uh that is to say good evening i'm told there is 'I Didn't Sign Up For This (Yes You Did)' going on here and i am here to politely request that it be downloaded into my mind 🫣💕
Hello, my friend and good evening to you! (I say at 9AM lol)
I detailed a little bit about I Didn't Sign Up For This (Yes You Did) here when @pinksparkl asked, but I will give you a little more!
I cannot, unfortunately, download it directly into your brain because it's not finished yet lol. It's like a whopping 3 whole paragraphs
So, a lot of this fic has elements of my actual marriage in it. Because James is the only pre-married character now so I am obviously the authority on it as one of the only married members of the fandom (for legal reasons: that is very much a joke)
So, the basic premise is James coming home from a job early and he intends to surprise his spouse, but when he opens the door into the house, the living room floor is covered in a plastic tarp to protect it while James' spouse is chaotically painting. Which prompts James muttering, "I didn't sign up for this" and his spouse's response of, "Yes you did! You married me!"
When I say this has elements of my marriage in it, what I mean is that in this fic, I am James, and my husband's chaos is embodied in the spouse.
My husband is ADHD and I have, 100%, found him in moments of
more than once, and I wanted to reflect some of that in this fic. I like giving James and his spouse a little sweet domesticity because I also really like giving them angst because of James' job
But since they are married, I think it's fun to show that little bit of difference off
The painting idea is definitely a me thing, my husband doesn't paint. But I love the idea of spouses who have been together for a long time and know just about everything about each other still being like, "You're exhausting but I love you more than life itself"
Like, James' Springback video did show that he and his spouse have some contention in their relationship because he's gone all the time (understandable) and I've written about that.
But I also want to write about the good times for them. The joy and the silliness that comes from sharing a living space with a spouse that you absolutely adore
IDK I'm trying to explore all the facets of a relationship we've had one (1) prime universe video about and kinda one (1) Imperium video about. I assume that the listener in both videos is the same person, and I like to assume that circumstances are similar. Childhood friends turned lovers. So these two have done it all together, and been through thick and thin by one another's side and choose to stay beside each other even though their relationship has up and downs, like any relationship would. James' quiet line that's almost easy to miss in his Springback video about "please don't leave" is such a delicious jump-off point for all sorts of things. An exploration of insecurity, angst, and even joy
Which is where this one is coming from. I want to show the fun. My husband and I have a lot of fun together and I think having shared interests that are fun to do together is so important in a relationship
So the little bit I'm going to share with you that I didn't share with Sparkl's ask is that James joins his spouse's painting with a sigh and a big smile and they get to actually enjoy some time getting a little messy together
I haven't decided yet if it turns into a full on paint fight but there's room for that, if I'm feeling chaotic. My writing often stems from my own mood so we'll see what happens!
💕💕 self-love time! talk about which ones of YOUR creations (edits, artworks, fanfics) you like the most then send to other creators to do the same 💕💕
Awww thank you, Ginger!
Uh... which ones I like most...
Like literally every Avior one-shot I've ever written (even the ones that are trash)
But if I have to pick a favorite fanfiction that I've written overall... A) that's not fair and B) My Starlight or You're Mine (I Don't Share)
My favorite artwork is the one I did of E'Laetum cradling a sleeping Avior and Min'Ara holding an awake Starlight (<- Link). I loved it because, like, I imagined that was how their bodies were "hanging" in the weft of the Meridian. More symbolically/metaphorically than literally but it's still pretty and I love how I visualize the Sovereigns
The Sovereigns' hands were traces of vector images because I am abysmal at hands and knew if I wanted them to look decent they wouldn't. But everything else was all me!
a game?? a game!! but what to choose.... 🤔🤔 i have to say that 'Not Again' fills my entire brain i love your milo and sweetheart SO much - in your mind, what exactly was the incident that left milo so worse for wear? 💕💕💕
Awww! Thanks Ginger! I love writing Milo and Sweetheart. They're such a good dynamic.
Well, when I started the fic, I had no clue why Milo was so injured. I just knew he was gonna be, and then I had to justify it and give it context later. Hence, I made up a bear fight XD
So what I think happened is Milo, Darlin', and Asher were out running in the woods (for exercise? Maybe a race? that much is up for interpretation), and Ash got side-swiped in the foreleg/arm by said bear when the group got too close and were going too fast so the bear felt threatened
And Milo and Darlin' are both either outright-stated or heavily-implied (respectively) to be Protectors™
So once Ash got injured, Darlin' and Milo got between him and the bear and fought it off, both of them taking a bit of a beating in the process
Milo's wolf form is canonically pretty small, so I imagine he's fairly nimble and quick to make up for his lack of size and brute strength *glances significantly at David and Darlin'* but we all know the man is impulsive and I'm getting the feeling he got beaten up pretty badly because he kept trying to protect Darlin' too so the bear's claws got him good.
I'm pretty sure Sam came and picked them all up since it was either after dark or close enough to sunset to not burn him. I'm also pretending this is after Quinn has been dealt with so we don't have to worry about Darlin' shedding blood
