would help it. No matter, this wasnāt what he was meant to be internally monologuing about. Right⦠He killed Gem. He had been so in the moment, so blinded by his urge to win again, that he barely even realized that he had pushed her down the square hole. Their square hole. Oh, she was gonna be furious. He was better off going to apologize first and foremost.Ā
So he did just that, and forced himself out of bed. He stretched his sore limbs, making a mental note about where it felt particularly bad, and also made a point to stretch out his wings. Oh, how he missed being able to fly, whenever a game was going on. Curse the Watchers for binding his wings. He was out of his base soon enough, and despite the fact that Gem lived quite literally next door, he still flew over, too happy to be able to stop himself. He landed in front of her main build, and began looking around for her.
āGem? Geeeeem!ā
He called her name out several times, and each time got no answer. Hm. Either she was ignoring him ā which wasnāt really Gemās style, so he didnāt really consider that ā or she just wasnāt here. And if she wasnāt here, then the next best option was obviously Pearlās base.
Oh well, Grian had planned on going there himself anyway.Ā
Though as luck had it, just as he began making his way towards the neighboring base, he was practically tackled by a flash of bright orange hair.
āYou!!ā
Gem yelled out, aggressive and angry, but Grian could detect the amusement laced in her voice, so he wasnāt too scared. Just⦠a little bit. He stumbled backwards, his wings extending to help him regain his balance, as Gem grabbed the front of his jumper.
āHow dare you?! You killed me! You betrayed me!ā
He could see Pearl approaching behind Gem, laughing at the latter's antics. Grianās face broke into a grin, and he shrugged, taking on a smug tone.
āItās what a villain would do, Gem! Villains arenāt loyal!ā
Gem groaned for a second, and he could see her trying to think of a retort, before she gave up. She sighed, her grip on Grianās clothes loosening.
āUgh, I hate that youāre right⦠Iām still so upset. I never got to pvp you.ā
Grian snickered at her dejection. Well, sure, maybe he never did actually apologize, but that plan was in case Gem was actually upset about his actions. Which she didnāt seem to be. So clearly, no apology was needed!
Once she got her fill of glaring at him and playfully threatening him, Gem let go of Grian, and stepped aside. She had her time with Pearl, now it was Grianās turn. And he sure didnāt waste any second: in a flash, he was hugging Pearl tightly, burying his face in her shoulder. Oh, those last few days after her death had been absolute hell. Grian had always mourned all of his teammates, of course, but⦠It just hit harder when it was his big sister.
āOh, Griba⦠Itās okay, Iām here.ā
He hadnāt even noticed that he had started crying before Pearl was already rocking him back and forth, soothing him like she had done countless times before. But the moment he realized it, he only sobbed harder, the weight of everything that had happened after her death crashing down on him at once. Pearl diligently held him, keeping him safe and protected in her embrace. He was crying so hard that it was almost hard to breathe.
āPearl, I justā I feel so bad, if I hadnāt killed you with Gemās trap, orā or if we had stayed with you instead of sending you to fight on your own, you wouldn't haveā youād stillāā
āHey, hey, shh. Iām okay, arenāt I? Besides, I was gonna go out one way or another. You two are getting way too worked up about this, I swear.ā
His emotional apologies must have brought Gemās own grief back to the surface, because she soon joined the hug, and cried in Pearlās arms too.
āAw, come on, you two!ā
Despite Pearlās complaints, they could both see that she was just as happy to be reunited as they were.Ā
The waterworks kept on for some time, and once Gem and Grian finally stopped crying, Pearl suggested going over to her base for the day. They settled in her room, and Grian messed with the blanket and pillow arrangement until it was as nest-like as possible. Only then did he allow them to get into the bed. The three of them snuggled together, picking a movie to play in the background rather than properly watch. They still had a lot to talk about, after all.Ā
āI still canāt believe Jimmy got to fourth place,ā Pearl started in between popcorn bites. āHe scored higher than Scott, itās insane!ā
āRight?! Heās actually improved so much. Iām gonna start really fearing for my life if he keeps being this good.ā
Gem snickered next, āI mean, if you make sure to team up with Joel before he does, youāll be fine.ā
They were halfway through their second movie when a knock came from the door. Pearl yelled out āCome on in!ā, after which Xisuma appeared.
āX! Hi!ā Grian exclaimed with a wide grin.Ā
āHello, you three. I just wanted to check in on you, now that youāre back. But from what Iām seeing, you seem pretty okay?ā
Routine check-ins: they were all expecting it. This always happened when they came back from a Life game, and Xisuma had, overtime, grown less antsy and panicked every time half of his Hermits disappeared. Still, he liked to make sure they were all well and fine, and that they were able to get over whatever happened that time.
(Grian refused to acknowledge how that might have anything to do with the way he locked himself in his base for weeks after returning from Third Life.)
Pearl was the one who answered: āYep, weāre all good here. No hard feelings, right guys?ā
The other two expressed their agreement, prompting a pleased hum from their admin. Xisuma only stayed for a bit more small talk, before he left them to their devices. And Grian was more than glad about that: after all, this was supposed to be a Villies bonding moment.
āWhatās this movie even about?ā He asked at some point, shoving a mouthful of popcorn into his mouth.
āNo idea. The main actress looks great, though.ā
āUh, Gem, excuse me?!ā
Grian cackled at the banter that ensued. Heād missed this.
It was already dark outside when he finally felt sleep beginning to drag him under. The moon wasnāt visible tonight; he supposed it made sense, since she was sleeping right next to him.

