It's #marchmeetthemaker once again, which I can't say is my favorite time of year, because I prefer to stay behind the scenes... But here's a reminder that though I mostly post stained glass work I make in my own studio, I also travel wherever gold leaf work takes me. I am a member of the @societyofgilders and specialize in architectural gilding and signage work. There's a wide range of what I do with gold leaf, but I most commonly gild and/or restore house numbers in New York City, as the trend that started in the late 18th hundreds is alive again today. If you don't think you've noticed gilded signage before, take a look on brownstones and other historic buildings next time you're in New York, Chicago or London (or local businesses like @sweetmaresas in Kingston), and you'll start to see them everywhere! This sign is 23 karat gold leaf (yes it's real gold!) backed by black sign paint, though I do regular hand-painted signage as well. I am all about any craft that is done by hand, by real people, and I love that gold leaf signage can last over one hundred years, so every sign has a story behind it (though most remain a mystery!). ✨🕵️♀️😊 . ℹ️You can check out more information on the gilding process and some of my signage work on my website, or contact me for more of a portfolio or pricing.ℹ️ #marchmeetthemaker #marchmeetthemaker2020 #signlettering #signage #gildedsignage #gilding #goldleaf #signgeeks #signgeek #signpainting #handpaintedsigns #handpaintedsign #nyartist #hudsonvalley #hudsonvalleyartist #hudsonvalleyart #hudsonvalleydesign #hudsonvalleylife #meetthemaker #makersgonnamake #maker #makers #moderncraft #signagemaker #customsignage #makersmovement #makers #maker (at New York, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9UgodKDMUx/?igshid=6n6ulznumlzn
