The past few months were a blur. Meetings for meetings they'd had for meetings about meetings on omnics about omnics. His headstrong attitude had meant some fights but he'd advanced into more mundane necessities when it came to integrating omnics into life at the Headquarters. Zurich had become known for the forward thinking policies due to the efforts of Jack Morrison and the still somewhat mysterious 'Iris'. The monk was seen with the Strike Commander often when he was in town, and though some whispered, many just left the Strike-Commander do what he did best.
It was five months in when Athena spoke. An urgent concern regarding one of the safe rooms. A man had gotten trapped in there and he was being called to offer assistance given the skeleton crew around the base at the moment. Lunch hours were not the time for crises. He headed down too the location and entered in an override. The door gave a heavy noise as it reopened. He poked his head inside and looked around.
"Hello? Hey, door's open, you're fine now." He turned on the light as he stepped in, frowning. Nothing."
"Athena, are we at the right--" the door closed heavily behind him. He ran to it as he herd the locks seal in place. He pressed his hands against the door, grunting as he tried to reopen it. He went to the keypad and entered the override code, but the keypad shut down, going blank. He tried to force the door again, but he knew the safe room doors weren't operable by anything but the keypad. The safety measures had been removed, he noted as he searched the room.
"Athena, open the door, please," He tried. There was no reply, and he repeated the command.
"I cannot do that, Commander." Jack frowned. She usually referred to him by name.
"Athena, what's going on?" Suspicion crawled up his back like a spider, creeping up his spine. Silence answered him.
