Pokemon Next Gen (Cafe Kids): Maple Kotone

Maple is the adopted daughter of Lyra and Whitley. Even before she was adopted, Maple was always interested in cooking and baking as she would spend her time reading about different recipes and playing with an easy bake oven, she also loves to experiment with different recipes like combining two different recipes and making something new, something that her moms and everyone else admire about her. She was then recruited to work at the cafe, she agreed and was appointed as the head chef and a pastry chef in case Madeleine was out sick or if she needed help. Maple is as sweet and the syrup she’s named after, always having a smile on her face and being peppy and cheerful. She’s also energetic, mostly when she’s with her moms or when she’s with her friends. Maple is very good at acting, something she had picked up from Whitley after living with her and Lyra for a long time. Maple is also caring and very motherly to her Pokemon or young kids that are around the cafe, she’s currently dating Dill, whom she had a crush on.

Her main colors are red and pink. From red, Maple is passionate and confident in herself and her skills in cooking and baking. Red also represents how she’s courageous, spontaneous, and how she’s determined to help make the cafe succeed. Red also helps energize her and give her a boost when she needs it but at times she can be quick to temper but those are very rare. From pink, she’s compassionate and very affectionate. Pink helps calm her down she gets too excited thanks to the red she wears, it represents how she’s a romantic and how she’s very feminine. Pink also lets her nurturing side out, as well as how she’s caring and how she always has hope.

Her Pokemon:

Azurill- Maple had received Azurill as a gift from her moms on her tenth birthday, she was very happy to receive Azurill as her first Pokemon. As Azurill is a baby Pokemon, she needs a lot of attention which wasn’t hard for Maple as she’s naturally good at nurturing others and is more than happy to take care of Azurill. Azurill is a bit of a crybaby and will cry when she gets upset or at times she’ll cry when she’s happy, she’ll stop crying once she sees Maple and will start cheering and bounce on her tail. Azurill acts as the mascot for the cafe, even though she’s shy around adults she’ll still play with kids. When Azurill is with Maple she’s always happy and is often seen being carried by her or just standing next to her when she’s working. Azurill can also be very playful, which is why she’s known as the mascot of the cafe.

Ability is Huge Power.

Moves are Draining Kiss, Mud Shot, Whirlpool, Headbutt, Helping Hand, Slam, Bubble Beam, Iron Tail, Water Pulse, and Swift.

Pignite- Maple was given Pignite as a Tepig along with a Chikorita. Tepig was more energetic and willing to battle between him and Chikorita, which caused them to be on bad terms for a long time. It wasn’t until they both evolved that they started getting along and working together. Pignite learned how to mellow down a bit, but he’s still eager to battle when the time is right but most of the time he’s just helping at the cafe by either waiting tables or by assisting Maple with cooking. Pignite is very helpful and is always willing to do whatever is needed at the cafe, he’s also very prideful and sometimes he can’t help but show off when other Pokemon are present, he’s also a huge flirt and will flirt with any female Pokemon he sees or finds attractive.

Moves are Arm Thrust, Flamethrower, Fire Pledge, Heat Crash, Brick Break, Fire Punch, Thunder Punch, Focus Punch, Sucker Punch, and Flame Charge.

Bayleef- Maple was given Bayleef as a Chikorita along with a Tepig. Chikorita was more docile and wanted to relax between her and Tepig, which caused them to be on bad terms for a long time. It wasn’t until they both evolved and started getting along and working together. Bayleef learned how to get stronger and to be more ready for a battle, but she still likes to relax and take things easy. Bayleef’s main job is to watch over baby Pokemon as well as wait tables along with the other Pokemon waiters. Bayleef is also tasked with babysitting Azurill when Maple is too busy to watch her. She’ll also help calm down anyone who’s arguing or angry or perk anyone up if they’re feeling tired from working. Even though she and Pignite are on better terms, she still finds him showboating to other female Pokemon to be annoying.

Moves are Sunny Day, Synthesis, Magical Leaf, Vine Whip, Sweet Scent, Solar Beam, Ancient Power, Energy Ball, Grass Pledge, and Aromatherapy.

Lyra has better things to do than entertain either her worrywart of a best friend or her rival. She has lines - two of them, exactly: AUGHH and IT HURTS - to learn and outfits to be fitted for.

Rosa giggles when she sees Lyra's enthusiasm and she compliments her on it; "If you're sparky enough, the director might just pick you up for a starring role! That's kind of how I got found too, sorta..."

She goes in (it's unlocked!) and looks around. Just for a bit. Ethan always tells her it's going to get her into trouble, but it's never happened before. He's just a worrywart.

"What are you doing?" She hears from behind her about five minutes into going through a vanity perched against the wall. Lyra turns, hands full of makeup, and stares at the obviously younger girl. Not much younger, maybe. But younger.

"Looking around." Duh. "What are you doing?"

"This is my trailer." The girl sighs, crossing her arms. Lyra empties her hands so she can mimic the pose. "We're shooting a movie here, so I have to use one."

"A movie, huh." Big news. Lyra hums thoughtfully. "Well, I'm the Kanto-Johto Champion. I thought I'd have permission to take a little peeksy at anything happening in it!"

The girl's demeanor changes almost instantly -- from irritated at her privacy being invaded straight to fluttery eyelashes and big smiles. It's pretty cool, actually, what's her secret --

"I'm Rosa!" The girl curtsies a little, and Lyra notices something she should've noticed like five minutes ago: she's dressed like a princess. "I'm the Champion of the Unova region! Er, well, right now I'm a forest princess or something for the shoot, but I'm normally the Champion."

Lyra watches her stumble over her words and grins -- they were totally gonna be best friends.
