El Poema de Gilmagesh

Este poema creado en Mesopotamia y con origen sumerio es la narración o epopeya más antigua de la historia. Narra las historias, peripecias de Gimagesh, conocido como Istubar y de su mejor amigo Enkidu. Habla de como matar a un gigante, intentar bajar al infierno y la relación de los dioses, semidioses y los mortales, recordando un poco a las historias de el antiguo Olimpo.

Es la primera obra que habla de la inmortalidad y mortalidad. En un interludio del libro o poema habla sobre el diluvio, historia demasiado parecida a la de la bibliba con Noé.

La historia fue escrita en epopeya sobre unas tablillas de arcilla y escritura cuneiforme. Contiene doce tablillas.
