I think that the end of the Santa in the Slush when Booth shows up outside the jail trailer with the Christmas tree was the moment where Max realized that this FBI idiot agent who locked him up and potentially sentenced him to death was in fact the man that was meant to marry his daughter. The man who would take care of her no matter what. He recognized Booth and Brennan’s love and loyalty to one another long before that. But it was in that moment when he looked out the window and saw the Christmas tree that he knew beyond any doubt that Booth was the one for her. The one he could trust to take care of her and love her like no else. It was in that moment that he knew.
