sad headcanon for lamed?
You have chosen... an angsty headcanon! - So I’ve mentioned before about how I think that Eden was the area that fell into darkness before the rest of the kingdom did. And what’s the area right before Eden? The Vault. Going along with that thought, I think Lamed would have felt the most of the burden of what happened to Eden and the rest of the kingdom, and probably placed the most burden on herself to fix things. Can you imagine having the ruins of the heart of the kingdom in your backyard? Always having that darkness, that memory in sight and in proximity when you’re trying to make sure that same darkness doesn’t reach the rest of your home? (And when Wasteland falls, that leaves Vault in the middle of the TWO darkest areas of the game). Also it’s interesting to note that the Vault of Knowledge is the only level that’s entirely indoors- meaning you have no view of the real sky, stars, or light of the sky. Just the light sources already in the building, and the visions the Vault can create. All of these ideas considered, and going with the other theory that half the Vault tower is destroyed, shows us that all the knowledge in the world couldn’t stop the fall of the kingdom, no matter what Lamed did. In the end she probably fell alone, surrounded by the already fallen Wasteland and Eden, in a dark tower with nothing but the memory of the stars to comfort her at the end.
