Gintoki/Takasugi reacting to their S/O introducing them as a friend
A/N: low effort post of the day woo
Gintoki:
You thought it'd be fun to pull a prank on him, wondering whether he'd get jealous or mad, even.
The perfect opportunity came up when you stumbled upon an old classmate in the middle of the street.
“Friend? Friend?!? Wait a minute, why am I your friend? Oi, Y/N, do you not hear me?”
Even after your acquaintance left, Gin didn't stop pestering you, bringing it up every three minutes seconds on the way back.
When you got home, he kept pouting and nagging, sighing dramatically out loud. “Can you hand me the remote?” “Sure thing, FRIEND.”
Brings up the incident days after, unless you make some sort of public declaration regarding your relationship status and promise to stop introducing him as your friend.
Until that happens, Gin refuses to touch or kiss you, acting as If you really are just friends.
Says that if that's all you are, then you wouldn't mind him becoming friends with Ketsuno Ana he wishes.
When you are about to enter Yorozuya so that you can go to bed together, he closes the door on you, saying that friends don’t sleep with one another.
Even if some time passes and you go back to being intimate, he might ask whether friends really do such things or whether you do such things with all your friends.
Makes you memorize an entire repertoire consisting of ways to introduce him to others. wouldn't mind you addressing him as sir or master
Overall, the most petty out of the four.
Takasugi:
You did not just call him your friend. Him, Takasugi Shinsuke, your friend.
It was probably a bad idea, but even so you were curious to see what would happen. Would he get jealous? Would he even care?
His glare was enough to both set the world ablaze and freeze the seas, I promise you that much.
You can hear boss music coming from your side and all of a sudden you see three hearts pop up in the top corner of your screen.
After he is done glaring, Takasugi will go along with the name you assigned him, quietly escorting you and your friend to dinner.
He actually behaved himself, acting kindly and even offering to pay for the whole thing. It looked as if he wasn't bothered in the slightest by your comment.
How disappointing.
But when your actual friend asked whether you could handle eating your portion and you said it was too big to handle?
“That’s not what you said last night.”
He said that in the calmest and nonchalant tone, sipping his drink as if it was nothing.
It was your turn to go silent, glaring at his smirking expression, while doing your best to change the topic.
Supposing you got your lesson, he won't make a big fuss out of it. He is petty, but not that petty.
However, if you still tried anything similar on him, then he'd make it so that you'd never be able to call him your friend again, leaving a visible trail of marks upon you that speaks of your relationship on its own.
Takasugi doesn’t like to be called your friend, but make no mistake to call him your boyfriend either. Who knows how he'll react?
istg not even he knows what he wants to be called. tsundere.
How would Dazai, Ranpo, Gin and Kunikida react, if their s/o comes home, takes them to the bed, presses them into the sheets and just drops to sleep on them after an exhausting day.
Dazai:
Dazai would get super excited at first, thinking that he was gonna get some fun time.
He’s a little confused about why you’re not doing anything after you collapse on him, thinking that that’s your unique way of teasing him.
After you don’t move, he thinks that you fainted and gets super worried, trying to wake you.
He’ll eventually realize that you’ve been overworking yourself and tuck you in, getting in bed next to you and cuddling.
However, the next morning, he’ll pay you back for getting him all excited and then falling asleep on him.
Ranpo:
First, he’d be complaining because you took him away from his candy and television watching.
But then once he realizes what you’re up to, he gets a little more enthusiastic about making his way to the bedroom.
However, he gets a bit irritated once you fall asleep on him. “Why didn’t you just go to bed if you were tired?”
He grumps for a few minutes, but eventually sighs and tucks you into bed since he had already predicted that you’d be super tired once you got home.
He takes a moment to decide whether he wants to go back to nomming on his sweets or getting into bed with you and eventually decides to get into bed with you.
Gin:
When you take her to bed, she is hella blushing. Like full-on stuttering about what you’re planning to do.
By the time you collapse on her, she’s already covering her face to hide how flustered she is. She peeks out from in between her fingers once she sees notices you passing out.
It takes a while to take action in case you were planning something to catch her off guard. She pokes at you to see if you’re okay.
Once she realizes that you were just super tired, she lays back down and pats your head with you still on her so that she could calm down.
Eventually, she’ll pull the blanket over both of you and sleep with you.
Kunikida:
He’s super oblivious when you’re dragging him to bed. However, once he’s in bed, he suddenly realizes and starts blushing like crazy.
“...Are you expecting me to make the first move...?” <-- Kunikida’s reaction to you doing nothing because you passed out.
He gets super worried once he realizes that you’re not responding and he starts shaking you until you wake up.
After he realizes that you’re okay, he has to take a breather before beginning to lecture you. “If you were so tired, why did you drag me all the way to bed instead of just going to bed? You could’ve left early if you were really that tired and blah blah blah....”
He continues lecturing you as he tucks you into bed and then writes in his notebook about ways to keep you healthy and stress-free. It takes some convincing for him to get into bed with you.
HEYYY mayhaps you could write something for your first kiss with Takasugi and Gintoki 😳
A/N: Somehow I wasn't sure if you meant first EVER kiss, or just first kiss with them in particular and I went for the second one :p hopefully that's good enough, but if it isn't, feel free to hit me up again!
First time kissing Takasugi and Gintoki
Takasugi
After months of stolen glances and hidden smiles between the two of you, there was no telling whether you were a thing or not. At times, he'd glare at you from afar without speaking a single word, and at others, he'd aimlessly drop by your room to fill you in on missions you weren't even assigned to.
He was so smitten, yet getting him to admit to it was a task as difficult as toppling the government.
Luckily, you've caught on to him. You know what these looks mean and you can spot the worry in his eyes whenever you turn back late or injured. Takasugi, who treated everyone the same, as if they were disposable tools for him to use. Takasugi, who was the single most feared man in all of Edo, that Takasugi cared for you.
Seeing how things were going at an excruciatingly slow pace, you were tempted to make the first move on him. You both seemed to like each other enough to orbit in one another's presence, so where's the harm in a proper relationship?
But then again, love and war both have their risks, and your lives were plagued with plenty of risks already, having waged a war against the entire universe.
What if he turned you down? What if he lost all respect for you?
And so, you grew hesitant, making do with your little game of cat and mouse.
At the dawn of yet another mission, Takasugi showed up in your chambers. With his hands clasped behind his back and his steps pacing all over the room, he seemed more disturbed than usual.
The details of your assignment were straightforward for just about anyone to follow, the peril involved being the absolute minimum; go to Yoshiwara, meet with your informant, trade the intel for payment, and get back. It sounded easy enough, so why did he feel the need to go over every single detail of the plan?
"Bansai gave you the envelop?"
"Got it right here!"
"Did you check the sum?"
"Should be enough to appease an Oiran, yes."
"What about weapons?"
"Shinsuke, what's going on?"