In his time as a Forest Ranger, Tighnari had long gotten used to nursing people back to health. It had almost become second nature by now; he knew how to treat injuries, deal with most common illnesses, poisonings, or anything of the sort. His hands worked precisely as they reached for medicine or a specific blend of plants to soothe whoever sought his aid. He knew most things off the top of his head, and was known for rattling on about proper ways to care for oneself whilst barely paying attention to how his hands were moving . And yet, every time, he did things perfectly.Ā
Really, it wasnāt a wonder most people asked for him when they arrived at Gandharva Ville, seeking treatment.
While Tighnari considered himself a pretty selfless person, he did find himself having to turn most of them down. As much as he wanted to help people and make sure they were safe and sound, being a doctor wasnāt exactly the entirety of his job. Besides, the Forest Rangers had the ā somewhat annoying ā tendency to make sure he approved of their every decision. Naturally, that meant anyone appointed to help the injured was to be trained and quizzed by Tighnari until he could trust their knowledge was sufficient enough.Ā
With all that being said, Tighnari was well aware that he sometimes acted due to favoritism. Whenever the patient in question was one of his friends, he would postpone whatever plans he could in order to tend to them himself. It gave him an opportunity to catch up with them, after all, perhaps offer his insight on whatever reason brought them to the Avidya Forest in the first place. That, and he knew many of his friends were too stubborn to follow the proper care instructions, were they not coming from him. And while he knew he could be quite stern and intimidating in those situations, that never stopped his friends from asking for him themselves. They knew it came from a place of concern and care anyway.
ā¦Which, really, was the real reason Tighnari was worried when Collei came rushing to him. It was almost enough to make him drop the papers in his arms. She was rambling on and on about something related to Cyno, and her evident panic made her words incomprehensible. After a few moments spent calming her down and making sure he hadnāt lost what he was carrying, he asked her to repeat herself, slowly.Ā
āThe General,ā she cut herself off, taking a breath and pulling at her fingers āThe General Mahamatra was bleeding out in the middle of the forest. Some of the Rangers found him and brought him over, but he just asked us not to tell you he was here andā well, Iām not listening to him right now because it looked really bad and Iām sure youād want to know about that.ā
Tighnari let a beat pass, taking in all of that information. Right. An injured Cyno was not that unusual. An injured Cyno in the forest, slightly less common, but had happened enough that it wouldnāt shock Tighnari.Ā
What was shocking him, though, was both the fact that Cyno had asked for him not to know, and that Collei was this distressed over the Generalās state. Now, back during her first years with him, this tended to happen somewhat regularly ā sheād get uncomfortable around almost every injury sheād see. Tighnari had never pried into her past ā if Collei wanted him to know, heād listen, but that was it ā but from what Cyno had told him, he wasnāt too surprised with her reaction. As she grew up, she grew more desensitized to them, and realized that this was common in the life of a Forest Ranger, and usually far from life threatening.Ā
So it was all the more worrying to see her react like this. Before he knew it, Tighnari was rushing off after her, as she led him to one of the cabins they kept for patients. His ears were flattened against his hair, and everyone felt the air shift as soon as he stepped into the cabin.
The Rangers already inside swiftly left, but not before Collei shot a worried glance at her two fathers. Tighnari wasnāt quite sure if she was more worried about Cynoās current state, or about what was about to happen to him now that Tighnari was here.Ā
Speaking of Cyno ā wow, she truly hadnāt exaggerated. He looked terrible. He wasnāt even conscious, so Tighnari saved the anger and the nagging for later. He moved around and began tending to his injuries. His hands moved with practiced ease as he cleaned up the enormous amount of blood staining Cynoās skin. Once the red staining his skin was gone, Tighnari was able to take a proper look at him. A large gash on Cynoās side was still wide open and dripping blood. That seemed to be the worst one, but it was far from the only one. Similar injuries littered Cynoās arms, chest and legs, and the state of his shoulder pieces told Tighnari that his shoulders were only spared thanks to them. Beyond those fresh wounds, Tighnari could see more bruises and open cuts that, although visibly untreated, seemed older. He frowned ā he hoped they werenāt infected. It would make this even more difficult. He couldnāt see Cynoās back like this; for good measure, he slightly shifted him, careful not to disturb the rest of his injuries. The lack of blood staining the sheets beneath him was enough reassurance that Cynoās back didnāt need to be a priority. At the very least, he was thankful that none of his vital areas were wounded. The two who were previously tending to him had done a good enough job at putting pressure on his wounds to pause the bleeding, but Tighnari could easily tell that he would need to stitch them closed.Ā
He barely paid any mind to the blood staining his gloves. Cynoās wounds seemed never-ending, and even as he kept glancing at the rise and fall of the Generalās chest, the crease between Tighnariās eyebrows never faded.Ā
He hadnāt seen Cyno in several weeks now. Probably closer to a few months. That wasnāt unusual ā his job as the General Mahamatra often kept him busy, and Tighnari knew that. They exchanged letters and visited each other as often as they could anyway. Still, he was far from fond of this being their reunion. He never liked seeing Cyno injured in the first place.Ā
He barely noticed the time pass, too focused on what he was doing. He only realized how late it had gotten when he finally pulled back with a heavy breath and looked over Cyno for the umpteenth time, in search of another injury he might have missed. The door to the cabin opened, and Collei stood there, looking just as worried as when heād last seen her, holding a pot of soup in her arms.Ā
āCollei?ā Tighnari called out, standing up from the chair on which heād been sitting for most of his time here. He took off his bloodied gloves, discarding them somewhere to be washed later, and waited for his daughter to speak.
