Fankidtober Day 4: Rosemary
Full Name: Rosemary Tachibana (Tachibana Touji - 橘花 藤) Family: Jasmine Tachibana & Cress Finley (Parents), Yuusuke Hasumi (Older Half-Brother), Cicely Callahan (Older Half-Sister), Sylvestre von Aue (Older Half-Brother), Lex & Thyme Tachibana (Triplet Brothers), Jacques von Aue (Younger Half-Brother), Linnea von Aue (Younger Half-Sister), Cilan & Clemont Finley (Uncles), Basile, Verbena & Cori Finley (Cousins), Chili Finley & Korrina Cadoret (Uncle & Aunt), Ginger Finley & Anise Cadoret (Cousins), May Kosugi-Lǚ (Cousin Once Removed), Levi, Evan & Ione Lǚ (Second Cousins), Max Lund (Cousin Once Removed), Trixie & Skyler Lund (Second Cousins), Molly Hale (Cousin Once Removed) Date of Birth: July 26, 3019 Age: 17 Hometown: Olivine, Johto Occupation: Pokémon Coordinator & Cryptid Enthusiast Starter Pokémon: Staryu --> Starmie Notes:
Rosemary has a bit of an obsession aliens and cryptids stemming from a supposed Close Encounter she had at the Glitter Lighthouse when she was young. She often drags her traveling companion, Carmen, into trying to hunt for mythical pokémon or aliens which she wants Carmen to try and study. (Carmen would rather write her Junior Researcher papers on actually proven to exist pokémon thank you.)
Due to their rare status and similarity to a certain cryptid, Rosemary has no less than three Dunsparce on her team, one of which is shiny. (She later gives one to Carmen, however.)
Rosemary’s brother, Thyme, has a strong interest in ghosts and the paranormal and the two of them often argue over whether ghosts or aliens/cryptids are ‘cooler’. The one place their interests overlap is a love of supposed ‘cursed’ or ‘mystery’ spots where many people tend to go missing. Though they have their own theories for why such places get their reputations!
Rosemary started her journey as a trainer, though eventually began entering contests instead as she enjoyed showing off the beauty and coolness of her pokémon.
Rosemary’s outfit color scheme was inspired by Jasmine’s EX color scheme in PokéMas. The blue and grey reminded me of Cress a bit so it felt fitting!
Gingerbread is one of my fave rarepairs/nevermet ships so super happy I got the chance to draw one of their kids finally.
Pokemon Next Gen (Cafe Kids): Cinnamon Reid
Cinnamon is the daughter of Cress and Jasmine. Ever since she was young and being raised with her cousins Selene and Dijon, Cinnamon loved working in the kitchen however instead of cooking, she would focus on making drinks such as tea and coffee which fits as her father is a Water-type specialist. At some point, she was talking with Dijon who desired to open a cafe. While she was unsure of the idea, she did want to join him in finding other candidates and she wanted to ask their parents for permission first and when they got the okay from their families they had made plans for the cafe and started looking for possible recruits, they managed to meet and recruit Madeleine, Scottie, Honey, Maple and Dill for their cafe and they all planed and worked together on how the cafe should look like. After a while, their hard work paid off and they managed to open their cafe for business. Much like her mother, Cinnamon is gentle and soft-spoken and she cares deeply for others and her Pokemon, but if someone pushes her buttons she will get aggressive and will defeat them in a battle, as the strongest of her group she mostly handles anyone bold enough to try and cause trouble. Like her father, Cinnamon tends to speak about Pokemon concerning her element, which is Water and Steel-types, during battles she’ll speak about herself in third-person. Another way to describe Cinnamon is that she’s like water, calm and gentle at times but on some days she’ll be rough and wild. Her main job at the cafe is to make and serving drinks for customers.