Letting out a rather prolonged sigh, Takasugi walked closer to you. His features bore a troubled expression, with his lips parted as if there was something for him to say. You waited patiently for an answer, yet no word came out of his mouth. He simply stood there for a minute until he dismissed you with a shake of his head.
Disappointed, you were about to turn the other way when you felt his fingers wrap around your wrist, pulling your entire body towards him. Without any warning, Takasugi pressed his lips against yours, bringing his other hand to cup your cheek.
You couldn't help but gasp, his gesture having caught you completely off guard, yet you reciprocated the kiss, tilting your head to the side of his hand in order to fully savor the warmth of his caress. Failing to hide his own eagerness, he used a bit too much force, though you couldn't complain. Not when his lips were this soft, much softer than you'd anticipated them to be, cushioning yours in a velvet kiss.
By the time you pulled away for air, you were both smiling at one another, confessing what you'd kept from each other for so long. In the end, waiting for him to make his move was all worth it.
"Come back alive, and there will be more," he whispered, turning away from you before you had the chance to see the red hue that stained his cheeks.
"You may go now."
"Shinsuke, you are aware this is my room, right?"
A moment of silence followed, with him clenching his knuckles into a pair of fists.
"...And this is my ship." He stubbornly said, refusing to budge an inch.
Unable to keep it to yourself, you let out a chuckle as you marched towards the door.
"I can't wait for more."
Gintoki
Your first kiss with Gintoki was certainly one to remember. The Yorozuya trio had taken on a gig on behalf of Hasegawa, the latter one seeing no real success when it came to running a kissing booth. With Kagura being far too young and Shinpachi fawning over Otsu's new album, Gin was the poster boy for today's operation, though his attention had entirely shifted to the Jump between his hands.
"Gin-chan, if you don't advertise yourself, we won't get any customers and Madao will die." Kagura scolded him.
"Quit yapping, I just want to read in peace. Besides, he doesn't need a reason to die. Most likely, he's sleeping with the fish while we're talking." He said, flipping onto the next page.
Having had enough of him, Kagura yanked the Jump from his grasp, tossing it as far away as possible.
"Madao won't pay our share if you don't do your job!" She protested, forcing him onto his feet. "Allow me."
"Who wants to kiss this no-good Samurai? We'll pay you if needed, don't let him look any more pathetic-"
"Kagura!" Gintoki gritted his teeth, smiling coyly at the laughing passersby.
He couldn't believe that he'd actually have to kiss one of these women, whose age surpassed even that of Otose's by far. At this point, it'd be better if he got to join Hasegawa in tying a rock around his neck. At least that's what he thought until you showed up.
With your lips curled into a genuine smile and your steps bringing you closer to the booth, he felt as if finally something good had come out of this whole kissing booth ordeal.
"Gin-chan, this pretty lady is looking at us." Kagura nudged him. "Sis, please kiss our Gin-chan. He only has a day to live, this is his last chance to get a kiss from a woman."
"Kagura!!" He cried out in an attempt to shut her up.
You couldn't help but laugh at their little gag, finding the relationship between the two quite endearing.
"But he looks so healthy!" You said, in between chuckling.
"I am healthy!" He slammed his fist on top of the counter when he realized that Kagura had actually given him a once in a lifetime opportunity.
He couldn't even remember the last time he heard a chuckle as melodic as yours, nor a smile as beaming. Even if this was his first time meeting you, he felt oddly at ease, and for the first time since the day began, he wanted that kiss.
"I mean... perhaps this is my last chance at happiness. My balls—I mean, my soul will burst tomorrow. " He said with a pitiful expression.
"Well, if that's the case, one kiss, please!" You grinned, taking a step closer.
Tilting his head to the side, Gintoki leaned forward as he captured your lips with his, erasing the very smile that had bewitched him with a kiss. Although he wasn't meant to give you more than a peck, he found himself pulling you closer to him, loosely bringing both hands around your hips. You rested your hands against his chest, allowing his tongue to sneak into your mouth, the sweet taste of strawberries making your tongue tingle. It was nice, you thought. For a no-good samurai with a day to live, he certainly was nice.
"So where is my money?" You breathed on his lips before taking a step back.
"This girl is paying." Gintoki smirked, pointing his thumb backwards when he realized that, other than the two of you, Shinpachi and her had disappeared. "Kagura!!!"
While he was busy searching for her with his eyes, you slapped two bills onto the counter, enough to afford two of his kisses.
"One more?"
Gintoki took a look at the money, sliding one of the bills back towards you.
"This one's on the house."
Luckily, he never charged any of the kisses that followed, not on that day, nor on any other day to come.
hi!! could u do married life with gintoki plz?? hcs or scenario whichever u prefer i just want to think about what its like to be miss sakata >////< thx!
I was going to make it into pure married life, but I really wanted to include how the whole proposal and wedding happened. So yay for freebies ^^
Being Gintoki's Wife Headcanons
Warning: slight nsfw towards the end.
Congratulations, you married the protagonist of the anime. That's the equivalent of hitting the jackpot, except you wouldn't be so broke after guessing the winning numbers to the lottery. Hey, no one said that being Yorozuya Gin's wife wouldn't have its disadvantages!
Proposal
The way he proposed to you was... quite interesting. He was a nervous mess and tried to calm down by going down the booze route, which led to him being both inebriated and awkward. You'd been dating for quite a while and he was certain that he could finally tie the knot with you (Thank Kagura, Shinpachi and Otose for pushing him to it). With you he felt comfortable to be who he is, knowing that you loved him despite his flaws. He was always at home whenever you were around, though actually proposing was nerve wracking.
If he was left alone to do it, perhaps he'd just toss you a ring and leave it at that. But, because communism exists, his marital business is Yorozuya's marital business and they'd sit him down and explain that unless he tries to at least be a bit romantic, you'd be disappointed. In reality, Kagura said that you'd leave with another man if you did that, a fact that managed to get him all stressed up in the first place.
And so, Gin really did his best planning a memorable proposal. He took you out to a fancy restaurant, wore his *rented* tuxedo, bought a ring worth of 10 rents which he placed into the champagne glass (courtesy of Otae). It was the perfect night! Or... so it was, until he started chugging glass after glass, eventually forgetting that a ring was placed in one of them and... yes. He swallowed the ring.
I wouldn't be surprised if he hadn't noticed and went along with his proposal, voicing the little speech he had prepared with the guys the previous night, though be it half slurring and messing up halfway. It was a wonder you said yes, but it was a bigger wonder that he had managed to swallow a wedding ring without even being aware of it. Of course, that was something he kept hidden from you, and will probably keep it hidden even until after your children have children of their own. It's embarrassing, don't blame him!
At the end, he admitted leaving it at home, a far less shameful option. You parted ways and no one really asked why he spent the next 6-8 hours in the bathroom. The next day, you had a gorgeous shining ring around your finger, and an exhausted Gintoki by your side.
The wedding
Most likely Gintoki wished for a simple ceremony with those closest to you. Mainly because it would cost less but also because he isn’t one for extravagant parties. A wedding is a union and while he never hid your relationship, he’d be a bit flustered about saying such important words in public.