āI, uh⦠I figured youād be hungry, by now. I was⦠kind of hoping the General Mahamatra would be able to join us for dinner, but I suppose Iām out of luck.ā
The dejected look on her face brought a small smile to Tighnariās. He stepped towards her, reaching out to take the pot from her arms.Ā
āThank you, thatās very kind. Donāt worry too much, heāll be fine. Have you eaten yet?ā
Collei shook her head no, and Tighnari gestured towards the table in the cabin, placing the pot on it. He brought two chairs over, and made himself comfortable as Collei sat across him. Their dinner was unusually silent, with only the sounds of their utensils and of Cynoās breathing in the air. Tighnari almost found himself missing the manās unfunny jokes. At least they were a sign that he was well, he reasoned.Ā
Collei left after they finished eating, and took their dishes with her. Tighnari had planned on heading to bed as well, but every time he was about to leave, a nagging feeling in his mind stopped him. He would always look back at Cyno, and his heart would ache when he saw his abnormally still form. Eventually, he gave up on fighting it, and just made his way back to the bed where Cyno lay, sitting on the edge of it.Ā
He sighed and let his hand carefully trace Cynoās face, his touch feather-light.Ā
āYouāre the worst, giving me a fright like that. Wake up soon, okay?ā he murmured, staring at Cyno for a few more minutes before he finally moved and unwrapped a spare mattress on the floor. He fell asleep not long after, dreaming of two young figures dressed in Akademiya uniforms, and feelings blossoming on top of a tree branch.Ā
āāāāā
Tighnari had somewhat hoped that Cyno would have awoken by the time he did. But when the sun disturbed his nostalgic rest, he immediately noticed how the man hadnāt moved an inch since heād fallen asleep. It definitely didnāt help soothe his worry.Ā
He tried to ignore it. He trusted in his abilities, and more than that, he trusted in Cyno. Heād been through things that had left Tighnari panicked for his life before ā he would recover. At the very least, he tried to convince himself of that. He rearranged his schedule, getting things done while still staying nearby to occasionally check on Cyno and his wounds, making sure none of them had reopened or somehow gotten infected throughout the day. Collei was also checking in often, and they bumped into each other quite a few times. He couldnāt even fault her for being distracted from her work; so was he.Ā
What felt like an eternity later, when Tighnari was changing the bandages on Cynoās wounds, he heard him groan. His focus was broken, and his eyes snapped up to see the Generalās face scrunch up as he woke up with difficulty. Despite their situation, Tighnari felt his heart flutter at the familiar sight. He wanted to cup his face, but his hands were busy, so he refocused on changing the bandages until he heard a familiar voice, albeit strained and weak.
ā...I suppose Collei couldnāt keep it from you.ā
Tighnari tightened the fresh bandage around the wound, wiping his bloody hands off before he looked up at Cyno. Already, his eyes were wet with tears. Cyno looked so tired, so weak, so unlike himself. And yet, he had an almost imperceptible smile on his face, one Tighnari might very well have missed had he not known the man so well.Ā
āDid you expect her to?ā
Cyno gave a quiet chuckle. He shifted on the bed, wincing and groaning as pain shot through him. Tighnari immediately moved, rearranging the pillows to make him more comfortable.
āNo, I didnāt. I knew I was screwed the moment she saw me.ā
āGood.ā
Tighnari huffed. He wiped his eyes with a tissue, fixing his blurry vision before he moved to change another one of Cynoās bandages. The otherās eyes were fixed on him ā he could tell. One look at him, and he knew heād falter. Focused on his work, he did what he did best ā lecturing him.
āHow did this even happen? And why would you want me not to know? You know better than to hide injuries from me. Cyno, do you have any idea how worried I was to see you like thāā
āThatās why I didnāt tell you.ā
Tighnari stopped, stunned. Cyno had cut off his displeased rambling, and was looking off to the side with a guilty expression on his face. Or, well, it was a crease between his eyebrows and a slight downturn of his lips. But Tighnari had long learnt that was guilt. Cyno continued, āI had gotten some pretty bad injuries during my mission, and I was planning on coming here to see you and to get patched up. But on the way, I got ambushed, and I suppose I was faring worse than I thought, because I got beat up pretty badly.ā He turned his head even further away from Tighnari. āI didnāt want you to see me like this, and worry so much. Thatās why I asked them not to tell you.ā
Tighnari stayed quiet for a while after that. His hands worked mindlessly, changing each bandage until Cyno was covered in clean ones, but he didnāt reply. Cyno didnāt mind ā he was more than used to sitting in silence with Tighnari.Ā
Although as soon as he was done, the Forest Ranger felt a tear roll down his cheek, falling onto Cynoās chest. He turned to look at his face, his own twisted with anger and tears.
āYou are an idiot. You are such an idiot. I cannot believe such a smart person can be as idiotic as you are being right now. Did you really think I wouldnāt find out at some point? That I wouldnāt be even more upset that you hadnāt told me youād gotten so injured? That I wouldnāt want to make sure you've received the best possible care myself?ā
Cyno looked back at him, and now his expression really was guilty, and regretful on top of that. He weakly raised a hand, cupping Tighnariās cheek and wiping his tears away with his thumb. The fox sobbed into it, holding the hand with his own.Ā
āIām sorry. Youāre right, Iām acting like an idiot.ā
A pause.Ā
āI donāt like it when you see me in such a state. It feels like Iām failing to meet your standards.ā
Tighnari wanted to yell at him, to get on his case for ever thinking he wouldnāt meet his standards. But he knew how Cyno was, knew that he always wanted to impress Tighnari. It was usually flattering, but he didnāt find it so when it led to this.
āYou worried me to death. Collei too. Apologize to her when she comes.ā
āI will.ā A smile, small but genuine, as Cyno kept brushing Tighnariās tears away. For a while, only his quiet sobs filled the room, as he held tightly onto Cynoās arm, as if heād fall unconscious again if he let go. Tighnari didnāt like the silence. He much preferred it when Cyno spoke, no matter how much it annoyed him.