Her main colors are blue and orange. From blue, she’s calm and relaxed. Blue represents how she’s helpful, responsible, and trustworthy. Cinnamon also has great communication skills and is very wise as she knows how to prepare any kind of drink to perfection due to all the research she does in her free time. Blue also represents how she’s orderly and how she knows how to keep the peace in the cafe, it also represents how she’s caring and devoted to what she does. From orange, she’s extroverted and optimistic. Orange also helps her be creative with decorating some of her drinks and how she helps create a lot of the drinks on the menu. It also represents how she’s warm-hearted and values her friendship with her cousins and the other kids she works with.
Her Pokemon:
Panpour- Panpour is the daughter of Cress’ Simipour. Much like her trainer, Panpour is gentle and soft-spoken but when the situation calls for it, she will be aggressive and will force any aggressor out of the cafe without breaking a sweat. Panpour helps Cinnamon with preparing the tea and coffee by providing the water in her tuff, she also gathers everything Cinnamon needs such as the herbs, beans, or berries for whatever Cinnamon is going to make. Panpour also takes time to water the plants around the cafe and she’ll assist with cleaning up whenever something needs cleaning. Panpour is Cinnamon’s strongest Pokemon and she doesn’t want to evolve, she’s sometimes seen on Cinnamon’s shoulder.
Caught in a Pokeball.
Ability is Gluttony.
Moves are Brine, Acrobatics, Scald, Aqua Ring, Aqua Tail, Dig, Mud Sport, Hydro Pump, Water Pledge, and Water Pulse.
Ludicolo- Ludicolo was caught by Cinnamon when she was a Lombre, she found her to be cute and figured that when she evolved she would be a great waitress and possible entertainer. When Lombre was ready, Cinnamon had given her a Water stone and had her evolve into a Ludicolo. When she was a Lombre, Ludicolo would train for a battle and practice being a waitress for when she’s ready to evolve. After she evolved, she became cheerful and happy to help customers by giving them their drinks, mostly by having said drinks be placed on her hat. While she is cheerful and loves to dance, she is a force to be reckoned with in battle and given that she dances as she battles, it makes it hard for opponents to know which way she’s going and hard to hit. Ludicolo often entertains children by dancing for them or playing with them when she isn’t sent to wait tables.
Caught in a Net Ball.
Ability is Swift Swim.
Moves are Rain Dance, Hydro Pump, Giga Drain, Thunder Punch, Seed Bomb, Energy Ball, Muddy Water, Metronome, Scald, and Teeter Dance.
Alolan Sandshrew- Cinnamon had caught Sandshrew while she and her family were on a trip to Alola they were visiting Tapu Village to learn more about Alolan culture. Cinnamon was exploring with her cousins and they had found an Alolan Sandshrew, Cinnamon had befriended one and later caught him after a while of getting to know him. Sandshrew is a sweet Pokemon, before meeting Cinnamon he was very lonely and didn’t have anyone to spend time with. When he met Cinnamon, he clung to her and will do anything she asks because of how much she means to him. He’s fiercely protective of Cinnamon and is often the first to defend her if someone tries to attack her. Sandshrew’s job is making and cutting ice for iced coffee, iced tea, or shaved ice. Sandshrew enjoys what he does and is happy to make others smile and he’s happy to help Cinnamon, mostly when he gets praises by her.
Caught in a Heavy Ball.
Ability is Slush Rush.
Moves are Hail, Defense Curl, Ice Ball, Ice Punch, Iron Head, Metal Claw, Icicle Crash, Aqua Tail, Aerial Ace, and Iron Tail.
