Height and body types as a method of story telling and implications is so fun for a world like the Ground in Gachiakuta.
A lot of people are of an average height and are still skinny, this tells of a society that doesn’t have great access to food and food disparity.
Which makes the characters that are so huge really interesting. On a genetic history level it means their ancestors had consistent access to food with nutrients needed for growth, but it also means for a lot of them they had decent nutrition during their teens years where most of the growth happens.
Which makes me wonder about Enjin’s backstory and upbringing.
Enjin is skinny as shit, but his frame is wide, his arms are rlly long and his hands are fuck off levels of huge compared to the rest of his body. To a degree, these could just be inherited traits he got from his parents, but the idea he was being so consistently fuelled in his past that his body developed the base for what should be a much more filled out and muscular form is intriguing.
Enjin definitely had access to the basics during his development, and that could mean a litany of things. He was being looked after, raised and cared for. He was being raised for a purpose, kept healthy purely for non caring means, he was being raised to be used. He was in investment. He came from a place of considerable excess.
The idea he came from a place of resources assured that he needn’t worry about his next meal, all for it to come crumbling down and now he’s a Giver and a Cleaner and the sort of person that just takes little jaunts into No Man’s Land for no known reason.
The man is fucked up and won’t open up about himself, in my eyes it’s clear something awful happened and that’s why he can reach out a hand to those that need it, he recognises himself in them and remembers he needed help back then, so he’ll give it now.
Idk what this post was supposed to be but just thinking about resources and genetic presentation as a quiet form of storytelling is fun to me haha.
