Just a cute little giraffe named George

Meet George the Giraffe. He has been well loved but now his family felt it was time for some rejuvenation:

As you can see, George couldn't hold his head up anymore. He'd lost his ears and horns, and his music box was broken. We agreed on a spa, a new music box, and new ears and horns.

Here's George in his bubble bath. I know, he looks a little suspicious of it:

George actually had internal boning for his legs, so that got straightened and went back in. We had hoped that his music box would say what song it originally played, but it didn't. So I sent his person a list of song options from music boxes I had available:

She chose Brahm's Lullaby, which is probably the most popular, along with Eine Kleine Nachtmusic.

So the music box went in, and so did new stuffing (including denser stuffing to help hold up his neck). And of course George got a heart with a bit of original stuffing:

I had to do a bit of research to find images of George's healthier relations and figure out what his original ears and horns looked like. He's an Eden giraffe, and hand his tag, which helped. Turns out his horns actually had blue tips originally, which I never would have guessed! Here he is all better and ready to fly home:

His person wrote "He looks great!" and so I packed him up and sent him home. Last week in fact. :-) But he was so cute with those blue horns, I couldn't wait to share his story with all of you.

I have a question for yall! Does anyone remember a post where David secretly has a stuffed giraffe plushie that he sleeps with? If not then I propose along with pink hoodie David we as a fandom should do more with secret plushie!

Nothing defines "High Fashion" in 1964 quite like staring wistfully into the middle distance while using a taxidermy-adjacent giraffe as an armrest. This is the peak of the "I’m a sophisticated suburbanite who secretly wants to go on a safari but only if there’s a cocktail hour" aesthetic. The mint-and-white color palette suggests she’s ready to discuss the merits of a new gelatin-based dessert, while her hair has enough structural integrity to survive a small gale or a particularly spirited game of bridge. It’s an oddly serene standoff between a woman and a very confused-looking plush ungulate.

Mr. Reachy Pattern

Please ignore how poor my execution is, I promise the pattern is better than it looks here

Notes:

First of all, did you know that giraffes’ horn thingies are called ossicones? The more you know..

Any unmarked sides on a piece of the pattern either attach to its mirrored piece or wrap around to attach to itself. Hopefully it’s self explanatory which of these is the case. The guide for spots is not really exact and they don’t always line up or look good (especially if you sew like me and approximate everything). If you have access to an actual spotted fabric, I’d use that, provided you also have a solid version of the colour for the nose. For the best results you should use fabrics that don’t fray and don’t stretch too much. The mane/hair bits aren’t included in the pattern. While I used two layers of fringe, I’d recommend using yarn cuz it’ll sit more nicely and look more like the actual hair. If you sew the seams exactly according to the pattern (maybe minus the ossicones and tail), it would hypothetically look really good I swear!!

Mr. Reachy is not really drawn consistently throughout the show, so I kind of tried to average out all of its appearances. I put the mouth on the right side of the face, but it doesn’t really have a consistent position. Mine’s mouth also doesn’t extend onto the front of the face for simplicity’s sake.

(Observe the inconsistencies and validate my interpretation!!!)