āYouāre silent.ā Tighnari spoke up, the meaning behind his words clear to Cyno.Ā
āIām not finding much inspiration right now. Iām sorry.ā A genuine apology, one that made Tighnari want to shut him up for feeling so guilty over seemingly disappointing him. He racked his brain for a joke he could make instead, as if trying to fill Cynoās role and lighten up the mood. It took him a while ā he didnāt usually enjoy Cynoās puns, much less come up with ones himself. Still, for Cyno, heād make the effort.Ā
ā...Why did the doctor get lost?ā
Cynoās eyes lit up. Tighnari was hesitant, but he saw the mix of confusion and excitement in the Generalās eyes, and it drove him to continue. āI donāt know, why?ā
āBecause he didnāt bring a compress.ā
A beat passed, and Tighnari cringed at himself. Cyno wasnāt reacting. He was starting to get really embarrassed, so he thought back to how Cyno acted each time he made a joke.
āDo you get it? Compress sounds similar to compass, andāā
Cyno laughed. It was barely a chuckle, really, but his smile was now noticeable, his eyes crinkling. āI get it. Thank you, Tighnari. That was really funny.ā
Tighnari felt his face heat up, and his heart skipped a beat.Ā
ā¦Hm. Perhaps he ought to indulge Cyno a bit more often.Ā
The tension in the air had dissipated, at least. He had stopped crying, and was now just holding Cynoās hand in both of his, resting them in his lap. He brushed his thumb over the back of the hand every now and then. Cynoās chest rose and fell with steady breaths, and if his red eyes werenāt looking at Tighnari so much, heād assume he was asleep. For now, he was glad to sit there, staring at his lover and reassuring himself that he was well.Ā
At some point, Collei had entered the cabin to check up on Cyno again, and gasped when she saw he had woken up. Cyno did as promised, and apologized for worrying her so much. She seemed to take the news much better than Tighnari had (then again, Collei did tend to be pretty forgiving with them).Ā
Speaking of, he sat in silence while Cyno and Collei talked, looking fondly at them; at his family. He brought Cynoās hand up to his lips and pressed a kiss to his knuckles, prompting the man to glance at him, though he didnāt say anything. Only once Collei had left, telling them sheād go prepare dinner for the three of them again, did he address Tighnari again.
āI love you. Iām glad to see you again, if anything.ā
Tighnariās chest warmed. He leant in closer, this time kissing Cyno on the lips, like he knew the other was waiting for. It was soft and sweet, everything he had missed and craved these past weeks. When he pulled away, he spoke against Cynoās lips, a hint of humor in his voice.
āI love you too. Next time, donāt pull all this just to visit us.āĀ

Klavier was well aware that he was dramatic.
It was an undeniable fact: anyone who knew the man would describe him as such. And really, he wasnāt doing much to deny the accusations. It wasnāt his fault that every single imperfection grinded his gears so much!
Still, no matter how good his reasons were, that didnāt make any of his breakdowns and outbursts any less embarrassing. Klavier lay in the middle of his luxurious bed, curled up on his side, his hair splayed out beneath him. His hands grasped at and let go of the sheets over and over again, trying to force himself not to pick up his unnervingly silent phone again.
It really didnāt make sense. He was a famous prosecutor, good at his job and charming, and an even more famous rockstar. Granted, he hadnāt done much of that second job in recent years, but still! Klavier was beloved, popular and so many people yearned for him.
Yet none of that soothed the aching emptiness in his heart, or quelled his loneliness.
Because the true problem was that: Klavier was lonely. No matter how many fans he had, no matter how many people looked up to him, it didnāt change the fact that he really didnāt have any friends anymore.
Ah, there he was again, being dramatic. Of course he had friends. But he was upset right now, so he deserved to allow himself some negative thinking.
Besides, where even were his friends nowadays? Daryan was in jail ā sentenced by Klavier himself, to make matters worse. Ema, who wasnāt in Japanifornia all that much anyway, barely liked him (he wondered, some days, if she even considered him a friend, or if she truly hated him that much). His own older brotherā well, if he got started on that, he would break down even harder. Trucy was a mere teenager. And Apolloā
ā¦Oh, Apollo. Klavier turned to lay on his back, staring at his ceiling. Somewhere around the room were exposed several pictures of him, accompanied by a horn-headed lawyer. Apollo had left for Khuraāin a while ago now. He still remembered the day he was told of his decision to take over his late fatherās lawyer office, and reform the justice system there.
From a logical point of view, Klavier admired his courage and determination ā they were always things that had drawn him to the man.
From an emotional point of view, though, Klavier missed him more than anything.
He sniffled and wiped at his eyes. Ugh. Embarrassing. Crying over a failed situationship. How many of those had he had now? Too many to remember. He both loved and hated how different Apollo was. How easily he had found his place in Klavierās heart, settling there with no prospect of leaving, only to abandon him and move to another country.
Right. Dramatic. Apollo hadnāt abandoned him. Apollo didnāt owe him anything, as a matter of fact. Certainly not staying behind and giving up on his career and family.
On days like these, Klavier could even find himself beginning to wonder if Apollo, like Ema, even liked him in the first place. He knew he was a lot. He knew he could be obnoxious. Was the lawyerās annoyance playful or was it real? Perhaps that was why he hadnāt hesitated to leave Klavier behind, barely gracing him with a phone call to tell him the news. Heād had to ask Athena for the full story.
