Taking a nap on my cultish Goat Master's legs.
Omg someone in twt has shared some of the questions of the new Beatbreak magazine article
Apparently the main script of the whole series is already finished. Only the final episode remains to be written.
The final boss of the series has already appeared, but they won't say who it is. In my own interpretation, that surely means Genjo is going to be the final boss lol
Also, it seems GIFT Arc will have a Team 7 episode...
(that doesn't give me a lot of hope for individual focus in Raito's character, if he has also to share time with Hotaruko and Granit... in just one episode... really feels like what I commented once, that maybe they just planned to give them 1 standalone episode to finish their arcs just like with Haruomi and bye... like a checklist... and they really didn't think anything else with Raito... my idea of Naito coming back for revenge and Team 7 having to team up with Raito just deciding to live with them at the end is gaining strenght...)
Apparently the GIFT Arc wasn't originally part of the series. The original idea was to follow the Tactics Arc with another one with a new criminal villain group, similar style. Someone however had an idea that resulted in Miharu, and that's how they decided to create this arc.
Miharu is apparently someone who could immediately understand all of Tomoro's feelings and all the circumstances he has lived despite having just met, which results in them feeling drawn to each other......
A part of Beatbreak is made by the staff observing the reactions of the audience. They don't just decide the future development of the series. They mainly check up Twitter and search for words like BEATBREAK, BB, etc.
Seems like Kyo won't have a lot of importance in this arc, instead remaining more in the background as a support. However, it seems that Maki's story will be revealed! So it's possible we will know more of past Kyo through their relationship.
There's a lot more info, but that was everything this person shared.
Yeah...I think GIFT is going to be the antithesis of Kyo's mantra: Everyone deserves a second chance GIFT: No one deserves a second chance. If you ever did anything wrong, you're evil forever And I think that Mahiru is going to try to take out Kyo while still courting Tomoro to her side. Because Kyo has deleted digimon, but Tomoro has not The irony being that if it weren't for Kyo, Tomoro would have deleted that punimon Kyo made Tomoro who he is
Mahiru, I get that you're 13 and likely was raised in this horrible environment to become a cult leader and don't have many friends your age to understand different mindsets but you are WAY to confident that Tomoro is gonna be easily swayed to your side.
All I can say is that if you want Tomoro to join you, you had better present your argument really well because while Tomoro does care about Digimon, he's not someone who thinks Digimon are to be worshipped.
He's impulsive yes, but not stupid.
Not to mention this is twice now that your group has gone after people he cares about.
Okay so my friend Ken had a wild theory about Beatbreak I just had to share. Spoilers, just in case.
We’re all probably thinking the leader of GIFT is Miharu in disguise, right? But what if that’s a red herring? What if the leader of GIFT has been set up since the beginning of the series, and that’s why they’re apparently a robot.
What if they’re ASUKA TENMA, in a robot piloted autonomous body driven by his consciousness/e-pulse in that Sapotama “stolen” by Gokuwmon? What if Genjo has been in on it from the start, and everything we’ve been led to believe about the relationship between antagonists is an intentional misdirection?
This would explain how Asuka knew about Digimon from the beginning and honestly fit with Ryota Yamaguchi’s past writing patterns in a lot of his series. A character turning out to have an identity we didn’t think they’d actually have that recasts the entire series in a different light is an idea he’s used in G Gundam, Digimon Savers, AND Dokidoki Precure.
There are some questions this theory opens up like “Why would GIFT blow up a hospital that houses Asuka’s cold hearted body?” but that begs the question of whether Asuka even NEEDS a human body anymore.
Anyway…this is just a theory my friend and I discussed and we admit it’s pretty unlikely. We won’t be too disappointed if it doesn’t come to pass but we wanted to share it.
The Digimon's Guilt
I loved today's episode and how it explored more of Makoto's and Chiropmon's relationship. In almost all versions of Digimon vs human storylines, it's always Digimon looking down on humans, and it's the partners standing up for them. But here Makoto is in the position where he has to choose between his own kind and his best friend, who is the discriminated party. And we saw both in episode 9-10 and this episode how Chiropmon feels guilt over Makoto's decision.
