MerMay Day 7: KPop 💛👹🎤

I'm sure I'm not the only one who saw "KPop" and immediately thought to do one of the Huntr/x ladies – or at least, one of the beloved characters from KPop Demon Hunters. I LOVED Rumi's patterns after she embraced them, and I though they would make for a beautiful tail pattern.

MerMay Day 4: Star Wars Day 💫

I couldn't possibly resist the urge to recreate one of Padme's many MANY looks into a mermaid version. I loved this simple little sketch, but I definitely got sidetracked on the tail...

How would a mer-Padme style her tail? It can't match every outfit. Unless all of her outfits would be the same color? But it wouldn't be as iconic, the range just isn't there... In the end, I opted for a match to this outfit, and chose to move on with my day 😂

Is anyone else suffering withdrawals from a lack of Fallout? Or wondering what the heck is going on with everyone? I cannot get enough, I'm truly this 🤏 close to stealing my fiance's playstation to do a Fallout 4 play-though for myself just to scratch the itch 😂

I was wildly entertained by Lucy's optimism meeting Cooper's sarcastic, grizzled experience of the Wasteland in Season 2, and I cannot wait for more!! So in the meantime, I've added these two to my collection of Lil Bitties – and you'll be seeing them in my shop, too! They'll only cost you 3 caps each 😉

Rocky Grace save stars ⭐️ (swipe for a lil bonus 🤭)

So I saw #ProjectHailMary this weekend and it was Amaze Amaze Amaze!!! I'm so glad that I was able to finish the book before jumping right into the movie (thanks to my fiancee for the encouragement 😂) and it did justice for such a wonderful story!

I gotta love a story about hope and humanity... and a Rock that I would die for ❤️ If you haven't seen it, GO DO IT!! If you haven't read the book, what are you waiting for??? There's still so many fun details to discover, it'll be like getting some bonus behind-the-scenes with Rocky and Ryland 😂

MerMay Day 10: Shellphone 🐚☎️

Can you tell that I love 1950s, Pin-up era artwork? This is my second drawing with vintage inspiration, and it won't be the last you'll see for this challenge 😉 This one is inspired by a beautiful piece from American Pin-Up artist Alfred Leslie Buell.

Something about this drawing made me realize, probably later than everyone else, just how heavy the Character Design is in this challenge! It makes for the opportunity to ask yourself "Okay... now what would a Mermaid do with a shellphone? What does a shellphone look like?" Or even, for more direct translations, "Now where do I put the tail..." And I'm not surprised, given that "Creating Characters with Personality" by @tombancroft1 (one of the pioneers of MerMay) sitting on my bookshelf 📚

As you can see, I started putting my own spin on Buell's painting when I laid down my line art, coming up with a new vision of who this mermaid would be, and I leaned even further into it when I laid down my color. I LOVE the way she came out, and I had so much fun experimenting with this prompt.

MerMay Day 5: Wonderland ⏰🐰🌹

With Wonderland being such a kooky place, the possibilities were endless. BUT when I saw a screenshot of Alice in the "Drink Me" glass, I knew I had to put Mer-Alice in the bottle!

For her tail, I liked the idea that there was a little bit of Wonderland's eccentricness with her all along, so I played with a new brush and created a pattern I really enjoy! I think it had a nice balance of Alice and the crazy adventures she would soon be finding herself in.

I couldn't draw Rocky without also drawing Ryland Grace as one of my Lil Bitties! Featuring a dumb Sonic shirt that I made for a match of @playjackboxgames Tee-KO... it was a hit amongst my friends, we almost bought it 😂

Have you seen Project Hail Mary? If you haven't, why not question?? And even though I'm not typically one for sci-fi books, I LOVED this book, and can't reccomend it enough!! 👎👎👎 (iykyk)