ā¦He let out a heavy breath. No, he shouldnāt be insecure. If Apollo disliked, or even hated him, he wouldnāt have accepted all of Klavierās date invitations (although a much more credible voice in his head told him that Apollo definitely didnāt realize those were dates rather than simple hangouts). He wouldnāt have gone to every concert or show Klavier was in, despite how much he claimed to hate his music. He wouldnāt have gone out of his way to keep in touch with him. He wouldnāt have informed Klavier of his departure.
No, Klavier was well aware that Apollo was his friend, at the very least.
Still, that didnāt solve his current predicament. He shot a tentative glance at his phoneās screen ā still no notifications. Well, he supposed he had it in hand now. He barely even noticed the way his fingers moved until he was hovering over Apolloās contact. He wasnāt sure how much heād really thought about it before he was clicking on the call button.
Before he even had the time to regret his decision, the call went through. Klavier was far too stunned to speak, moving to place the device next to his ear. And there he heard that wonderful voice heād grown so attached to.
āProsecutor Gavin?ā
He cleared his throat before replying. He barely put any effort into the smile that appeared on his face, faint amusement in his words.
āMy, Herr Forehead, you picked up so fast. Were you waiting for me to call?ā
His laughter grew louder when he heard a groan on the other end of the line. He could almost picture Apolloās annoyed expression.
āHa-ha. Very funny. What do you want, Prosecutor?ā
Klavier grew quiet. What did he want, indeed? To talk to Apollo, of course. He couldnāt come up with an excuse in time, the lawyer already calling his title out once more.
āIāve missed you,ā he said, far too softly to be considered appropriate. Not that it mattered, with how dense Apollo tended to be.
But contrary to whatever reaction he was expecting, the other seemed almost flustered by the admission. His voice also grew softer; and Klavier could faintly imagine a small smile on Apolloās face.
Klavier. He wasnāt sure Apollo had ever called him by his name. Khuraāin must have really changed him. He heard the sound of papers being shuffled around, before Apollo cleared his throat and continued.
āIt has been a while since we last spoke, hasnāt it? What have you been up to?ā
āNot much outside of work, honestly. How about you? Not too overwhelming, fixing an entire justice system?ā
āIt could be worse. Have you not performed at any shows?ā
āWouldnāt the little Fraulein have told you if I did?ā
Apollo laughed, āYeah, yeah, youāre right. She would have told me.ā
Klavierās chest felt warm. Apolloās presence, even over the phone, was more than enjoyable. They talked for what felt like an eternity, catching up on what they had done, and gossiping about their respective circles. Klavier promised to visit the Wright Anything Agency more often.
āSay, Klavier,ā Apollo started after a pause, considerably more bashful than earlier.
āHm? Ja?ā
āYou, uhā¦ā Klavier heard some grumbling that he couldnāt pick up on, before Apollo began talking again. āWe havenāt seen each other in a while, yeah?ā
āā¦Yes. We havenāt. What are you getting at?ā Klavier stifled a chuckle.
āItās a bit too tough for me to take vacations, being the only lawyer here and all, but⦠Maybe⦠You could find some time to visit Khuraāin? I know some great spots, and Iām sure youād love them.ā
Klavierās eyes widened, his mouth agape and silent as he took in the words. Apollo was inviting him to visit. Apollo was actively saying that he wanted to see Klavier again, and show him the place he grew up in.
His heart was racing in his chest. Had he been younger, he would probably be burying his face in his pillow, his feet kicking behind him.
He mustāve stayed silent for a bit too long, because Apollo started rambling nervously, āNaturally, I understand if you canāt, you must be a busy prosecutor and I wouldnāt want to disturb your work andāā
āAre you asking me out on a date, Apollo?ā
It was now Apolloās turn to fall quiet, though Klavier could hear his breath hitch over the phone. When he replied, his voice was uncharacteristically quiet, almost shy-sounding.
āā¦Well, I was hoping it could be.ā
Klavier wasnāt sure he could be happier. He laughed. His free hand came up to cover his burning face.
āIād love that. Iāll text you when Iāve got everything figured out, ja?ā
It was almost like he could see Apollo brightening up in front of him, his voice cracking as he replied with an enthusiastic āYes! Yes, uhm, Iāll be waiting!ā
He barely paid attention to the rest of the conversation, too busy still floating on the high of Apollo asking him out on a date. It was silly, really. Heād done that very thing countless times already. Still, there was something about the fact that Apollo had done it himself. It meant that he truly was interested in Klavier, the same way Klavier was.
When the call ended, he suddenly felt a whole lot lighter. He sat up in his bed, glancing at the mirror on his dresser and looking at his disheveled state. He looked like a mess ā he tended to do, after a breakdown like this one.
As he stood up to clean up, he chuckled to himself. He really was dramatic.
Still, apparently, Apollo liked that, so he wasnāt about to change any time soon.
He couldnāt wait to see him. Before he even reached his home office, he was already beginning to wonder what he should bring on a trip to Khuraāin. And what gifts to bring to Apollo and his family, of course. He passed by one of the many framed pictures, taking the opportunity to stare at Apollo on it. It had been taken during a dinner with many of their friends. Perhaps Trucy hadnāt lied when she said Apollo was looking at him with heart eyes, because he was starting to see it.

Vyn jolted awake. He felt the plane shake, and a voice sounded over the speakers, the words only half-reaching his brain as he struggled to situate himself.
He looked out the window. Right. Stellis City. He must have arrived.Ā
He took off his glasses and rubbed his eyes, internally wincing as he saw his transparent reflection in the glass, his appearance anything but presentable. A sigh left him and he tried his best to fix whatever he could.