He did tell Kagura and Shinpachi, as those closest to him. And of course, Shinpachi told Otae, who told Kyuubei and then the entire Yagyuu clan had to pay their respects. Perhaps Gin also let Katsura know, not actually expecting him to show up, though he did and so did the Shinshengumi. At the end of the day, the entire cast was standing before you, some arguing and throwing bombs at one another, while others were too busy stuffing food in bento boxes. The quiet wedding you dreamt off turned into a bit of a fiasco, but everyone enjoyed themselves and so did you and Gin.
Honeymoon Period
I doubt that Gin could afford a proper honeymoon vacation, but perhaps Otose chimed in a bit, giving him enough money to take you somewhere decent as a wedding gift. Don’t think Hawaii or Paris or anything, but he did take you to an idyllic little fishing village or to a lovely mountain settlement.
The time you spent there was quiet and peaceful, unlike your everyday life in the city. It was a welcoming change and for once, you found yourself wishing that it would last more than a few days. Before you knew it, vacation time was over and you were back at Kabukicho.
Married Life
During the first few months, Gintoki would probably put on his good face. He'd be sweeter than usually to you, even going as far as to plan "romantic pizza nights in front of the tv" with candles all around. That would be his basic idea for a date night, but don't worry, he'll keep it up in the future too, minus the candles.
Another type of date time would probably be board game nights, either with just the two of you or his friends. If you end up winning too much, I wouldn't be surprised if Gin decided to flip the table or go as far as to cheat. If you catch onto him and scold him about his behavior, then he'd try to use other means to "win" ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) He is shameless, after all.
Surprisingly enough, Gin isn't bad at doing chores, though he does complain about it. Considering the nature of his job, it's not too uncommon for him to have days off, and so, if you are the one with a more stable 9 to 5 kinda job, he doesn't mind taking over the housework. Mostly to keep cockroaches at bay ;-;
If he is the only one to do chores, he'll start nagging about how you married him just to turn him into a housewife. Bribing him with something tasty, whether that is food or you, is bound to make him forget about it, for the time at least.
Speaking of food, a fun activity Gin would enjoy, is cooking with you. He mostly enjoys eating whatever it is that you make for him (supposing it's not burnt tamagoyaki or rice with egg on a daily basis), but if you suggest making something together, he'll find it just as fun and exciting. He doesn't always follow the recipes and a lot of the time he ends up slacking off, tossing ingredients such as flour on your bare face just to get a laugh out of it. In no time, such a notion would lead to an all out kitchen war. Just make sure that he cleans the mess afterwards, considering it's his fault.
Despite Gin picking up on chores, he can be very messy, turning your house into a dorm. Half finished ramen, jump magazines scattered around, tissues and cans, he leaves disaster in his trail. He will clean when he realizes you need a boat to pass through each room, or, if you order him to.
Perhaps at one point, you both tried to better yourself and engage into some more sophisticated hobbies, such as wine tasting or museum touring. Every couple gets to a point when they look at other couples and wonder if they are doing things wrong. But neither expensive wines or impressionism did it for you, and so you went back to your old habits in no time. It's better when you don't have to pretend around each other.
After a quick detour, back to Gin's messiness we go. He is the type to spend an awful long time in the bathroom, not because he is doing anything weird, but because he takes his jump with him. He can sit on the toilet for hours on end, not even realizing how long it's been.
Whenever he showers or baths, you will definitely know because of the endless stream of water and hot steam following after him. It looks as if someone copy-pasted Venice in your house and Gin isn't apologetic in the slightest over it. The main cause of it, is because he refuses to dry himself up, choosing to wander around the rooms with just a towel. Now if you scold him, he has no issue jumping on top of you with the sole intention of drying his body against your clothes.
Naturally, it doesn't take long for things to get heated, and I can definitely imagine him smirking while saying "Now I'm not the only one who's wet". Shameless, I told you. Besides, he is also the one who jumps into the shower with you if he is in a hurry, without even bothering to ask if it's fine.
Gin isn't against self care. He doesn't admit it, but in order to keep his hair tamable, he uses A LOT of products. Could have an entire shelve dedicated to hair products only, no surprises here. He might tease you if he sees you using a face mask sheet, though if you offer him one, he'll allow you to pamper him, asking you to check how soft his skin is 24/7.
A nice thing Gin does from time to time, is massages. If you come back tired from work, he'll have no issue rubbing your feet, your shoulders, and anywhere else you need him to *wink wink*. Again he'll bring up the "housewife" argument, but he is more than happy to take care of you.
On the contrary, a nasty thing Gin most definitely does, is start calling you old hag. Even changes your contact name to that and acts as if you are some old lady, despite being of similar age to him. Don't, just... don't ask.
Generally, you don't argue a lot and your fights consist of really petty and childish arguments, such as who gets to watch what on the tv. Usually it ends with him sitting on the remote to prevent you from touching it. Or, on cold winter nights, he ends up hoarding the blanket, leaving you to shiver alone while playing tug war with his sleepy self.
At times, Gin experiences severe nightmares about his past. It's something he can't let go off completely, and although he chooses to ignore it in his daily life, he can't control his subconscious. There isn't much for you to do, as he won't be willing to talk about it. However, wrapping your arms around him, assuring him that it's fine, that you are there and that he did his best, will definitely help.
His sex drive does die a bit after you get married, but it's not much of an issue. If you initiate things, he'll almost always be up for it, and he definitely has his "hornball" moments. If you are doing the dishes, he'll be doing you. If you are in it for a relaxing bath time, he'll have you sit between his legs. If he sees you all dressed up for a work event or an outing with a friend, he'll most likely undress you first.
Randomly slaps your butt from time to time whenever you pass before him. If you scold him, he chuckles while giving you the look to know that if you are up for it, he is also up for it. Lots of heated times on the couch, considering he is sometimes too lazy to move things to the bedroom.
Finally, kids is not something in his immediate plans. In fact, he'll try to postpone such talks until you enter the second year of marriage, if not more. He'll always go "La la la la la" at the mention of such things, but if you sit him down and ask him to have a family, he'll groan and take you to bed right away. After all, how can he say no to you?
Hiya! I was reading your Takasugi w/ pregnant s/o (I LOVED it) and was thinking if you could write something similar for Gintoki?
A/N: Hi, hi! Aw, I'm glad you did and I'm sooooo sorry it took ages to get to this request!
Dadtoki Gintoki as a Father
this is 100% his reaction at the pregnancy. no doubt.
I dare anyone claim that Gintoki wouldn't make a great dad. Not only have we seen Dadtoki raise Kagura and Shinpachi, but his relationship with most people reflect his role as a caregiver and protector of some sorts. He is the kind of guy who is there for everyone and although acts as if it's not that big of a deal, so many people depend on him for a reason.
Despite all that, Gin seems to be oblivious to the fact that he'd make up for an amazing father and a pregnancy would initially fill him with anxiety.
