oooo okok so these are headcanons for post-7k varigo:
• When their scientific experiment is a success, they instantly run to the other for a hug and one of them would twirl the other while laughing absolutely ecstatic (the acting like they just proposed and the other said yes kind of hug twirl)
• Varian doesn't miss the chance to compliment Hugo when he notices that his boyfriend was in the mood to make an extra effort to dress up nicely and pretty for the day (he always dresses up nicely, its Hugo, but Varian notices when he's even prettier in some days)
• Hugo "physical contact is off limits" Rottewange being exclusively very playfully touchy around Varian (like tucking his hair for him, fixing his crooked goggles for him, cleaning off when there's something on Varian's face, etc) because he's the most comfortable doing that around him knowing Varian revels in it too (these mfs are touch starved)
• Varian tags along to Hugo who finally has the luxury to try out all sorts of things and find new hobbies he might like and enjoy
• They enjoy helping Quirin out on farm chores together back at Old Corona, especially invent problem solving solutions to make plantation and restocking so much easier for the people of Old Corona
• Hugo secretly likes being the small spoon when he and Varian cuddle in bed, the warm and fuzzy feeling of that embrace makes him sleep so much easier and faster
• Hugo discovered he can pursue sewing for a hobby (fashionista hugo agenda my beloved)—so Varian's wardrobe eventually is 90% filled with ones that his boyfriend handmade for him ever since he got pretty good at it
• Varian's the actual flirty one while Hugo's the actual flustered one the moment he stopped masking it drives him crazy but he eats it up
• They ever so subtly play their own medieval version of xoxo on a paper next to each other when bored af during uneventful royal meetings
• Varian secretly learning ingvarrian to surprise and impress his boyfriend and Hugo being absolutely smitten head over heels for him because of it as soon as he finds out
