Review: Broken Prince By Erin Watt – A Royal Affair!

The story continues when Ella Harper believes that Reed Royal had slept with Brooke Davidson. After finding them in bed together, Ella is angry and heartbroken and decides to flee form the Royal house to start a new life. Soon after the entire Royal household is furious with Reed. They'd grown to love Ella as much as they had originally despised her and nobody is happy to have her gone. Meanwhile, At Astor Park Prep Academy Without the Royal brothers to keep things in check, Jordan Carrington and Daniel Delacort have unleashed terror on anyone they consider beneath them and to overthrow Reed, Easton, Sebastian, Sawyer and become the new leader. You'd swear these people were fighting the good fight overseas for years instead of just going to school to get an education. Anyways, soon after, Callum Royal is able to find Ella and bring her home. Although she's not happy about it, she is not looking forward to facing Reed after his betrayal, she realizes that her actions have affected others as well. Ella makes amends for the pain that she caused to Easton, and Valerie Carrington when she left abruptly. Reed is fighting to get into Ella's good graces. He is determined to win her over again, However she seems equally determined not to be fooled by him again. His betrayal is not something that she's willing to easily forgive or forget. Broken Prince is addictive and provocative web of secrets, lies, and intrigue, that seems to grow and morphs with every turn of the page. Some of those questions are answered, a few truths are unearthed, bonds are forged and broken. As it all leads up to another epic bombshell cliffhanger that the reader will not see coming!

This time the story is told through Reed Royal's POV as well as Ella Harper's POV. I enjoyed that the reader is able to explorer Reed's throughs, feelings and you'll learn just how much Ella means to him. One of his characteristics I liked is he was able to showed his love for Ella and admitted it without regrets or problems saying it. As I said on my last review for Paperless Princess it really helped the reader understand him more as well as evolving him into a more rounded and dynamic character. As for Ella, she didn't let guard down and easily forgive Reed. Ella as always is smart, observant, tough, brave, strong was able to defend and stand up for herself and others. There relationship, on the other hand, was very dramatic. Reed and Ella continue their chemistry and cheesy dialogues, amidst is all of the distrust and bickering. As for the secondary characters the royal boys are more involved in the story. Easton Royal did provide humor dialogue in the story but as well as something more deeper and complexed about his character. His friendship with Ella was cute, funny and treated her right as well as to be a brother figure/friend to her and always was on her side for dealing with intense situation.

Fortunately for The twins Sebastian and Sawyer there isn't much either except that they're twins, they do seem to blend into the background and not utilize as much in the stories. For the older brother Gideon Royal, you're does find out that he is being blackmailed by Dana, Ella's father's wife and that he is being tormented by her, there's an interesting development that happens as the story develops as it would surprise the readers. As for Callum Royal, he does treat Ella like his own daughter and would do anything to keep her safe. Ella's best friend Valerie Carrington is an supporting character and his is there for Ella to help her with dealing with Reed and the rivalries at Astor Park. Daniel Delacort Will be everyone's hate character. He is an out right creep, ember do anything to drug girls and seduce them. Just seeing what he did to read that is out right despicable and is sure to make he readers blood boil. The one character that devious vixen is none other than Brooke Davidson. Brooke is a piece of work, she's so evil, and manipulated the reader cannot help but just despise her. The character development has certainly have impact the story.

Once again Erin Watt has done it again provides the reader with stunning, intense, angst-filled and thrilling story. Erin's writing has done a great job in pacing, and keeping the reader engaged in the story. The crafty drama, unique conflicts and intrigue really makes this book series one of a kind and I will always want to go back into this chaotic world. All of the character development has improved along with their poor decision making skills gives you anxiety. However, feel sometimes that the plot would be slow sometimes and I wasn't sure if it was a type of filler or part of the story. After the ending cliffhanger, I'm looking forward to diving into the third installment of the series Twisted Palace!

