Ignis/Prompto, 666w (oops!), T“Ignis, what?” Prompto asked, sounding confused, as Ignistook his hands and pulled him aside. They were on the other side ofthe camp, away from Gladio and Noctis, at the edge of the havensprotective runes and somewhat hidden behind the tent. About as muchprivacy as they were going to get, but Ignis couldn’t wait and leavethis until the next time they may be at a motel. It was tooimportant. The moment Noctis had told him, in an irritatedgrouch earlier that day, Ignis had felt awful, appalled at himself, that he’d never noticed the dejected voice Prompto had alwaysanswered him with. It was unthinkable, and yet he’d been saying so,more than once, for weeks now. He wished Noctis would have mentionedsomething sooner. He wished, more so, that he’d never made the stupidremarks in the first place.Pulling in a breath, Ignis lookedPrompto in the eye, and spoke earnestly, hoping to convey just howsincere he was. “Prompto, I must apologise to you. I’vebeen terribly thoughtless and insensitive all this time, but you mustunderstand that it never came from a place of malice. I am so verysorry.”Prompto stared up at Ignis, uncomprehending, andIgnis realised that it had sounded a little like he was babbling, more than anything else. A rare occurrence for a man who liked thingsto be perfectly clear. “What are you talking about?”Ignis hadn’t let go of Prompto’s hands, and Prompto hadn’tseen fit to do so himself. Pulling in another breath, trying to calmthis sudden flare of shame and anxiety within him, Ignis squeezedPrompto’s fingers lightly within his own.“Noctis told meabout your weight issues, when you were younger. Had I known, I wouldnever have said those things to you.” Ignis was used to being curtand to the point, perhaps a little harsh with Noctis at times in along suffering why-don’t-you-just-listen-to-me way, but he wasn’tmean. Now, he felt mean.Prompto’s expression moved first fromconfusion, to surprise, before settling on understanding. “Oh,well,” he started, a little bashfully, dragging the tip of one bootin slow circles over the ground as Ignis looked so intently at him.“It’s okay. I know you didn’t mean it badly or anything.” Ignissqueezed his fingers around Prompto’s again. “Even so, I’m sorry. Ishould never have said so in the first place. I won’t be sothoughtless again.”Prompto looked like he wasn’t quite surewhat to do with Ignis’ sincerity, Ignis knew him well enough by nowto guess what the sudden fidgeting from one leg to another must havemeant. He smiled then, trying to put Prompto back at ease – whatgood was an apology, if it only served to make Prompto feel even moreuncomfortable. “Let me make it up to you.”When Prompto’sgaze caught Ignis’ again, a smile slowly lit up his face.“Anything?”“Within my power to grant you.”Promptodidn’t even have to think before he answered. “That delicious spicycurry you make, every night for a week.”Ignis laughed. “Ofcourse.”“And tomorrow night, no matter what, we stay in ahotel or somewhere?”This time, there was a telltale shinein Prompto’s eyes that Ignis had found himself swiftly growing usedto, an edge to his usual bright smile that had begun to send a shiverthrough Ignis every time it was aimed at him.Clearing histhroat, trying to banish the thoughts that suddenly wanted toencroach on his mind, out of place with the little privacy theycurrently had, Ignis answered, “I think we can arrange that.”Thenext night, alone for the time being in their hotel room, Ignis madesure to prove just how sorry he truly was, with a kiss to everybeautiful mark adorning Prompto’s body, until Prompto was a quiveringmess, gasping Ignis’ name, and being shown, in many ways, how lovedand appreciated he was.