WARNING: Mostly fluff with some spice here and there ^^
When his S/O announces her pregnancy to him:
Utter shock. He just drops whatever it is that he is doing and stares at her like she just claimed that she is a flat earther. Gin is not the world's most cautious person but he'd never thought that one day he'd get to screw up this majorly.
Once the information would begin to register, he'd try to calculate the days, making sure that they add up. He'd ask you if you were certain, if you had seen a doctor, if you had gotten the test, if you had asked a shaman for extra confirmation. Basically he'd do whatever he could in order to find a way out of this.
Considering you had done all of the aforementioned things, then he might even ask you if there was a chance you could abort it. It's not as if he hates children or as if he detests the idea that much. More like, he doesn't feel confident in his fathering skills and would always state that he is not ready or that it's too soon, even if the two of you were dating for quite a while.
On the other hand, he doesn't have a stable income and can barely afford feeding himself and Kagura, taking care of a baby would break him financially. So, because of his insecurities and financial situation, I don't see him as someone who'd be overjoyed. He might even go full asshole mode on you without realizing it.
Potentially, he'd need some time to himself after hearing the news. He is too stunned to think properly and the longer he stays around you, the more stupid shit he will spew. He just needs to be on his own for a while, perhaps in the company of a drink. Or two. Or a bottle. Or an entire bar, even.
Gintoki would drink in order to cope with the situation, perhaps to even try ignoring it, but that wouldn't work. His thoughts would cloud his brain, demanding for answers to questions such as; Am I someone who can provide for family? Do I deserve one in the first place? Is it okay to have others truly depend on me and for me to depend on them? He is really worried about being an awful father because he never really had a father in his life either. The closest father figure to him was Shouyou sensei and we all know how that ended up. I feel like because of what he did back then to him, he'd reflect his guilt at his unborn child.
But, despite all of these thoughts that keep holding him back, Gintoki never runs away from his own responsibilities. No matter how tough a situation is, he deals with it, and so, when he comes back to you completely wasted, he'll let you know that he is on board. You chose him to be the father of your child and that means something to him. Even if he's still not sold on the idea of fatherhood, he has a debt to both you and your child and he won't run away from it anymore.
I gotta say though, don't expect to make too much sense of drunk Gin's slurs. Other than the words baby and father, you won't be able to understand where he is getting at, but when he falls asleep with his head resting on your belly, you will know.
Oh and, don't expect him to really get into detail about his previous reaction. Gin is NOT someone who shares his trauma with others. If you ask him, best case scenario he'll claim that children are dirty and a bother and the last thing he needs is a toddler running Yorozuya down. Or that he could never possibly take care of a child because he doesn't want to compete for your love. Yes, he can be that petty if it means throwing you off.
During the pregnancy:
So, once it's been settled that the two of you are having a baby, I'd imagine Gin and the rest of the Yorozuya undergoing certain changes, especially regarding their appearance. Gin will try to look more formal and might even cosplay a father type character like Umibozu, because as long as he looks the part, he can succeed as a father. Of course the changes will be ridiculous and he will start acting like a different person for a while. Might start scolding you on random behavior and act full on like a guardian/husband/father to you, even if the two of you aren't even married. If he catches you drinking alcohol or eating sweets, he'll confiscate them (and consume them while you are not around) and will try to enforce certain "healthier" habits on you with Kagura's aid. Spoiler alert, such habits won't be any healthy or successful, it's just the two of them going dumbass mode.
If you let him know that he doesn't need to do all that weird crap in order to become father material, he will start easing back to his previous self with time, completely dropping the strict father look. He'll go back to being the childish and immature Gin you know and love, sitting in his office all day long, complaining, eating parfaits and reading jump. It's all or nothing with him, really.
To be honest, I don't see Gin as someone who'd shift his habits or personality because of your pregnancy. Other than his short lived phase of cosplaying a good dad, he won't really do anything different than he usually does. If you ask him for something, he'll send Kagura or Shinpachi to go fetch it as he'd be too lazy to do that, so you'd better keep your whims to their bare minimum. Buuuut, if he really has to be the one to go outside, he'll drag himself to the nearest convenience store, coming back with the one thing you asked for and then ten other useless things of his own, claiming that those things are his compensation for obliging you. This guy, somehow.
Also, I'd like to note that Gintoki would not actively show his enthusiasm for your pregnancy. He won't be one of those stupid dads who constantly touch their partner's belly and talk to the baby. He has acknowledged its existence and might ask you about the health of you two, but that's about it. No special treatment. However, expect him to tag along to your official visits to the gynecologist and even asking for a copy of the ultrasounds. He won't make it into a big deal, but he'll be there and will keep stuff to commemorate it! In his own way, he'll show you that he cares and isn't completely indifferent.
Something I wanna add is that while you are pregnant, expect a lot of people to drop by Yorozuya with gifts and wishes for you and the baby. From Shinpachi and Otae, to the Shinsengumi and the rest of the Joui 4 (with the exception of Takasugi perhaps, although I can see him sending a card or something behind Gin's back), all of Gin's friends and acquaintances will be involved in your pregnancy, as well as the upbringing of the child but I'll get into it later. Point is, Yorozuya is a big family and the second you bear the silver haired samurai's spawn, you and the baby will both instantly become part of that family, which I honestly think is a great thing!
When it comes to living arrangements, whether you start living with him at Yorozuya or not, I don't see that being too much of a problem. He won't mind either, but perhaps it'd be best if you let him keep Yorozuya his own thing, even if you spend your entire day there. Gin is someone who doesn't really like clingy women and would rather have his own space. If you ask him to move in with you, he just might do that but there's no denying that a tiny part in him would be miserable.
I feel like the less changes your pregnancy brings to his life, the easier it will be for him to handle it, so keeping the pressure to its bare minimum works best for Gin. But, if you choose to stay away from him, I can see him paying more visits to you and even spending the nights over. He knows you can protect yourself, yet he feels more at ease when he can do that himself. After all, Gin shows his love and affection in the form of protecting others.
A final aspect that I'd like to discuss before moving to the 'during birth' part, is the kind of impact your pregnancy has when it comes to your sex life. In all honestly? Not much. He'd definitely tone it down when it comes to the kinkier stuff and he'd try to be a bit gentler, but other than that, it'd pretty much be the same as before. Also, I hate myself for saying it but... perhaps pregnancy might awaken another kink of his which is uhm... daddy kink. If you call him daddy, at first he will be taken aback but he surprisingly liked the sound of it! In an odd way, it turns him on that you view him as someone good enough to be a father, it's like a form of validation that he'd never dare ask. So, keep doing that but be careful with overdoing it, if he gets too excited, things might get a bit rough for you.
During birth:
He'll be around but also not around. It's not that he doesn't want to be with you in that room, but last minute panic will get to him first. Gin will accompany you to the hospital along with Kagura, Shinpachi and Katsura most likely, but will insist on staying outside. Births can be a bit too intense for him and I don't think it's the kind of sight he wishes to see. However, if you tell him that you need him with you, he'll succumb and join. Just don't blame him if he gets a bit fainthearted!