Once that was done and his glasses were once more on his face, Vyn took a look at his belongings and made sure he had everything. The plane had landed by now, and everyone was already starting to stand up and gather their bags, but Vyn stayed seated for now. He pulled out his phone, turning it on and switching the airplane mode off. Notifications soon started appearing on his screen, the last one showing a message sent only a few minutes ago.
āĀ You should be landing soon, correct?Ā ā
Right as he clicked on the message and opened it, the other person started typing again.
āĀ I knew it.Ā ā
āĀ Take your time, weāre almost there.Ā ā
Vyn sent a simple response, acknowledging the words before putting his phone in his pocket again. The door was finally open, and people were starting to get off. Vyn didnāt have to wait too long to leave the plane ā not many people traveled from Svart to Stellis, if he was being honest ā, and soon enough he was walking through the foreign airport, going through the final checks before being free.
The fatigue was starting to weigh on him, despite having dozed off for almost half of the flight, and he was looking forward to just settling down already. It was early afternoon in Stellis by now, and the more he thought about it, the more he realized that he wouldnāt be against a meal at the moment.
Just as he thought of pulling out his phone to check if he had gotten any new messages, a voice called out to him ā though it did take him a second to realize he was being talked to. Heād need to get used to being called by his new name.
āDr. Richter!ā
He turned his head to see two figures approaching him: Giann Von Hagen, he recognized from their previous exchanges, though the woman beside him was unfamiliar. He still greeted them with a polite smile and nod, walking to meet them halfway.
āMr. Von Hagen. I was just about to message you.ā
The said Mr. Von Hagen waved a dismissive hand at him.
Vyn shook his head and watched as Ailine bowed before doing the same.
āItās a pleasure to meet you, Dr. Richter. Iām Ailine Weiss. Giann told me a lot about you.ā
āThe pleasureās all mine, Miss Weiss.ā
Giann insisted on carrying Vynās belongings for him, despite the manās protests ā and they soon arrived to the car that was meant to drive him to his new house. Once all of the baggage was settled inside the vehicle, the three of them sat in the back of the car as the driver started it up. Ailine spoke up first, most likely in an attempt to eradicate any chance of an awkward silence settling, Vyn noted.Ā
āI hope your journey here wasnāt too rough? Svart is quite a ways away from Stellis.ā
Vyn was sitting next to the left car door, leaning slightly against it. He straightened up and leant slightly forward in order to look at Ailine while responding ā Giann sitting in between the two was hiding her almost entirely.
āAh, it wasnāt too bad, thankfully. I will just need to adjust to the time difference, but that shouldnāt be a problem.ā
Ailine gave him a smile accompanied by a polite giggle ā despite their efforts, Vyn could see their reservations towards him. They were clearly keeping up their professional fronts ā not that he could blame them, though. They were practically strangers still, and VynĀ wasĀ doing the same anyway. He didnāt think about it much longer though, as Giann cleared his throat and spoke up in turn.Ā
āWeāve been taking care of your house, so it should be all ready for you to settle in. All necessary appliances are present, and the water and electricity should be on already, but if you have any problems just give me a call and Iāll have someone fix it.ā
Ailine added right afterwards, leaning forward the same way Vyn had earlier.Ā
āThat reminds me, Iāve looked into some stores that sell furniture and decorations of great quality. Iāll have Giann send you their addresses later, if youād like.ā
Vyn hummed, a small smile dancing at his lips.Ā
āThat would be lovely. Thank you for all the help youāve given me, I appreciate it.ā
The two reacted in tandem, chuckling in response and shooting each other a glance upon noticing that.
āItās only natural. We hope to welcome you into Stellis as well as possible.ā
Ailine expressed her agreement, and the small talk came to a stop. Vyn fell into thought, slumping ever so slightly against the car door again. He had looked into the neighborhood his new house would be in ā Hemingway Heights, Giann had told him. The neighborhood was nice, from what he had seen. Well taken care of, and the area surrounding his street had quite a few stores, so he would have places to go at least. On top of that, it was the district made to promote higher education, which meant many universities and research institutions would be close to his living place. Giann had also sent him pictures of the house he had found him ā it was more than enough, he thought. A definite downgrade from the Dukeās palace in Svart, but Vyn didnāt need such unnecessary space anyway.Ā
He was just glad to have a garden, and enough room to properly arrange everything he wanted.Ā
The voice of the very man he was thinking about sounded next to Vyn, and he turned his head to meet a smiling face ā quite smug-looking, if Vyn were to look closer ā as Giann inquired. A chuckle left him and he pushed his glasses back up on his nose, looking back at the front before answering.Ā
āYes. Itās exactly as you described. I must thank you again for all your efforts.ā
āPlease, itās my pleasure. Iām glad to have met your expectations.ā
The driver had already placed all of Vynās baggage on the front porch, and soon enough he was being welcomed inside, Giann and Ailine both following behind him. The house smelled nice, and looked clean ā Giann wasnāt lying when he mentioned he had been taking care of it until now. He had asked Vyn thoroughly about his opinion on the arrangement, and while Vyn could see a few things he would move eventually, it was overall perfect.Ā
Once they had toured the house and garden, the group found itself once again in front of it and talked. Ailine checked the time and looked up at Vyn right as they were about to share their goodbyes.Ā
āDr. Richter, I donāt suppose youāve eaten since your flight, have you?ā
After a hum of thought, Vyn replied.Ā
āI have not, no.ā
Before he had the time to add anything, Giann cut in.Ā
āWell itās already dinner time, so why not join us for it? My treat.ā
Ailine gave a protest at the last part, to which Giann responded with a bashful laugh, and Vyn gave a smile. Who was he to refuse an invitation, after all? Besides, he had to admit he was really hungry, and wasnāt sure he wanted to make dinner himself.Ā
āOf course, I would love to.ā
The smiles the couple sent him lifted his spirits, and they were soon on their way once more after they had decided on a restaurant to take him to, for his first meal in Stellis.Ā
Giann and Ailine had chosen a restaurant owned by the Weiss family, Vyn had been told on the way there, to guarantee him a great first experience, Giann said. The restaurant was clearly luxurious: and they were led to a private table, secluded from the other guests in the restaurant. Since Giann had already offered to pay ā not without another complaint from Ailine ā, he ushered Vyn to order whatever he wished for and not hold back. Silence fell among the three of them as they looked over the menu, and Vyn carefully weighed the different options in his mind. Finally they placed their orders, and engaged in more idle chatter ā though Vyn found himself curious about his hosts.
