ㅤㅤwhy he was back in mondstadt so soon ? really he didn't know . at least this time it was more on official business than a vacation . he presses down against his shoulder, rolling it to stretch out as he looks around the empty meadow .
ㅤㅤat least dealing with a few slimes had taken the edge off .
ㅤㅤhe hated being on job , or at least on a job that didn't have anything fun going on ... but seemingly that was about to change . he senses him before seeing him .
ㅤㅤthe cavalry captain .
ㅤㅤhe could just leave , get back to the city and pretend he didn't see him . their last meeting wasn't exactly pleasant ... but unlike last time he isn't injured . so when the thought to lunge enters his mind there's no hesitation .
ㅤㅤhe steps forward before sprinting , lunging to tackle the captain back onto the ground .
@glacialswordsman , teehee
@glacialswordsman , dad worries.
( ℜ ) CREPUS COULD SEE the boy thinking ( but of what the ragnvindr didn't know , not that it bothered him much ) as he offers up potentially something surprising in how he would be happily cared for. the boy was under his care and had been since he arrived a late stormy eve soaking wet and curiously unable to speak a lick of common. again , nothing he paid mind too as the dawn winery's master minded none.
EYES ARE CARING and soft as he looked down at him , checking the boy over to see where and what was injured and why he was trying to hide it. he pauses to shake his head , a small chuckle leaving the elder man as he raised a hand to carefully ruffle the blunette's hair.
❝ NO NEED TO apologize , son. how about we go inside , get those sweets i promised you and then see where you're hurt. would you mind showing me ahead of time ? ❞ he's already walking with him toward the manor ; unbothered in the slightest.

Well he couldn't disagree with him there. Kaveh was always a bit more sensitive in the elements. Not as bad as Tighnari but pretty close to it. It still does deter him. After a few cups of wine, nothing would. Which is why he spoke so freely and with more honesty to his acquaintance. It wasn't exactly a secret, anyone who hangs around Kaveh would eventually learn, but it was something he would try to keep to himself. Keyword being try. There was a reason why alcohol was often considered a truth serum.
And he was showing the swordsman the reason. “He does! He's praying for my downfall right at this moment I bet!” He said, slamming his cup down. Some of it splashes out, which the architect quickly grabs for a napkin. “He's just waiting so he can rub it in my face like always! Like a stupid dog who can't learn his lesson!”
The table seems to move with each stroke Kaveh makes. His eyes were already coming close to crying as he tried to clean up his mess. “He'll laugh and ask me if I learned my lesson. I'll say no and then he'll laugh and then, and then—!”
And then I'll be alone.

The answer is both simple yet dangerous. Sampo didn't trust other Masked Fools. Their views on Elation were extreme compared to his own. While he was known to break one or two or ten rules for the sake of fun and joy, others didn't believe in having restraint on themselves. Those Fools went too extreme, too radical for the thief to handle. So he posed this question to any he would be forced to interact with. Their mere answer spoke for each Fool, and it hasn't steered him in the wrong direction.
Though all this thought he put into it would remain to himself. Lest someone try to lie to him. So he merely smiled at the Halovian when asked.
Though the response the young man gave… Did not bring good feelings. There were plenty of reasons to cry. Sampo was human after all. He had not escaped the human urge to keep everything in a certain, emotional state. But he knew, in order to laugh, one must cry. Just as one needed to cry to know the joy of laughter.
What salvation Kaeya saw was damnation. Yet he smiled politely as he gave his speech. It was more thoughtful than most others gave. So he'd give him points for that. Still, it made Sampo a bit uneasy with what he just said. This uneasiness would remain only to himself as he kept those feelings hidden for the time being.
“No reason.” He said with his usual, charming voice. “Just a fun what if kind of question. Though I suppose it's a what is kind of question. Point is, brother Kaeya,” Sampo said, twirling a glass in his hand. “It was an entertaining answer. I thank you for your cooperation.”
@glacialswordsman it is time
Penacony, sweet Penacony. not the one he has lived in until he departed for his mission- but, nevertheless, some sort of remembrance from home is here. no matter how much time passes, it's always the same.
the cobalt-haired fellow appears busy, voice soft as it speaks through the phone glued to his ear. he's making his way towards a free stool, the hour late and the customers more smashed from the drinks than awake. when he takes his place on the soft cuscion of the seat, he concludes the phone call with an hint of gratefulness to the stranger at the other side of it. it would be improper to bark an order at the poor bartender as he has seen many unkind people do.
his head is low, busy ending the call and skimming for the messages he has missed, when he orders ' a bushwhacker, if you please, ' with a quiet voice. when a glass is placed in front of him, ready to receive the content of the cocktail, he's already imagining the taste- it has been a while since his last one...
-and then he notices the nervousness permeating the fingers, the stiffness. this is when pale diamond lifts with concern, lips parted to ask ' is everything alri- '
and it meets another diamond, just the same as his. the young bartender, an halovian, is almost a perfect mirror of him.
he doesn't exhale, nor breathes. all the air has been punched out of his chest, recognition making his eyes widen and his expression melt off his face.
Kaeya Alberich is in front of him.
and, suddendly, there's no more human mask of manners and social normalities, no longer the need for a drink, or asking for permission to encroach personal space.
there's just the need to observe, to study the phenomenon that fate put in front of him.
he's no longer in front of the young halovian, but a flat ' interesting. ' comes from approximately behind them. the impostor's face craned near Kaeya, eyelashes pratically brushing together.
' you are Kaeya Alberich, ' he murmurs, singular eye piercing right through the other, seemingly uncaring that his manners are... lacking, to say the least. ' Kaeya Alberich, yes... ' he repeats.
the impostor cocks his head to the side, lost in thought.
' but, if you are Kaeya Alberich... then, who am I? are you a disruption, or an anomaly? or am I? '
@glacialswordsman asked from here:
"Debates are stupid because why would I want to sit down and argue with someone blatantly dumber than me."
❛ Ouch. ❜ His nostrils flare for a half-laugh to breeze through.
Words cannot describe the whiplash that single statement caused. Now, Tartaglia has met vicious tongues before — from silver to poisonous, sharp to mild. He's known hollow praises meant to mellow one out spewed out freely, as he's known the opposite, insults which goal was to solely destabilize and were so disproportionately aggressive they bordered on being a mockery of themselves.
Not everyone manages to look this effortlessly sincere and casual while saying something so degrading, with a smooth delivery.
It's in his eyes, in his face and in how his legs uncross, ease his foot on the floor after having rested comfortably over his knee for the entirety of the meeting. He's intrigued as much as he's baffled.
❛ I've heard the Ordo's Captain and Quartermaster had remarklable skills in regards to reading people, but this seems like a deliberate miscalculation from his part. ❜ The upper half of his body leans closer to the table, arms crossing over the surface. ❛ Shall we try again? ❜
