This is Jolly Tall he is my childhood toy I've had since I was 2. I think I got him at Paignton Zoo. Recently retrieved from my parents attic.

I remember seeing the elephants, I didn't realise how young I was but I distinctly remember the elephants reaching over this stone wall with a gap in front of it, and another part of the zoo where they had a parrot riding a small bike. I asked my parents and they said it was Paignton, and I would've been in a buggy and they lifted me up to touch the elephant's trunks. I looked at vintage photos of the zoo and low and behold it was the place!

I used to dress him in baby clothes and push him around in a doll's pram.

Anyhow I have no idea what brand Jolly Tall is, his tag was removed long ago because I hated the texture of tags on my plushies.

How are plushies made? 🧸

First, I draw the front and side views and turn them into a sewing pattern.

Then I cut the fabric pieces and sew them together.

Finally, I add the eyes and embroider the nose… and the plushie comes to life ✂️🧵
