The winter skeletons of Inula magnifica (giant inula, giant fleabane) are still creating a display and providing a habitat for overwintering insects. The old foliage and flowers have a great sculptural quality if you spare the time to look at them more closely. This tall (up to 2m) upright perennial has large, yellow daisy-like flowers in the summer. It favours growing in a damp location and is vigorous enough to be in rough grass in water retentive soil.