āSo, Miss Weiss, your family owns this restaurant?ā
Ailine glanced towards him and nodded.Ā
āWe do, yes. The Weiss family is known for its hotels and restaurants. Itās why we are Paxās partners, actually.ā
Vyn gave a hum of acknowledgement, chuckling to himself before looking towards Giann instead.Ā
āSeems like Pax invests in just about anything, doesnāt it?ā
Giann laughed in return, the corners of his eyes crinkling with a wider smile than he had given Vyn before.Ā
āWell, it is a good idea to invest in several areas. It allows Pax to help development and to build relationships. I mean,ā he gestured towards Ailine and their rings, āAiline and I would have never known each other, nor gotten engaged, if our families werenāt business partners.ā
Their dishes arrived not long after, Vyn enjoying his light ā and free ā dinner with the company of his two new acquaintances.Ā
It was already late into the evening when the group finished their dinner. Fatigue was catching up with Vyn ā and he wanted nothing more than to lay down into his bed and get a good nightās rest. Giann and Ailine offered to drive him back, and at the risk of relying on them too much for a day, he accepted. He didn't have much of a choice anyway, really, what with still being unfamiliar with the city and having relatively no way to get to his house on his own ā and there was no way he would risk trying out public transport this late into his first day in Stellis.Ā
Finally, he was back in front of his house, saying his goodbyes to the couple for the day. Giann looked at him through the window of the car, giving a final list to welcome Vyn properly.Ā
āYou can get in touch with Stellis University from 8am to 7pm, weekends might be trickier though. As for myself and Ailine, well, just text me anytime and Iāll get to you as soon as possible!ā
Vyn thanked him once more, nodding as Giann went on about everything he might need to know ā despite Vyn already being aware of most of those anyway. It was a kind gesture, so he didnāt say anything. Finally, Giann was done, and he grinned.
āAt the risk of repeating myself: welcome to Stellis, Dr. Richter. It was a pleasure finally meeting you in person.ā
And Vyn smiled in response.
āIt was a pleasure as well, Mr. Von Hagen, Miss Weiss. I will see you next time.ā
The two drove off, and Vyn finally settled into his new bed, in his new house, in this brand new city, ready for his first night.Ā
iāve been super inactive all summer huh šµāš« iām really sorry, i still donāt have anything to offer (yet⦠working on a multi chapter fic but only chap 1 is done) and i probably wonāt for a while⦠starting uni and all so my time is going to be very cut down!!!!
"meeting her partnerās parents?! Thatās a terrifying situation!!" Futaba is going to destroy herself with worst case scenarios and be floored they aren't true. "s/o? Are you're parents paid actors?" "What? No." "Robots? Aliens? Pod people?" "What you are talking about?" "They're way too nice to be real. They haven't threatened me if I hurt you or said I was bad for your future." "What exactly were your expectations for this?" "Honestly? Being forbidden from seeing you followed by secret dating."
ššš futaba has a wild imagination, but thatās also so sweet honestly
caught up with my (admittedly short) inbox yayyy! requests are closed for the moment because i cannot keep writing for persona 5 im getting tired /hj, but also because i think im slightly burnt out and would like to take a break to write more self indulgent stuff (or indulge in other hobbies more)
"she does an endless amount of research" Knowing Makoto, that will apply to s/o's parents as well. She's going to be dropping not-too-subtle questions about them for weeks, memorizing the info, and having s/o quiz her on it. "So what's your mom's star sign again?" "Makoto, this is getting ridiculous. Everything will be okay." "This needs to be perfect. Anything less could be disastrous." "It can't be that-" "Don't you remember what happened when you met Sae?" "I don't want to talk about that."
sae's a special case tbh š she'd look into the partner's background and give them a whole interrogation. makoto's scarred and is scared to suffer the same fate.
After an ordeal so prolonged and painful it felt like he birthed the oneshot from his flesh and blood, he created what would be one of many stories for his friend. Sadly, he underestimated Kenjiās inability to keep his thoughts to himself. And his own, though vast, capacity to remain stoic.
āIāve got a new inspirationā Kenji exclaimed after school, over a bowl of his beloved ramen.
āIs that so?ā The shorter teen hummed.
āYeah! Iāve done some reading and I thought I could try and ask her to eat lunch with me like, just for company. And then when she would come I would be waiting with her favourite snacks prepared and she would go like āoh, you shouldnāt haveā and I would tell her ābut I wanted to anywaysā and sheād smile softly and slowly she would begin to look at me differently as our plan progressesā he said proudly, quoting the story he requested word for word.
Makoto choked on his ramen.
āI-ā he had to reach for water. That brief pause allowed him to collect his words āyou donāt know how to cookā
Kenji waved his hand, dismissing him.
āFor her I can learnā a grin grew on his face. One than less so resembled a good natured smile (at least to Makoto) and more so Grinchās signature expression. The taller boy leaned towards him, gently poking his side āwith your helpā
Looking into his hopeful eyes would only make it worse. But even staring ahead did little to persuade the dark haired teen out of saying the last thing any sane, in his book, person should. And so, with a heavy sigh, he agreed.

