It's definitely missing something and I think that something is more ginger, because I did not use nearly as much as the recipe I was following called for, but it might just be carbonation or something because the beer still came out with a good strong kick

Ginger beer tastes like medicine and worse it's carbonated. It'd be fine if it was just awful tasting but instead it's masquerading as a soft drink and soft drinks are supposed to taste good