Once the baby is born, he'll definitely pick it up, perhaps even before you get the chance to do so. Immediately, he'll start comparing it to himself, noticing every way the two of them are similar and every way they differ. Even if he previously wasn't too warm regarding the whole baby idea, holding the baby in his arms will help him come to terms with it. There is no doubt anymore, this is your baby, the new most precious thing to him.
But knowing Gin, he'll probably make an unnecessary comment such as 'huh, I never knew babies could turn out this fat' or 'hmph, he took after you' or uh 'WHY IS HIS/HER HAIR SILVER YET COMPLETELY STRAIGHT'. You know, basically anything to break the ice of this emotional moment. Gin is Gin, good luck raising two children !
Despite his childish tendencies, Gin does feel happy about your newly created family! It's a new chapter in his life and he'll do anything in his power to support and protect the both of you, living the family life he never got to live for himself. (Funnily enough, I mentioned a similar thing in my Takasugi version of father headcanons, but I see the two of them being quite similar in this aspect.)
Raising the child:
Lemme start by saying that it will be a wonder if his child doesn't turn into a mini version of him.
In the first few years of his child's life, Gintoki will participate a lot, although doing so while nagging. He will feed the baby (you must keep unsuitable food away), he will wake up in the middle of the night if the baby cries (begging it to shut up while having a crying contest with it), he will even change its diaper (in the most ridiculously wrong way ever). His parenting won't be perfect but he will try his best, in his own way!
Also, because of how childish Gin is, I see him being able to play with the baby just fine... although... don't be too surprised if the kind of games they play together are a bit unsuitable for the baby's age. You had a kid with Gintoki, what did you expect?
Assuming the child has aged a bit and it's time for a name to be assigned to them properly and what not, I feel like there will be a huge debate about who the baby's godparents will be. Even if neither you nor Gin ask anyone specifically, everyone will make it their business and try to butt in. Namely people like Katsura, Kagura, Otae, Kondo and perhaps Sougo. They all feel entitled for different reasons; Katsura claiming that he should be the one to do it, as he's shared the most with Gintoki, Kagura arguing that as the female lead she has to be the one, Otae counter arguing that Kagura is too young, Kondo wanting to go through with it only because Otae is participating and Sougo because, well... let's just say he doesn't have the purest intentions. I can see Kyuubei and Sacchan joining the fight too, with Hijikata, Hasegawa and Shinpachi choosing to stay out of it.
Most likely the baby will end up with either far too many godparents or no godparents at all. But, in any case, the people of Kabukicho won't be the only ones to take an interest in the baby. I can see Tatsuma sending extravagant -and oftentimes living- gifts for the baby, visiting Gin and his new family whenever he has some time between his trips. On the other hand, while Takasugi won't exactly consider visiting them, he'd be sending cards, mainly asking the child (when it gets a bit older) to join the Kiheitai, offering to 'save it' from Gin's idiocy. Well, he is not being 100% serious, does it mostly to spite Gintoki and all, but wouldn't be against the idea either.
Whenever the two of you are busy, either with your work or because you want to have some privacy and proper date time, Shinpachi will gladly accept to baby sit, with Kagura occasionally joining in. This is one of the many times you feel appreciative for Gin's friends as you can finally manage to spend some time with him. If you aren't exhausted from all the parenting, he'd take you to a place where you can have some fun, possibly away from everyone and everything. Mainly, he wants to make sure said place doesn't have any crying babies in a radius of at least 50 kilometers.
Most of the time, your alone time though, involves the two of you lazing out, too tired to even budge an inch from the house. I feel like Gin is very lazy and with the baby and all this worsens, causing your sex life to take a direct hit. However, with time, he'll bounce back to his old habits, finding opportunity for quickies with you left and right. I don't think he'll want to have more kids anytime soon so he'll be extra careful about contraception this time, which isn't a necessarily bad thing. One mini Gin should be enough for now.
Now when it comes to actually raising the kid, once it turns out a bit older, I feel like Gin will prefer it if his child chooses its own way in life. For fun only, I can see him entertaining the idea of having them take over Yorozuya one day, asking for early pension and what not, but at the end of the day, he'd just want his child to create its own path. He'd support it no matter what and would try to guide it, oftentimes going back to Shouyou's teachings considering he was the father figure in his life. He won't let his own bushido define the kid's life, but he'd appreciate it if they take it into consideration. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter who his child turns out to be, as long as they are a decent human being with a clear soul. That's what matters to Gintoki the most, after all.
On another note, I expect some petty behavior from his side if you end up coddling the child too much. For example, if the kid tells you that they love you and you return the affection, he might say something like 'your mother loves you but she loves me the most', borderline terrorizing the kid, but that only happens if he is in a very bad mood. Most of the time, he will sit in his corner and pout, expecting you to kiss him goodnight just like you did for you child, even going as far as to open his mouth, expecting you to feed him the food directly when it's dinner time. Also, definitely the type to eat baby food out of curiosity, ending up really liking it and stealing it when no one is looking. Some of his behavior will be quite troubling and childish but also endearing in an odd way.
Hmm I'm not sure what else there is to say about Dadtoki. If you ask me, I feel like he'd turn out to be a pretty good father, someone who isn't overbearing, someone who guides his child, making sure to be there if they fall to pick them up, without necessarily holding their hand during the entire duration. He would be affectionate without going overboard and obviously care and raise them with love. Even if he has doubts about the whole thing, with you support and the support of the people around him, he will find the confidence to fit the role of a father perfectly. Plus, even if he doesn't see it, he was already bound to be great, being a father figure for both Kagura and Shinpachi in the first place.
Overall, Dadtoki reigns supreme and no matter how much financial difficulties or his weird shenanigans affect your lives, you will always pull through. That's what family does. Family is something Gin always longed for whether he speaks of it or not, so having one of his own will help him be more open, content and come to terms with his past and his own self. At the end, the two of you won't be raising just your child but also a healthier version of himself, if that makes sense. (never forget that Gin has so much trauma even if he never mentions it)
how do you think Gintoki would deal with having a crush who is always courted by rich men. Crush always turns these people down and if he ever asks crush why, crush does not want too because money won’t make them happy, they just don’t feel any attraction and there’s nothing particularly wrong with the men, and finally… they shyly admit already liking someone else?
A/N: Sure thing! I made this into half headcanons/half scenario but I feel like it worked out for the best. Not super long but your request was specific enough for me to get straight to the point, which I think is good! Anyways, this is it ^^
Gintoki reacting to his crush getting courted by rich men
Warnings: None, SFW!
At first, Gintoki would probably tease them about it. He would wonder what it was about plain old you that had managed to capture the attention of the richest men in Edo so effortlessly, even when he, himself, was enticed by you.