Gingerbreadshipping!! :D (I <3 the ship name)
How they first met: They first met when Jasmine was on a trip to Kalos to visit a botany convention. At the time she was studying herbal medicine, so she was interested in learning more about plants there. She was quite overwhelmed by both the crowds and being in a foreign country. Cress was at the same convention to learn more about cooking ingredients (at this point he and his brothers were living in Kalos) and was also feeling a bit overwhelmed by the crowds, so when he saw Jasmine looking lost he suggested they team up so that the event was less intimidating for the both of them. They became quite good friends over that weekend and exchanged numbers when it was over and Jasmine had to return back to Johto.Where their first date was: A few years after they first met, Jasmine came to further her study of medicine in Kalos for a few months, a decision in no small part influenced by her continued correspondence with Cress. The two, at this point, had had quite a bit of romantic tension in their messages and the last time they had met up when Cress visited Johto. However, this trip to Kalos by Jasmine was their first time going on a proper date. Chili and Cilan both made plans to be out of the apartment for the evening and Cress invited Jasmine over for a home cooked meal. It was very romantic and both had a really good time just talking to each other and enjoying some good food. When they had their first kiss: They had their first kiss on the first date. Jasmine insisted on helping Cress clean up after the meal and as they did the dishes together, she realized how domestic the whole scene felt and just how right it felt as well. Without really thinking, she shuffled over to Cress and leaned against him, when he leaned back, she stood on her tiptoes and they kissed. Who cooks: Cress, obviously, since he’s the professional chef of the couple. He likes to experiment with flavors and techniques and often tries out new recipes on his family, which can lead to hit-or-miss meals sometimes. For the most part though, all his new dishes are well-received and Jasmine and their kids are always excited to see what Cress can come up with.Who proposed: Cress proposed to Jasmine! The two had been dating for a while and Cress had moved to Johto to live with Jasmine about a year earlier. He felt like his life and hers were in the place where marriage seemed right. He had found a job at a restaurant in Olivine and had plans to open up his own place eventually and Jasmine had started a herbal medicine clinic on the side of being Gym Leader. The proposal was nothing public or showy; Cress made an extra nice meal for him and his girlfriend, then brought out dessert, a small orange sponge cake (Jasmine’s favorite) with ‘Will you marry me?’ written in icing across the top. Jasmine was so touched that she didn’t even want to eat the cake at first and spoil the message. After a bit of happy tears they did end up eating the cake, and to this day eating orange sponge cake makes Jasmine extra happy. The dominate one: Cress. In public, both he and Jasmine seem quite mild-mannered and quiet, though while that’s fairly close to Jasmine’s true personality, behind closed doors, Cress can be very dominant and bold. Probably thanks to his past as a member of the Shadow Triad, he’s not afraid to take control and Jasmine quite likes that side of her husband, even if admitting so makes her blush.Their favorite pastime together: One of their favorite family activities for the weekend or holidays is going to the beach. It doesn’t matter what season it is, they’ll go at least once a month. Cress enjoys swimming when the weather permits, otherwise he likes to explore tidepools and the like. Jasmine isn’t as much of a swimmer, but she enjoys relaxing by the water with a good book or watching her husband and kids play in the water. She also likes to walk along the beach and find shells, sea glass, and other pretty things washed up by the waves. She keeps them all in glass jars around the house and sometimes will craft with them. An amusing incident (or incidents as it happened more than once) is the time Cress found a Clauncher in a tidepool, very lost and far from home. Cress wanted to cook it, since Clauncher is a delicacy while Jasmine was horrified he would even think of doing such a thing and insisted they take in to her clinic until they could find a way to get back to its natural habitat. Who kissed who first: Jasmine kissed Cress!Who is the flirt: Cress, though usually not in public. When in private, however, he loves to fluster Jasmine with flirty comments.Who is the romantic: Both of them are about equally romantic, but in different ways. Cress’ idea of romance is usually food-related, while Jasmine prefers the type of thing found in her favorite romance-novels - rose petals everywhere, candles, hot tubs, etc. Who wakes up first: Old habits die hard and Cress is still a very early riser since it was drilled into him during his Plasma days. All the same, he has to get up early for work anyway, so he doesn’t mind all that much. Jasmine prefers to sleep in a little bit, though still gets up pretty early. Of course, their kids did not all inherit that ‘morning person’ trait, so when the triplets are at home Jasmine and Cress try to keep quiet in the mornings so as not to disturb them until it’s time for their wakeup call. Who comforts who the most: Jasmine is somewhat prone to anxiety, so Cress does his best to make sure she’s never too nervous about something and helps her calm down if she gets overwhelmed with nerves. However, Cress still has lasting issues from his old life in Team Plasma and before that, which can manifest in nightmares or panic attacks. Whenever he’s upset, Jasmine does her best to make sure he knows he’s safe and that she’s there for him, using the tips she learned specifically to make her husband feel most at ease and comfortable whenever his past comes back to haunt him. The two really do end up comforting each other quite often. The cuddler: Somewhat related to the above answer, both Cress and Jasmine are quite the cuddlers. They enjoy physical contact with each other and it helps them feel calm. They’re not very publicly affectionate, but they will often hold hands or Jasmine will be on Cress’ arm when they’re out and about. At home, they are often found cuddling - Jasmine especially likes to sit in Cress’ lap so they can hold each other. The big spoon: Cress is quite a bit taller than Jasmine, so he typically fills this role. Often, Jasmine will also sleep facing him, so that she can hold him as well.