Our story begins with a seventeen girl named Ella Harper. She is living on her own after her mother passing away and never having known her father. To support herself Ella is forced to resort to stripping and dancing for money to survive and to put a roof over her head. While she was stripping she encounters a man named Callum Royal, best friend to Ella's deceased father. He tells her that he new her father and that he is now her guardian. Once Callum learns of Ella's existence, he makes it his mission to take her under his wing and treat her as the daughter he never had. However, Ella doesn't believe him and has no intention of leaving with Callum, who claims to be the best friend of her recently deceased father. He is a very wealthy man and, offers Ella Ten thousand dollars for each month she stays with him. With much resistance and Despite her best efforts to evade him, Callum persists until he has Ella on a plane and headed to his home in Bayview. When Ella Arrives to Callum's home she meets his five sons, Gideon, Reed, Easton, and the twins Sebastian, Sawyer Royal. unfortunately the five teenage sons make their distaste for Ella equally clear, They believe, she a charity case, to have motives to harm their famaly, and accused to being a gold digger. Reed is the second oldest son and is clearly calling the shots. That are determined to do everything in their power to send to make he life a living hell and send back to were she came from. While Ella is fighting the cat and mouse game with the Royal sons, She is submersed in a world of luxury, glamour and excess that she'd never imagined existed in real life. Ella is taken clothes shopping by Callum's girlfriend Brooke Davidson. Ella feels that there's something off with her but decides to dismiss it because because she needs all the friendly faces she could talk too. Soon after she is enrolled in Astor Park Prep Academy an elite prep school and struggles to adjust to her new life and blend in, because the Royal boys rules the school complicating her socially from having any friends, despite more complications on having to doge Jordan a mean girl who has it out for Ella. However she does make a new friend, Valerie Carrington and is there to help Ella navigate her rocky new life. There is sexual tension between Reed and Ella is obvious there. However neither one likes the other, sometimes it seems like Reed straight up despises Ella, But the reader can feel the chemistry between them. As the story progress and with giving the plot away. Paper Princess is filled with angst/drama galore, revenge, twists and turns, and a bombshell cliffhanger that will leave the reader's head reeling!

Before I begin the character breakdowns, it should be noted that that the story does not involved a royal family ruling a country like I thought. I did felt taken aback by the name of title and series, which can come across as confusing to the reader picking up the book for the first time. However the story is told in Ella Harper's POV. Ella is a kick-ass feisty heroine. She is brave, smart, tough, and most importantly not whiney at all. I love that about her. She is also stands her ground type of character, brave, and one who dealt with her complex situations with her head held high. Throughout out the story Ella and Reed's volatile's relationship does develop into three stages: Hate, Lust and Sex. Ella is feisty heroine who falls for Reed who is a total douchenozzle when he's not being charming. Reed Royal can be downright despicable and intolerable for most of the beginning of the plot. He comes across as an emo child and uses his mother's death as a free pass to cause havoc on anyone whom he sees fit. As a male reader I wouldn't be friends with the Royal boys. It would be exhausting to be friends with the Royals, to assured that no one won't think he's a douche and that the students of Astor Park Prep understand he's a victim of circumstance. The one thing I did like about Reed is what he did to Daniel Delacort, after he was about to do something monstrous to Ella. He gets some credit. As for the rest of the Royal sons, Gideon is attending collage and not much is known about him. Easton is the first ones to warm up to Ella, I found the relationship odd at first because they share a kiss with one another but, you're thinking of being with other people, just using each other. that scene felt poorly written. As for the twins, Sebastian and Sawyer they felt one dimensional, just following the orders of their older brother. There father Callum Royal is very complex character he is clearly grieving for his wife, and best friend but I can tell that there's more to him I do believe that Callum really does care about her and want to take care of her and give her the life that she has always wanted but there is a small part of my brain that thinks he might have alternative motives with bring her to his house. I look forward to exploring more about his character development. They all started to form a relationship with Ella towards the end. As for Brooke Davidson, there is something off about her, and I can't wait for the reader to discover what that is at the end. I'm definitely interested in seeing how the characters relationships progress in the rest of the series.

Erin Watt writing is well-written, polished and fast pace. The Plot is told in the distinct manner of being such an addictive, electrifying and unbelievable story. As for the character development some of the characters were written very dynamic and others felt static. The characters that felt static were the Royal sons. they didn't feel like they were developed enough. They do come across as mysterious, brooding, and all of them wanting to terrorize Ella, through out the whole book. I wish their personalities would have developed a little bit more quicker in the book. I felt that their dialogue with short to the point and vague. If the reader could have more insight in to the mind of Reed or Easton' and to have them have there on POVS, I think It would benefit there character development and make them interesting and dynamic. This is a very exciting NA novel I have read in a while and if character dynamics we could have a masterpice on our hands. The ending left me wanting more, and I'm excited to dive in to the next book in the series Broken Prince!
