Here are Gilbert's battle quotes against specific characters. I tried having him fight as many related characters as possible both from Faerghus and the church but this is all I've gotten. If you want to go quote hunting for Gilbert the chapter he appears in is from the quest called "A way to Garreg mach" from chapter 14 of Golden Dumpsterfire Wildfire.

Strangely Gilbert doesn't have an introductory quote against Dedue nor Rodrigue but the latter two characters do have special victory quotes against Gilbert.

Dedue mentions he's proud to have beaten Gilbert considering he followed in his footsteps to be a strong defensive knight.

Rodrigue mentions how his old age has caught up to Gilbert.

People calling Gilbert/Gistave the worst dad ever are wrong

There are SO MANY awful dads in this game. He's by far the least bad. And he doesnt just leave because he hates his family or something. He leaves because he feels immense amounts of guilt and depression about hia failure to protect his king.

Obviously the best solution for him is just to go back to his people and family, who will welcome him back with open arms. But saying that and dismissing his trauma is essentially akin to telling a depressed person to just stop being sad.

Obviously he shouldn't have abandoned Annette and his family. But like... I get why he did it, and he doesnt deserve as much hate as he does.

One Lone Lioness

The first ones to die were Ingrid and Felix... It was only a few days before the battle that she sang for him. Stupid little songs but when he thought she wasn’t looking he smiled so she swallowed her embarrassment and sang as many as she had time for.

Now she’d never get to sing for him again.

The next ones to die were Sylvain, Dedue, His Highness and... Mercedes.

Without her sugar just tasted like sand.

Then it was her turn to fight and across a sea of flames and blood she watched Ashe fall to the lazy boy she once scolded for skipping lectures to nap. Didn’t he hate blood? And yet he stood there in the middle of a hell-like battlefield drenched in the blood of her classmate.

She didn’t even see her father fall. She saw his body amongst so many others, his once shining armor painted crimson.

And when Annette faced the professor in that battlefield awash with flames, she turned away. She spared her.

Was it mercy?

Or was it punishment for not working hard enough, not being strong enough.

She was so weak compared to her father, Felix, even Mercedes. So why was she the only one to survive?

Just a little angsty drabble I wrote to honor Annette being the only Blue Lion to survive my Crimson Flower playthrough!

I am considering opening up to drabble requests, I like angst and ship most everything (Dimiclaude notp).

One sad thing to think about Dimileth: their first child will be stressful to have. I mean Dimitri's mother AND Byleth's mother are both died in childbirth right? I feel that Dimitri will order to Mercedes to stay near of them for nine months.

If it helps, Gilbert’s epilogue has him training “the young prince” when he retires from active duty. Dimitri’s the King. The only conclusion to be drawn is that Dimitri and Byleth do have at least one kid and there is no death by childbirth :)

But yeah, I forgot his mom also died that way. That would be REALLY stressful. *makes a note for a possible fic*
