Zenos meeting the Scions with the WoL in an attempt to ease the obvious tensions? I can only imagine the hilarity.
As expected, Thancred has a rather murderous expression etched on his face.
Y’shtola looks miffed at best, Urianger stonefaced, and the twins keep looking between each other in that way that only twins can understand.
“I’m just saying...give him a chance?” you try, sighing as their expressions remain unchanged. “Look. I know that it’s a bit harder to overlook his wrong doings compared to say Nero,”
“A bit, eh?” Thancred grumbles lowly, obviously wanting to be heard.
“But...he’s behaved himself so far hasn’t he?”
Looking to the man in question, Zenos raises a delicate eyebrow, looking as disinterested as ever. “Help. me.” you whisper under your breath, to which he only rolls his eyes.
“I do not blame your little rag tag group of friends for being distrustful of me hero. It shows they have some form of survival instinct,” he’s barely deterred as you give him a hard smack, which with his build is like hitting stone. “There is probably very little that would convince them to give me ‘another chance’.” he finishes, brushing a stray hair from his face.
“At least we can agree on that.” Y’shtola huffs, throwing a pointed look at you. “Can you at least tell us why hero?”
You purse your lips, knowing exactly why but unsure of how to voice it without feeling like you might insult your friends. Zenos has you covered however.
“If they must tell you why, then you would not understand in the first place. I will explain to you anyway.” He sighs, relaxing in his chair.
“Why you,” Thancred is held back by Urianger, who finally decides to speak. “Pray give us the insight that thine feels we lack.”
Crossing his arms, Zenos looks across the Scions with a level stare. “I am the only one who understands them. The only one who can match their power, match their strength. Were any of you to take on the Warrior in a true fight, you all would be found wanting and you know it. So how could any of you understand what it is to be revered for your power?”
A silence settles over the room, the Scions looking to you to deny his words. You find yourself unable to, looking down at your hands.
“I suppose...there’s no arguing with that reasoning is there? When we’re the ones constantly asking you to fight our battles.” Alisaie chuckles humorlessly, her eyes filled with a dim acceptance. “I cannot say I fully understand, but considering all you have given us...”
Alphinaud nods slowly in agreement, smiling his classic smile. “For all that you have done for us, we have always waited to give back to you.”
You return his smile with a small one of your own, watching as the rest of the Scions slowly agree.
“I’m also far more handsome,”
“That’s it!” Thancred roars, launching himself over the table.