Whenever you received a present, whether that ranged from expensive pralines to the highest quality kimono, he'd always be sneering in his corner, telling you to hurry up and pick a suitor already.
In reality, he wouldn't want you doing such thing, yet he knew that he could never compare to these men, at least wealth wise. He felt very inadequate in that aspect and that was one of the many reasons why he didn't dare confess his feelings for you. Plus, he didn't wanna stand in the way of your bright future, a future he could never afford himself.
Little did he know, that the feeling had been mutual all along. Even when you had everything a woman could ask for, you knew that money couldn't buy happiness. Nothing ever compared to how he made you feel, all the smiles he brought to your face and all the joy he brought to your life. No matter how many men courted you, your heart belonged to him and him only.
One day, you received yet another box of chocolates from a suitor. They were one of those very expensive Amanto chocolates that one could never acquire by themselves. Although you were quite fond of their flavor, the moment you got your hands on the box, you knew what to do, and so, two days later, Gintoki was standing at your door, the box of chocolates in hand as he made his way in your apartment.
"Another one, really? Y/N, you need to do something about it, it's the last time I act as a delivery boy for your admirers. Tell them to stop sending stuff at Yorozuya or at least pay up for my services."
"No, that is for you."
"Huh?" Gintoki made a grimace, his eyes going wide, unable to comprehend the situation in hand. "It has your name on it, what are you talking about?"
"That's because I sent them to you. It's chocolate, you like chocolate, right?" Walking closer to him, you couldn't help but smile. His puzzled expression was so cute. "It's a gift from that conglomerate guy. He got it on one of his trips abroad but I thought you'd appreciate it more."
"It's really rude of you to redirect gifts. I'll never be able to understand how you have everyone wrapped around your finger." The silver haired man exclaimed while munching on a praline. He had opened the box so quickly that you hadn't even caught a glimpse of him doing so. No matter how self righteous he tried to act, desserts were the one thing he could never resist. "Just pick one already, won't you?" He went on before throwing a different piece of chocolate in his mouth. "Damn, this one..." Gintoki closed his eyes as he moaned in delight. Seeing how much he enjoyed it, you chuckled, this was the exact reaction you were expecting from him.
"My vote goes to chocolate guy. In fact, perhaps I should meet him myself, maybe he prefers silver hair." He joked as he licked his fingers, placing the chocolate box on top of a furniture next to him once he was done cleaning himself.
"Maybe you should. I bet you would impress him, especially if you showed him your manboobs and got your hair up in ponytails or something." You couldn't say this sentence without breaking into laughter. The image of Gintoki dressed as a woman was beyond hilarious, yet somehow as endearing as the man himself.
"Tch. You say that because you can't tell what a knockout I'd be. I bet I could get twice the attention you get, if I was a woman." Gin said with a pout, acting all offended.
"I bet you would."
Silence. The moments when you would find yourselves standing there without saying a thing to one another had multiplied, along with the tension between you. It was at times like this when you wished that you were courageous enough to speak up about your own feelings, yet somehow, you couldn't bring yourself to do that. What if he hated the idea, what if he didn't like you more than he liked a friend? The risk was too big to take and so, you had settled for throwing mere hints at him, hoping that one day he'd catch onto you, that one day he'd be able to return your feelings.
"Seriously, Y/N. Why don't you give them a chance? They don't look half bad, if you keep pushing them away you'll end up like Catherine." He was the first one to speak, taking a step closer to you. Folding his arms in front of his chest, he leaned against the wall. "Come on, isn't there anyone you like? No one catches your eye? No one makes you wanna run off into the sunset with them?" Your heart was beating louder and louder with each of his sentences. You could only hope that your infatuation wasn't showing, that you could at least control your expression in front of him, even when part of you wanted him to find out. Still, when he looked at you so intently, his maroon eyes piercing yours as he spoke, you knew you couldn't evade his questions anymore, he deserved an answer.
"There... there is." Your voice came out as a whisper, your stare dropping to the floor, unable to face him.
"Huh? What was that?" Of course he hadn't heard you when you spoke this quietly. Of course you had to repeat your words and of course you had to explain what you meant. Sighing, you lifted your head up. It can't be helped anymore.
"There is someone like that for me. Someone I wanna run into the sunset with, someone who catches my eye, someone I... like."
"Oh? Who is that guy? Is it the chocolate guy? Or that merchant? Or perhaps, it's that news anchor? Who is it?" To your dismay, Gintoki seemed to be quite entertained by the idea of you liking someone. Besides, why wouldn't he, considering how he was your friend and friends are happy to see their friends happy.
"He's nothing like that!" You protested, your reaction catching him by surprise. "I mean... he is not one of those guys..."
"What? So he really isn't rich? What a bummer, all those gifts for nothing." Gin said with a scoff.
"You know, not everything is about money. Money can't buy you happiness and it can't buy you love."
"It can buy you desserts though. What's so good about that guy you like then?" He wasn't going to give up unless you gave him a clear cut answer. Sighing, you moved to the other side of the wall, your back falling against the cold surface while you eyed him.
"For starters? He is very nosy and can be quite rude too. He is childish and petty and lazy even, and, he does all these unnecessary things. He is also very stubborn and won't let things drop."
"Huh, you like such a guy? You have such a poor taste in men, no wonder you are turning everyone-"
"But he is also one of the kindest people I've known. He is very warm and he really cares for others, he never turns his back on anyone. He is also the funniest guy I've met and talking to him feels like everything's gonna be alright." You could feel yourself blushing just by listing some of Gintoki's positive traits. There were so many reasons as to why you'd come to like him, yet he could never know the depth of your emotions, no matter how many times you got to describe them to him. No words could pinpoint what it was about him that you loved so much.
For a second, it looked as if Gintoki seemed to understand. He tilted his head towards you, his eyes studying your features while a slight smile appeared on his lips, a smile that only made your heart flutter. The two of you stared at each other, neither him, nor you saying a word, until Gintoki finally broke the silence, an inaudible chuckle leaving his lips.
"Women should have more practical criteria when choosing a husband." He eventually said, shaking his head dismissively. "That guy sounds like a loser anyways."
"Then I guess I'm in love with a loser." This time, you could see that you weren't the only one affected by your words, a light shade of pink coloring his cheeks as he scratched the back of his head awkwardly.
"You are beyond hopeless. But... I'm the same way." Before you could do as much as inquire any further, he turned his back on you, picking the chocolate box up before moving to the door. "I'm taking these with me. Give my thanks to the chocolate guy, he really has great...taste."
And with that, Gintoki was out of the door, leaving you to stand alone in your own apartment, the only proof of his visit being a sole piece of chocolate that he had left behind, one that had the shape of a heart, at that. Childish as always, you thought to yourself as you threw the chocolate in your mouth, unable to contain your own joy. Money really can't buy happiness.
Heyyyy, I was wondering if you could write something with Gintoki and Takasugi s/o getting extremely sick? Like how would they be, but then s/o manages to get better at the end and all is well
Woo, angst my beloved. Sorry for taking this long to get to this, I had soooo much inspiration about some other things and anagst needs the right mood! Anyways, here we go!