i cant even remember how long ago you sent this and im so terribly sorry??? burnout and stuff and ive avoided tumblr for so long š
"After an ordeal so prolonged and painful it felt like he birthed the oneshot from his flesh and blood." this is starting well
kenji you are so stupid. affectionately. but so stupid.
"Makoto choked on his ramen." biggest reaction ever seen from makoto yuki from hit game persona 3
"āFor her I can learnā" ....malewife potential? /j
"The taller boy leaned towards him, gently poking his side āwith your helpā" buddy do you want your teacher or your friend im getting mixed signals here
"And so, with a heavy sigh, he agreed." so is makoto just searching for any excitement in his life
While traveling through the Metaverse, Ann, Makoto, Futaba, and Haru find their s/o's shadow. When approached, it reveals that their s/o has some serious confidence issues, especially in their relationship with the girls. Like "Why would she love someone like me?" or "She's going to dump me any day now." or "She deserves someone better." etc. Could we please get some headcanons on how would they react/deal with it? Would they confront s/o directly? Fight the shadow? Thanks!
Ann + Makoto + Futaba meeting Reader's shadow! (separate)
relationships: ann/reader, makoto/reader, futaba/reader
tws: slight implied self deprecation?
wc: 298
extra: ahhh im so sorry for how long this took to make, and for the lack of haru... inspiration was not reaching me no matter how hard i tried and it was stressing me out more than anything, which is why it might not be as good as usual because i wanted to at least give something. i hope this still satisfies you, and thank you for the request!
Ann :
Annās immediate reaction is an urge to beat the shadow.Ā
Sheās very protective about her partner ā she wonāt allow anyone to talk badly about them, and that includes their shadow!
Itās the other Phantom Thieves who try to reason with her.Ā
Shouldnāt she seek to resolve this with her partner herself, instead of causing them to have a change of heart?
Ann can see the logic behind that and she gives up on fighting the shadow.Ā
ā¦Still, after talking with her partner, she secretly seeks Futabaās help to make sure their shadow disappeared.
Makoto :
Makoto feels very distraught at first.Ā
She canāt believe her partner feels like that, and she couldnāt even tell!
She feels very guilty for letting it get this bad.Ā
Still, she asks the Phantom Thieves to not battle the shadow. Sheād rather solve it herself.Ā
And so she goes to talk with her partner about it, hoping to soothe their worries.Ā
It still nags at the back of her mind sometimes, and she makes sure to reassure them excessively, hoping they donāt fall back into that mindset.Ā
Futaba :
Futaba freaks out the moment she sees her partnerās shadow.Ā
The Phantom Thieves have to pull her out of her trance ā sheās overthinking about it and not giving them any instructions.
Joker is the one who ultimately decides to retreat without fighting them, and makes sure sheās feeling alright.
She unfortunately procrastinates talking to her partner about it. She keeps finding excuses, avoiding the subject, or straight up avoiding them ā she canāt possibly face them after learning all this.
Eventually she does gather her courage to reassure them, because she absolutely doesnāt want her partner to feel insecure about their relationship, especially not when she feels so lucky to have them in the first place!
"It wonāt be unusual to see Ann spend time with her partnerās parents" That's really depressing to consider with how vacant Ann's home life is. When she goes to s/o's place filled with love, it just makes her own house feel even emptier. Poor girl will find any excuse to come over. "Hey, s/o! Ready to study?" "We were going to study?" "Yeah, we have that big math test coming up." "Wasn't that last week?" "Oh, right. This is for the next one?" " ...Ann, do you want to stay for-?" "Desperately."
this is so sad wahhhh.... ann definitely likes spending time with her partner's family because for once, she is somewhere that feels like a family. and they welcome her everytime!
I'll send you the next bit soon then^^ all I can say is that I promise that they will both stay disasters till the end. Love that for them^^
And that's soo cool that you cosplay to. I'm sure it was amazing^^ first day Iām doing Chidori (the most real and relatable character created, alongside Yukiko) and then the next day Iāll be Kotone. IF I will be able to speedeun it, I might try to do Gregor from Limbus on the third day. Not that I fit him particularly well (I can look like a bot easily but a man in his mid 30s??? Not really) but I like him a ton and everyone in my friendgroup has ātheirā character, he is one for me
Being turned into the magician Arcana isn't too bad, I love them truly^^
Yeah, the prices can be a lot. That's why im making my own^^ also, like I said, Kenji would be⦠a lot if he knew he had fans. That boy can hardly be normal as is (and I love him either way, heās great). If he found out through some fanfic-worthy crossover antics, I would be subjected to the worst possible āflirtingā known to mankind

hi! sorry again for putting off answering for so long.... graduation exams have drained every single bit of energy out of me.
im not sure if your con has passed yet or not but either way those are some nice cosplays!! hope you could/can cosplay gregor, he truly has the design ever he is so yummy
i honestly might have overestimated myself by believing i could write during exam period... requests are still open, but i will not be getting to them until the 28th at least!
good luck to everyone else who's going through exams right now, you can do it!!!!
Hey! I just wanted to say that you shouldn't worry about taking your time to write something, especially now. You had exams and that should take priority. I completely understand if it took a while. Honestly, you still got it out pretty fast all things considered. If anything, writing as good as yours is worth waiting for. Thanks for doing it and keep up the good work.
hello!!
thank you so much š this is so flattering aaah
unfortunately as i am graduating this year my exams will go on until the end of june, but i love writing and i feel so bad making people wait for their requests so i still try to get them done as soon as possible...