It’s Shipping Saturday! Today I’ll share a bit on how the Striation Triplets met their significant others, since I have all of them in rarepairs. Note: In this universe, the triplets were also the Shadow Triad, so that has a big impact on their characterization. First up, Cress and Jasmine. He had met her while she was visiting Kalos for a convention on botany (she was studying herbal medicine at the time, and Cress was there for cooking reasons) and they ended up befriending each other. They stayed in touch after Jasmine returned home, and Cress decided to visit her after a while. While in Johto, he ended up just sort of falling in love with the region and this was around the time he started to fall for Jasmine, not that he realized it at the time. While there, he also became aware of a culinary school in Johto that looked like it would really cater to his own interests in cooking. Cress is the brother who probably loves cooking the most and this just seemed like the perfect opportunity to pursue the professional chef career he had been dreaming of for a while. His brothers convinced him to go to culinary school in Kalos rather than Johto, but Jasmine surprised him by doing a sort of 'semester abroad' in Kalos to spend time with him, which was when they started dating. After he finished culinary school was when Cress started seriously considering moving to Johto. Jasmine had her Gym to attend to and he was still interested in the cuisine of Johto and learning more there. It took a lot of convincing and compromising, but he did eventually make the move and was married to Jasmine a few years later. Currently, he’s known as the ‘Ninja Sushi Chef’ of Olivine. Next, Cilan and Clemont. For them it was a situation of just running into each other a lot! The brothers were living in Lumiose while trying to settle down and find a way to integrate into society better, and were all working at the same restaurant at this time. Clemont tended to go there pretty often for lunch since it was close to his Gym, which is how he and Cilan started to get to know each other. Being the 'information specialist' of the trio, Cilan had a number of shared interests as Clemont in electronics and the like, so they had that as a starting point for their conversations. Clemont was interested how someone with obvious skill in programming and electronics (and who spoke Kalosian with a Unovan accent) ended up working in a cafe and Cilan sort of .... danced around the question. Clemont offered to give Cilan access to his labs and maybe work on some projects together since he needed a fresh pair of eyes to go over some of his more difficult projects. Cilan was actually really surprised that Clemont was willing to trust him with his work so easily which definitely endeared him to him. After that well, the rest is history. They end up dating after so much time spent together. Finally, Chili and Korrina. While his brothers pursued their cooking skills, Chili focused on being a trainer. He really missed being a Gym Leader and wanted to find a job where he could battle and train with his team. His search led him to Shalour, where he decided to study a bit about Mega Evolution, something that greatly interested him. In particular, he wanted to try and see if he could achieve Mega Evolution with his Absol, his first pokémon who he hadn’t had a chance to use much at all in his Gym Leader days. It was during his time training in Shalour that he first met Korrina and the two at first clashed pretty frequently. Korrina didn’t like Chili’s motivations for training in Mega Evolution, that is, in her words ‘just to see if he could’ and Chili didn’t like how Korrina didn’t understand how important Mega Evolution would be for his bond with Absol. It took a lot of time, but eventually the two of them began to see eye-to-eye and from there their friendship developed into romantic feelings. Chili began working in Korrina’s Gym, eventually taking it over when his (by that point) wife became and Elite Four member.