Gintoki/Takasugi with extremely sick S/O
Warning: Uh, it's SFW alright but it's still angst so it might hurt buuut wholesome ending so hooray
Gintoki
At first, he wasn't too phased by your illness. It wasn't the first time you had gotten sick and wouldn't mind lazying around with you. Plus, you would insist it was just a cold, so he wouldn't worry.
But, once your condition significantly worsened, he'd take you to a doctor, or rather bring one to you if you wouldn't be able to move. And when he heard that the possibility of you recovering was slim? Everything would change
For a while, he'd have a hard time accepting it. He'd lost so many people in the past and so the pain of losing someone close to him was rather familiar, however when it came to you, the woman he had chosen, he couldn't help but feel desperate but also angry at himself. If he had noticed before then things wouldn't have gone this way, if he had taken better care of you, then you wouldn't be lying on your deathbed.
However this is Gintoki we are talking about, all the self blame, guilt and anger will remain within him. He wouldn't let you see how sad he was, he'd always put up a strong front and he'd try to help you as best as he could. Even if the odds were against you, he wouldn't give up on you.
Instead of coddling you, he'd act as if everything was fine, in fact, he'd even push you to do things yourself. As long as you kept going, as long as you didn't surrender to the disease, there was hope. He'd get you your favorite stuff but don't expect him to just give them to you. He'd place them slightly out of reach, forcing you to drag yourself to them. If you managed to do that, he'd cheer for you.
"Wow, Y/N, pretending to be this sick just so that I can't bring you everything in bed? Just do it yourself, see, it's not even that hard."
If you couldn't do it however... then he'd silently bring them to you, forcing a sad smile on his lips while watching you. He'd be so heartbroken, he just wanted you to get better and if he can't motivate you enough, then what can he do? Sometimes you have to fight your own battles, he knew that very well, but seeing you in this state always managed to break him.
At one point, I'd imagine your condition will get even worse and he'd knew the end was near. He was bracing himself all along for this and although he couldn't stand it, he would stay by your side all along, no matter what childish tricks he'd try on you. In your "final" moments, he'd be very gentle, holding your hand, brushing your hair softly, you name it. The least he could do was be there with you, not just for you, but for him as well.
Even then, he'd try not to cry, he'd try to crack a joke or two, he'd try to read Jump for you, he'd try to make it as painless for the two of you as possible. But if you were the one to crack first? If you started crying or if your eyes begun to close or if you had one of those violent cough attacks? Then he wouldn't be able to keep his cool.
"Gin... it's fine, I'm fine, I'm-"
"Of course you are fine. You are the finest woman I've met." He'd say with a faint smile that trembled on his lips.
His eyes would be glossy, tears threatening to fall upon his cheeks in streams. You'd do your best to return the smile, extending a hand towards his face, cupping his cheek softly while brushing your fingers against his skin. Finding comfort in your touch, he'd tilt his head, only to realize that the familiar warmth of you wasn't there anymore, that your hand, the hand he so much loved to hold, had gotten as cold as ice. His tears would dampen your palm and then neither of you would be able to keep a straight face anymore.
Although all hope was lost for him that day, the next day you were still there and the day after that and the day following that. Slowly but surely, you started showing signs of recovery, signs that you had beaten this disease, that you had pulled through. Once you'd be able to stand on both feet, Gintoki would go back to his regular self, teasing you, making fun of your weak state and would try to get you to go outside with him. Truth is, no matter how much he'd tried to play it off, he was grateful that you were still there.
Finding himself walking on the streets of Kabukicho once again with you by his side was all he needed. Holding your hand into his, feeling your warmth and your now strong pulse, he realized that this was all he needed, you were al he needed.
Takasugi
Similarly to Gintoki, Shinsuke would have a hard time accepting his S/O disease, although his reaction to it would be completely different. Whereas Gintoki would be by her side, Shinsuke would abort ship. He'd start avoiding her, would never visit her and would act as if their relationship had never even occurred. As harsh as that might sound, he didn't act like this because he was unaffected, no, it was quite the opposite. Perhaps even more so than Gintoki, he'd be truly and utterly devastated.
For Shinsuke to love a woman, is for him to open his heart, a heart that is barely pieced together. Allowing himself to love someone made him feel guilty enough in the first place. After losing Shouyou, he was never able to understand how the other Joui 4 members were able to go on with their lives as if nothing happened. He'd set his eyes on a path of destruction, a path defined by solitude, a path that he'd chosen for himself. Letting you walk by his side, always had him thinking; am I even allowed to do this? Is it okay if I'm greedy and shameless just this once?
As if he wasn't drowning in his own guilt already, finding out about your condition only made things worse for him. He'd blame himself for it, he'd think that this was his punishment, that you slipping away from him was the price he had to pay for even looking your way in the first place. Shinsuke wouldn't be able to face you because of how sorry he felt, even if he never said it out loud, even if his demeanor showed that he didn't care, he simply cared too much, and in his eyes that was a fatal sin. Meeting you, getting you to join him, loving you, making you his, all of these things served as a regret to him, a regret he couldn't afford to have. Being the leader of the Kiheitai meant he had to stay strong for everyone, he had to be the Takasugi Shinsuke they all believed in, whether it was killing him on the inside or not.
And so, Takasugi would stay away from you. It was better that way, it was better if he was the only one who blamed himself, if he was the one to carry the burden. Besides, he knew that if he got to see you all weak and fragile, then he'd break even more.
It wasn't until Bansai informed him of how bad things were that he bat an eye towards your direction. Your time was running out, if he wanted to say his goodbyes, he needed to do it now.
It was night time when he visited you, during the time everyone including you was asleep. You'd wake up to the sight of his back turned on you as he gazed outside the window.
"Y/N, look at the sky. It's another moonless night."
"Shinsuke-"
"Walking on this path, I thought I had forsaken the moon myself. There were no stars in my sky until I found you, the sole light that I let guide me through all carnage and ruination. Yet, now even a small and insignificant star like you is trembling, about to fade into nothingnes."
"Shinsuke, please just-"
"Tell me, Y/N. Tell me, why should I be the one to watch you fade? Why should my final memory of you be this one." He stubbornly refused to look at your face, keeping his back on you the entire time as he spoke.
"Because, you will regret it if you don't."
"Regrets?" He scoffed. "I have no place for such nonsen-"
"Because It'd be cruel of you not to let me see you your face one last time." Your words would finally get to him, forcing him to turn around, his eye full of sorrow as he looked at you.
Dragging his steps closer, he'd sit by your side, ghosting his hand over yours, a faint smile on his lips. Once again, he was forced to watch as the thing that meant the most to him was taken away, unable to do as much as to stop it. No matter how strong he was, he couldn't save you, just like he was unable to save Shouyou back then.
