Gally imagine / the maze runner
glader chats
Hey there, So as some of you know Ive been having exams, hence Ive been using only my tumblr mobile app to log in and post these little things, today I have a break, coz Good Friday and Easter are around the corner so I logged on through my laptop, and I see half the chat posts with the paragraph and bold symbols ?!?!? It seemed fine on my phone, so I’m quite confused, do y’all see a whole chunk of p’s and b’s in brackets? let me know please?
Imagine Newt asking Minho what he thinks of you
Thomas: Just a heads up, Newt thinks you and Y/N might be having a relationship in secret.
Minho: Oh snap, did he find our secret make out spots I found in the maze as well?
Thomas: See this is why the whole problem arises shank, why don't you just tell him straightforwardly that nothing's going on and that he should make a move?
Minho: Fine. Here comes the shank now.
Newt: Minho, you know you're one of my best mates yea? So I expect you to tell me the bloody truth when I ask you this, but is there anything romantic going on between you and Y/N?
Thomas: *looks at Minho*
Minho: *sigh* No, she has eyes only for you Newt.
Newt: Well ha ha, I was being serious you know, you don't have to make a bloody joke about it! *storms off*
Minho: well, I don't know why I still follow your ideas.
Thomas: Hey this one is fully your fault!
Thomas notices Minho having fun annoying you and Newt.
Thomas: Why are you always screwing around with them man?
Minho: Because your relationship status is already pretty screwed up.
Crushing on Newt but accidentally brozoning him
Y/N: You know, we're not alone! We have each other! The Glade is my family!
Minho: Oh yea?
Y/N: Yea! Alby's like my father
Minho: Well he is the boss.
Y/N: Clint is my mother, since you know, he takes care of us when we're sick.
Minho: Alby and Clint? Never saw that coming.
Y/N: Fry pan is like the grandmother! You know, giving us treats when we're hungry.
Minho: Perfect, he even has a nice frilly apron.
Y/N: Gally is the oldest brother who thinks he can boss over all the siblings and Thomas is one of the youngest brothers who's always getting himself into trouble.
Minho: I think Gally would like to cut family ties now.
Y/N: And you're my elder brother too. Always annoying me and snooping around my affairs.
Minho: As your brother I shall defend myself saying I'm just protecting you.
Y/N: And Chuck is my son!
Newt *enters* : And who am I?
Minho:My brother-in-law.
Newt : What?
Y/N *whacks Minho*: H-he said brother. Brotherthat'sall.
Newt: O-okay then *walks off*
Minho: Dude.
Minho: You just bro-zoned him.
Minho: You've been reading too much of that Game of Thrones series.
When I'm Gone part 1
Summary: y/n almost dies, her soul gets attached to Newt’s body for a while Pairings: Newt x Reader
“Alright you two, break it up. I mean it, otherwise both of you will spend the night in the slammer without food” Newt pulled me away from Gally
I was extremely close to punching his face, and the only thing stopping me from doing that was the fact that I didn’t want to spend another night in the slammer.
“Honestly y/n, I’ve told you to ignore that Shank and just finish your work! Why do you always end up arguing with him or some other boy?”
I felt my eyes tearing up, everyone always made it seem like it was my fault. Half the boys here had been complete slintheads towards me because I was the only girl, they were either always looking at me in an inappropriate way, or completely ignoring me because they felt I was a distraction sent by the Creators. The fact that I wasn’t particularly good at any of the jobs didn’t help either, I didn’t mind the gardens but the rats and worms and creepy crawlies would freak me out. I had no particular skill at cooking and just entering the blood house was enough to make me faint. I liked the idea of being a builder but Gally was adamant saying he didn’t need a weak girl injuring herself and distracting the others. Runners wasn’t even an option since I had bad stamina and I wasn’t very a very good medjack because the sught of serious wounds also creeped me out. I was almost made a slopper until Jeff insisted we needed more medjacks and said I would improve and with my delicate fingers I could prove useful.
The only few who were nice to me were Chuck, Minho, Thomas, Jeff, and Newt. Thomas and Minho were always in the maze or the map room and Newt was always working during the day and with Minho and Thomas in the map room at night. Life in the glade sucked. It hadn’t been so bad initially when Newt had been there to help me around and I saw more of Thomas and Minho, but now for some reason I felt Newt had been trying to keep his interactions with me limited, and that really hurt me. Now here I was, at the centre of a crowd because of some commotion that was apparently my fault but in reality I had just stood up for Chuck when I saw some guys picking on him. Gally then had to intervene and say some nasty things about me and Chuck which really ticked me off.
“Why do you say it like its always my fault?” I sniffed
“That’s not the point y/n ”
“Oh but it is!” I snapped “I’ve been thrown into the slammer three times already the past week for something that was not my fault! I was the bloody victim there, but yet I was punished!”
“What is going on here? Newt? y/n? Gally?”
Newt sighed “It’s nothing Alby, y/n calm down and just leave”
His tone angered me even more “No, why should I calm down Newt? I’m always harassed, for no bugging reason apart from the fact that I don’t have a stick between my thighs! And you know what? I thought I could somehow stand living here as long as I had you with me, but I guess you just decided I had cooties and started avoiding me as well!” Newt’s eyes widened as I yelled all this at him and his expression seemed to soften but I was too angry and hurt to give a damn, so I ran into the deadheads ignoring Alby and Chuck’s calls.