In honor of it being the Asagi triplet’s birthdays (either today or yesterday depending on your timezone), I’ll share some headcanons about their family! Cress works at the Olivine Café. He loves the chance to get to cook for a living since it's a legit passion of his, and working at a tavern in a port town lets him meet all sorts of interesting people and hear some good gossip. Most people know him as the 'Gym Leader's Husband' rather than any other distinction which is just fine by him. He does get homesick for his brothers in far off Kalos once and a while, and tries to take regular trips to meet up with them (or they come to him). Jasmine continues her work as Gym Leader and has grown a lot more confident over the years. Frustrated at being unable to help Amphy when he got sick, she decides to start studying pokémon medicine, visiting Cianwood frequently to talk with the herbalist there and staying up late taking online courses. Over time, she builds a reputation of being able to deal with the more unusual illnesses and injuries that pokémon may get. As they are her specialty, she's especially known for treating even the most stubborn steel types. Parsley was always a wild child, as opposed to his more subdued identical brother and conniving but anxious sister. In the dynamic of the three, Parsley was the doer in their plans. He never settles on one type he likes, choosing to raise a diverse team, but when he inherits the gym, he plans on sticking to steel types like his mother. He has this goal to swim to Cianwood City after Rosemary dared him that he couldn't do it. He has yet to make all the way there without stopping on a shoal to catch his breath, but he dreams to one day. He's probably the most athletic of the triplets and can often be seen zooming around Olivine on his bike doing errands for people or running late for some appointment or another. Rosemary is the conspiracy fiend, the one who loves spooky stories and hidden agendas. Part of this comes from her naturally anxious and suspicious nature and part of it was born of curiosity about her father's mysterious past. She collects pretty much anything relating to conspiracy theories - books, magazines, she even has a tsuchinoko plush toy which is one of her comfort items. She's also the one to focus on training water types like her father. As a child, Rosemary loved standing at the docks and watching the ships come into port, or collecting seashells on the beach. This love of the sea translated to a love of water types. Rosemary is a trained sailor as well and has her own sailboat, a Sunfish named 'Tangerine.' Thyme is probably the quietest of the triplets and has a habit of fading into the background. Unlike his siblings, he has a distinct interest in exploring his dark mage heritage, leading him to train mainly ghost types. He finds that spirits are often lonely and confused and, due to his highly empathetic nature, determined that he wanted to find a way to fulfill their wishes. After spending some time with the Hasumi clan in Ecruteak City, Thyme decides to open a private practice as a Medium, helping people with their spiritual problems and helping ghosts at the same time. He later travels the world to meet more kinds of spirits and comes back from this journey with a veritable menagerie of spirits trailing behind him. The Asagi household is now perhaps one of the most haunted locations in Johto outside of the Hasumi compound. As a family in general, they are fairly quiet for the most part. Cress and Jasmine are both pretty soft-spoken and even Parsley isn't all that wild compared to most people, he just stands out among his family as being rambunctious. With Cress being a chef, there are frequently big family meals. Often Rosemary helps out as well. She's quite the skilled cook herself, though her brothers are rather hopeless at it. There's often a decent amount of good natured bickering between the triplets while their parents exchange a knowing smile over the heads of their bantering children. As a couple, Cress and Jasmine are the type to stay quite cheesily romantic even years into their marriage. They often go on dates, and Cress will buy flowers on his way home from work to surprise his wife with. They're not super publicly affectionate, but everyone in Olivine knows how in love they are by the little things they do for each other. Their family seems to have a shared trait of being hopeless romantics and cheesy romcoms and soaps are a household staple on weekend 'TV Nights'.