"This world is the one who's cruel. This ugly world that took him away from me, this rotten world that's taking you away now, this world that needs to be torn into shreds"
"Don't say that." Your voice was weak, barely audible, yet still enough to force him to look at your face, his eye drifting away from your hand. "This world was gentle enough to let us meet. Even if my time is running out, I am grateful for this world, I am grateful that I met you."
"You should say your goodbyes to this world then, because I'll be the one to destroy it." His way of copying with things remained ever the same, resorting to violence and destruction rather than allowing himself to wallow in the pain and misery. Still, even when he wasn't trying to comfort you, even when he hadn't said anything that was remotely nice, you knew that this was his way of letting you know how much you meant to him. Smiling, you'd hold onto his hand tightly, a rampant cough escaping your throat.
"I'm sure you will."
In the following days, he didn't visit you again. He'd done his part, he'd said his silent goodbyes to you, it was time to move on. Yet his eye was enough to reveal the pain he was into, dark circles staining his features, fatigue clinging onto him. Only he knew how many nights he'd spent without sleeping, gazing upon the sky in silent, wishing for a miracle that wouldn't come. Until, it did.
When all hope was lost, Bansai (god bless this man) informed him that you were getting better, that you had managed to pull through. At first Shinsuke wouldn't allow himself to believe it, hope was a dangerous thing after all, but once the thought would sink in, he'd visit you.
Without saying a word, he'd enter your room in the middle of the night, dropping by your side. Even if you tried to talk to him, he wouldn't say a word, closing his eye, finally allowing himself to rest by your side. He'd never admit it, but the relief he felt that day was enough to keep him going, enough to delude himself that maybe he could allow himself to be selfish one more time.
A/N: It's no surprise that Shinsuke's part was bigger, right? But, you know, complex man, longer writing. I hope you enjoyed this, angst is my cup of tea and I hope I captured the essence of this request as well as I could. Thank you so much for submitting it in the first place and once again, sorry for the delay!
Hello, I gotta request. Idk if you’re completely comfortable with this, but can you do dating headcanon for a poly relationship with Hijikata/Gintoki?
Poly relationship with Hiji/Gin Headcanons
warning: it doesn't get nsfw but the theme of poly relationship might trigger some? idk im insensitive and nothing bothers me lol
Hijikata and Gintoki in a poly relationship actually sounds like the funniest thing ever, as well as a recipe for disaster.
They are both the kinda guys who aren't overly open about their emotions and only truly open up after they put some time and commitment in a relationship.
I wouldn't be surprised if in their attempt of keeping things casual, they ended up in an open type relationship with someone. Like you know, casually dating and seeing the girl without putting a ring on it.
After all, if they really are to give their heart to someone, then they'd better get to know them first before making up their mind. That's their reasoning, but in reality, they are just too tsundere to admit how whipped they are this early on.
Naturally, their S.O. ended up misunderstanding their intentions and while she was dating one, she found herself dating the other, which isn't surprising if one considers their similarities.
She was upfront about two-timing, just not quite as to who that other person was. Neither Gin nor Toshi were particularly elated over the news, but what could they do? It was their fault for not being clear from the get-go.
To get out of this mess, they would both wanna meet the other person, thinking that if she got to compare the two of them, then she'd obviously know who the better pick is and choose them. They are competitive like that though this was no competition, not when the winner was predetermined.
Or so they thought... until they got to see who the other guy was.
Oh man, their faces! Their initial reaction would be to excuse themselves for sitting at the wrong table, only to come back a minute later completely aggravated.
"Oi, Y/N, why is that mayo freak with you? Did you commit a crime or something?"
"The only one committing crimes here is you, Jouishishi. Y/N, don't tell me you are acquainted with this sugar maniac."
Lots of growling, glaring, collar grabbing and near fist fighting would ensue, until you step up and properly introduce one another as your boyfriends.
This is a literal nightmare for them. Having to politely sit by your side without having at each other's throats for once is enough to kill them, yet they both tolerate one another.
Perhaps after they order their food, they each try to feed you some of it in an attempt to assert dominance and be "cute". But even that turns into a contest over whose special you prefer, spoons of mayo and anko flying past your lips one after the other.
In the end, you ended up throwing up, calling it quits for the day. They both felt bad, even if their first instinct was to blame the other for shoving unhealthy things in your mouth, until eventually, they realized that this wouldn't do. If you were to be happy, then they both needed to work together.
And so, the preferred ,be it intolerable route, was settling with dating you at once.
Of course things weren't that easy and they both had ulterior motives. Instead of opening up about their feelings and requesting exclusivity, they'd prove to you how lame the other was. A direct comparison would easily show who the better choice was and that's how they started putting forth their best selves.
Gin would take you on rides around town with his scooter, share his parfait with you and even save enough money to take you on a proper date rip paying rent. He'd try to refrain from picking on his nose and being improper, showing you how charming he could be if needed.
Toshi would take you on dates to the movies, barely catching that late night screening with you (his work habits could get in the way of your schedule), share his mayo and even cook for you. He's the type to bring flowers and act romantic when he wants to, so expect him to be extra gentle and thoughtful while trying to impress you.
Dating the two would be a blast, considering how they each showed a side of them they don't regularly show to others. It would make each moment feel special, though the same can't be said about the time you get to spend together as three.
Most likely they would avoiding the other person's presence, settling for the few unfortunate run ins around town. If they meet one another, they "not so casually" ask how you guys are doing, trying to evaluate their own progress. Of course they both overreact and end up making things look bigger than they actually are.
Gin could claim that you have gotten intimate with one another, even if that's a blatant lie. Hijikata would probably panic and exaggerate things himself as well, hinting at a wild sexual adventure you never had. The result would lead to them being jealous over stuff that never happened, each pushing towards the consummation of your relationship.
This is where I have to mention that I don't see either of them willingly partaking in a fully functioning poly relationship. Other than their little competition over who gets to win the girl, they wouldn't stand for their woman sleeping with the other.
As Gin stated in Patriot Reunion Arc, he isn't a fan of the whole Eskimo Brothers concept. If he found out Hiji and you slept together, he'd probably never speak to either one of you again and the same goes for Hiji. It is a red flag for both.
Okay maybe they wouldn't want to speak to you or the other guy, but you must know that if you ever found yourself in a trouble and came to them, or they just so happened to be passing by, they'd still put their life in the line to save you. Just because things are over, it doesn't mean they don't care about your wellbeing, and would probably think of you from time to time even if they act as if they don't.
In the end, the one who gets to sleep with you first, will be the ultimate winner. Neither of them would choose to go on after being aware of the fact and would terminate the relationship. They are too prideful to keep on chasing after someone who's already made their decision.
Now if you ask me who gets to win, that entirely depends on you. Either Gin or Toshi would make great partners, emotional baggage or not. They'd go on great extends to protect you and would make sure that as long as you are around, there is always a smile upon your lips.
Just make sure you don't end up breaking either one's hearts. Even if they never admit it, their feelings for you are legitimate and precious to them.