This episode actually gave an interesting insight into what GIFT's motivations might be. (Sorry for not providing screenshots. Crunchyroll only has the blacked-out screen, and I can't find anything else. will update if I can find screenshots)
In episode 28, Tomaro walks past Jokermon's partner as she sobs over their loss, and Miharu, looking on, asks Tomaro if he's really okay with this.
And in episode 30, Riku refers to Makoto as "a Traitor who works with Cleaners agents, the cause of GIFT". It makes sense that some members may not like cleaners because they interfere, but this could go deeper for other members.
Reina mentioned in the second episode that the only way to keep your digimon is to be a Cleaner, and any digimon not with a Cleaner is to be deleted by the World Union. we havend gon into it since GD doesn't delete Digimon, and all the criminals we've seen before the GIFT arc have had bad relationships with their Digimon. But the reality is that Cleaners have to kill another person's digimon partner to protect there parner fom the same fate.
And it seems in the next episode, Tomaro and Gekkomon are going to be facing that dilemma.
So her is my theory:
People have been talking about how they are bringing back the evil Digimon brainwashing humans trope, but Beatbrake is not that simple. While Jokermon could be all in for Braine washing their partner into worshiping them. We have seen in episode 27 that not all Digimon are for that life. Some Digimon members of GIFT could hate the worship but have no choice.
Imagine a digimon watching their cleaner partner that destroys themselves with guilt over killing digimon, but can't stop, or they would be killing their own digimon. Like Chiorpmon, they might hate the fact they were born at all. Then GIFT comes along, saying they can make a world where they can stay together. But they see how the brainwashing changes them and doing worse acts than when they were a cleaner with no remorse at all. But can they do their already a criminal and they don't know how to undo the brainwashing. So they accept it, thinking they should be grateful they can stay together without their partner feeling guilty.
That is usually how cult brainwashing works for victims; they don't realize what they got into until it becomes too dangerous to get out.
Now I want to see Gekkomon give the speech they gave to Mummymon to the other digimon, convincing them to break GIFT's control over themselves and their humans.
"Wandering Love" now feels like a huge forshowdoing episode for this arc. like... HOW DO YOU DO THIS BEATBREAK!!!
So now that the GIFT arc is over, I think it's fair to agree this is the worst one out of the three in Beatbreak...
I started watching shortly after the TACTICS arc wrapped up, I quickly got into the show, its characters and world. TACTICS seems to be the fan favorite but mine is the Glowing Dawn arc, where we were starting to get to know about Tomoro, his emotional turmoil as a orphan and social pariah, his relationship with the inmature and playful Gekkomon, getting to know his found family in Glowing Dawn, as well as what is going on in this divided, dystopian society and how it affects the characters. Ofc I enjoy Tactics as well, the titular antagonists and eventual confrontation were all excellent, but what I'm trying to say is that I also enjoy the more 'self contained' plots, and I'd say some of these were the best the show has to offer.
So with that said, by the middle point of the GIFT arc (specifically ep 33), even I was like "ok...what are we doing here? why is the pacing all over the place?". I didn't get to watch it as it aired but TACTICS was well paced overall, so what followed was weird. A 3-episode interlude and then GIFT officially starts, shorter than its predecessors and the focus was on and off from the titular villains, with the main plot and subplots wrapping up quick. Raito learning to control Perfect level and having gained Kaito's approval all offscreen, Reina suddenly lamenting she hasn't reached Perfect yet shortly before it starts taking its toll in the missions, and Miharu only starting to take matters near the end of the arc. I still like GIFT, glad to see Makoto and Reina catching up power-wise and Brilliant Thorn were classy secondary antagonists, but the flaws were hard to ignore this time, and I can see why others would be more disappointed with it. Me personally I really wanted to see a Reina vs Rose rematch, maybe it can still happen, who knows. What's next for Beatbreak is a 4 ep Kyo miniarc that looks to be more focused and I hope it stays that way for the foreseeable future of the show.
Well... that's concerning
