A year has passed since I was first introduced to ginla, a Toronto and Brooklyn duo formed by college friends who at the time, had just released their eponymous self titled EP. They bring us a fresh swathe of their gossamer pop and pellucid indietronica on new single LOMO. As told to Office Magazine earlier today, "'LOMO' in a literal sense is about ‘living on your own.' More specifically, its about being comfortable with that and realizing that it doesn't have to be so heavy. Understanding your relationship with yourself. The song was written at the turning point of a sad time." LOMO is a delicately glimmering first taste of much more to come from ginla later this year. We float in a misty daydream with ginla and their lo-fi song, an autumnal escapade that renews our affection for the pair. LOMO is out now on Terrible Records. Stream/download, here.
