Titans and Gods
More stuff in the mail! I won an auction for the GU-01 Hyper Beam Gun and I purchased two GU-02 pulse cannons! All three of which will be mounted on my Gil Vader, after painting of course. I also received a resin kit to convert an hmm berserk fury into an hmm sturm tyrann! Quite excited to start painting all these new parts. Let me know what you think!
Old Zoids photos #30: Mini Zoids! Mainly, gashapon Zoids, in particular a lot of Gilvader pictures...and one unfortunate Leoblaze. I'm not sure if all the mini Gilvys have that dark cockpit "glass"/painted glowing eye look, but mine looks perpetually very grumpy. Gator, meanwhile, is extremely adorable.
Photoset of Genesis Gil Dragon: Golden Garuda edition.
I remember when this colour variant/re issue of Gilvader came out around 2005-2006 and how badly I wanted it, but due to cost and size I couldn't get it. Thankfully That's changed and I was gifted this kit on my birthday!
Blue and gold are my favourite colours but when I took a look at the sprues I noticed that there was a lot of blank space so I planned ahead and decided to do some henna-que/paisley patterning on some of the larger pieces. End result is breathtaking; the gold paint and marker combo makes it sparkle in the light and the sheen is so intense it does sometimes go white depending on light + angle. Also took the time to repaint the 'gold' plastic with gold leaf so it's a lot richer and detailed the guns. Did a silver wash on the navy pieces too. Went with traditional masers versus the back spikes on the helm because faiarr0w has a 25th Anniversary Gilvader and matching Zoid buddies.
The kit itself is pretty easy; easier than a Deathsaurer or any HMM. Just. Big. 2ft wingspan and roughly 2 1/2 feet long. the LEDs still function as well. Some pieces don't sit flush but I think that's mostly a design issue given the large hunks of plastic.
Work in progress of my Gil Dragon with gold Paisley and Henna-like markings. I don't have a special name for the 'custom' but Garuda is kind of appropriate given the role this Zoid does play in Genesis.
Gilvy in my stlye. Still not sure how I'm going to do the saw blades, but I'll probably make them part of the backpack thing. After Transformers Prime's Predaking, I really want a more organic Gilvy that moves like he does =v=;
