Anyone have any good links to some GIMP tutorials?

Either video or text tutorials, it doesn't matter. I can't afford Photoshop so the next best thing is GIMP. I've had it for years but it's updated several times since the last time I used it and I have no idea what I'm looking at. I don't even know where to start Googling. I just want to make some of my screenshots prettier sometimes. Help a Simmer out pls? 🥺

Can someone help me with gimp? I wanna make stickers but this program is driving me up a wall, I've literally gotten to the point where a ps subscription seems like a good idea.

Need actual help

So when I paste anything into GIMP that has a transparent background, instead of the background being transparent (alpha channeled, grey checkered), my background is black. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm up to date on both versions of GIMP and Windows 10 and this just started recently.

any GIMP users who've updated to 3.0.6 that was released on the 5th? its not opening for me and idk why. ig its like it crashes before it even opens. i see the loading screen loading all the files etc but, it never actually opens gimp. help ...

and, can i uninstall 3.0.6 to re-install 3.0.4, without losing settings and presets etc? idk if it wipes ALL the files if i do that.

edit: i cant find any info anywhere so. i uninstalled .6 and reinstalled .4. sad cus i was excited about all the new stuff in .6 but oh well!

PS Actions Suggestions?

So, I am not comfortable with PS at all, but Gimp is killing me with its inability to run anything from memory! Yes,I can save contrast and save hue, but  I still have to go into each of those for each pictures. So if I edit a picture 4 ways and I use 4 pictures, plus export and save its over 20 clicks. It doesnt seem like much but for each click, gimp almost reloads its program so it is slow. Its an amazing program especially since its free but for multiple images, its not user friendly.

I have an older version of PS and I have been downloading free actions but they are all so dark. Its awful.  I don't know enough to make my own. Can anyone suggest any that brighten and sharpen images? I really want colors to pop and I don't want anything blurred. Id also be happy for some instruction on how to make my own or id be willing to donate something if someone could make one that would work for me.

OR...if someone is familiar with GIMP and knows how to make my choices run like actions, id be thrilled. Any help would be amazing.

GIMP?

i’ve been trying for over a year to learn how to make edits and graphics (like the kind where you cut characters out/remove the background),usng the program and while i have a general idea of how to do some thngs, i want to learn more efficiently. 

i’ve looked at all kinds of tutorials on here and you tube, and none really work for me personally because i’m unfamiliar with a lot of terms and just art stuff in general, since i’m more of a writer. 

i know most people prefer using photoshop, but at the moment i can’t afford a subscription, nor can my computer hold it because it’s a chromebook with minimal disk space. 

any tips/advice/resources etc you can offer or point me in the direction ofwould be greatly appreciated.

GIMP 2.10 help

I just started using the newest GIMP and I think I have a glitch. after I’ve been working for a while, it suddenly and unexpectedly quits, and I lose all my work. I don’t save very often, and I don’t now if I can autosave, so can someone help me?

Does anyone know of some good gimp scripts/curves to use for sims ¾? I use holycolorsbatman already but I wondered if there were others that simmers use.
