I saw a heron today too!!
googling shit like "why do i feel bad after hanging out with my friends" and all of the answers are either "you need better friends" (i don't; my friends are wonderful) or "your social battery is drained, you need to rest and regain your energy levels" (i don't; i've got tons of energy, it's just manifesting as over-the-top neurotic mania). why is this even happening. it's like some stupid toll i have to pay as a punishment for enjoying myself too much
I actually, genuinely think social event aftercare would fix me. I need someone to put me to bed and say "you were fun today and no one hated you"
#theres a thing called 'larp drop' thats essentially this#esp since when having a great time you might be more inclined to disregard your limits and ignore discomfort#(and forget to eat/drink if its larp whoops)#and then once you have a moment to yourself it all comes crashing in#source: once forgot to eat at larp and had a sobbing fit in my car that ended the instant i bit into a chicken nugget - @queerfarmgremlin
this is also true of festivals, conventions, pride parades, concerts, and any situation where you have a lot of fun with other people!
A supervisor of mine was talking to me about this. They recalled how they'd given up certain activities because of the huge dopamine rush they would get, which led to really bad crashes afterward. When they explained it to me, I got blasted back immediately to all the random bouts of anxiousness and even guilt (because I didn't know what to call it at the time) I would come down with, usually after hitting streaks of things going really well for me and having a really great time. I said, "THAT'S WHAT THAT IS??" They told me when they discussed it with their therapist, the therapist called it a "dopamine crash" and says it's actually super common in people who have ADHD.
I get really fucking depressed after hanging out with people or having any kind of fun. And it also majorly bums me out after someone is nice to me. Why can’t I just enjoy things? It’s not even guilt I just feel inexplicably angry at everyone suddenly.
My brain simply isn’t designed to withstand any kind of joy
I dunno if this is useful but you can experience a "dopamine crash" after doing something fun/stimulating for a while including socialising- I definitely experience this and need like at least day to recover after social events. It has various names including Social Hangover or Comedown.
It's the same process that happens after taking stimulant drugs, or other highly stimulating activities (known in BDSM communities, as well as "con crash" where people who attend conventions get these negative feelings after the event).
As someone with some emotional dysregulation stuff this can be really awful to deal with.
Here's an interesting article about it. It's aimed at parents but I found this useful for giving myself leeway after an exciting day and when I'm feeling shitty

I got this lovely Steiff Molly Dangling Horse from my friend @rainbowredcrayon!
He is a lovely plush, but I felt like his default shredded memory foam stuffing was too solid for me. I took a BUNCH out and replaced it with a light polyester stuffing and some weighted beans.
I then decided to turn this chestnut horse into a bay!! I had just the right paint for this, combined with my mini airbrush and lots of brushing, I'm really pleased with how he looks now whilst keeping his softness.
I used some alcohol markers on his nose and ears to finish up the transformation!
Ironically I've decided to call him "Chestnuts Roasting" or Chestnut for short, despite him now being a Bay!

I've finally settled on a name for my Snorry dangling wolf... She's Oakley now! I made her a harness today and also a necklace inspired by a natural birch bracelet made by @thylacines-toybox for their Snorry, Birch.
The necklace has oak galls, an antler tip bead, a hazelnut expertly nibbled by one of my late rats, as well as a bunch of recycled beads and some glass claw beads.