I slumped against my favourite tree and started crying silently to myself. It wasn’t because of Gally, but more of the sadness of the past month finally breaking me. I tried to be as soft as I could because I didnt want to be found by the others and seem vulnerable. Just then I heard the bushes rustle. I looked behind to see Ben looking creepier than ever. I tried to hide from him, but his wild eyes found me.
He started moving towards me in an unsteady manner and I realised something was wrong. I started running but then he started too. He opened his mouth and let out a strangled cry and I screeched. I ran as fast as I could but him being a runner quickly caught up with me and tackled me to the ground. I kicked him in the groin and pushed him off me but he pulled my hair and climbed on top of me again. I started trembling in fear, my voice was caught in my throat I couldn’t say a word. I heard a familiar voice call out my name and I turned to see who it was, but before I could I felt something hard hit my head and then all I saw was darkness.
“Clint, is she going to be alright?"
” I don’t know Newt, there was a lot of bleeding. She’s still breathing but she hasn’t woken up yet.“
” God y/n please please wake up “
Y/n? That’s me! I opened my eyes to see my own body lying on the bed?!? There were bandages wrapped around my head and tiny bruises across my arms and legs. ” What the hell is happening?“ no one seemed to hear me though. I couldn’t move either, I felt like I had no hands or legs. “Let me know if you see even the slightest change” wait, that was Newt’s voice, and it seemed to come out from my body “sure thing Newt” I saw Clint standing in front of me with bandages and blood on his hand. What was happening? What was going on? Why could I seem my body? Was I dead? Maybe I was dead, and maybe I could finally leave this horrible place and people who hate me, but wait, I couldn’t move me soul either. I looked into the mirror and gasped. I saw Newt’s reflection. I was stuck in Newt’s body.
“Newt, can you hear me?” I tried talking to him, but it didn’t work. He didn’t seem to notice.
“Newt you should let me look at you now.”
“No, that’s alright I’m fine ”
“No you’re not, I saw Ben hit you on your ankle with that rock when you fought him off y/n ” Wait what? Newt tried to save me? Newt got injured trying to save me?
“ Well not like it bloody helped. I was too late to save her, and now it’s all my fault she’s like this, I’m such a bloody slint head ”
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, Newt was actually sad about me, he was sorry! Maybe he still cared about me!
“She’ll wake up Newt. She’s a strong stubborn girl. I know she’ll come back to us. Maybe she’s just taking her time off, away from us. She’ll wake up when she’s ready”
I never thought of Clint as one of the wisest people in the Glade but, somehow I had the feeling he was completely right.
A/N:Hope y'all liked it so far! read part2!

You waited by the Maze doors like you did everyday. You waited for your boyfriend Minho, who you’d been with for a little over a year. You were happy with him, and everything seemed just a little bit easier to bear with him around.
You heard his pounding footsteps that echoed throughout the Maze corridor and waited with a smile for him to exit. He glanced at you, with annoyance almost, and kept running forward. Odd, he usually stopped to greet you.
You follow after him to the map room. You weren’t allowed to enter, but you could still stand at the doorway.
“Hey, Minho. How was running today?” you ask with genuine interest. You always did like hearing about the Maze. It interested you.
“Fine, as always,” he says and takes a drink of water. He stops, mid-swallow and narrows his eyes at you. “You know,” he mutters and takes another drink of water. “I’m getting a little tired of this.”
You furrow your eyebrows and lean on the doorframe. “Tired of what?”
“You, this relationship. If you can even call it that.”
The air leaves your lungs and you stare at him with narrowed eyes. “You’re tired of me? What about me?”
“You, Y/N! Just everything about you. It just gets a little boring after a while.”
You stand upright and you let out a laugh in disbelief. “So what, you’re calling me not good enough for you?”
Minho pauses and shrugs with a nod. “Yeah.”
You shake your head. “Right, well, I guess I’ll call you single from now on then. Bye, shuck face.”
You push yourself off of the doorframe and walk out of the Deadheads with a hurting heart. Not good enough, you huff. Was he serious? You kept walking and when he didn’t come after you, you knew he was.
You storm out of the Deadheads with an angry lead. You knew that the anger was just your primary defense for now, before your entire world came crashing down.
Newt spotted you and squinted, seeing that something was off. He watched you storm over to the Builders where you worked, and wondered what had happened. He watched you follow Minho into the Deadheads, but only you came out which was odd.
You immediately began sawing at a plank of wood and Gally walked over to you. “What happened, shank?”
You glance up to him and keep sawing. “I broke up with Minho,” you say simply, pretending the words didn’t prick at your heart. You felt so betrayed by him. What had you done to deserve that from him?
“Broke up? Well, are you alright?”
You stop sawing at the nearly mutilated piece of wood and stand to face him. “Yeah, Gally. I’m completely fine. You think I’m going to let that slinthead get to me?” you ask and force a laugh. You felt bad for lying but you didn’t want to appear weak to the other boys. The last thing you needed from them was an image of you that made you less than they were.
“Good that,” Gally nodded and went back to work. You appreciated the check-up from him, but it wasn’t necessary.
After an entire day's worth of work, you were almost relieved that it was dinner time, until you remembered that Minho would be there. Usually sitting together, you didn’t know what you were going to do.
Apparently Newt had heard the news about you and Minho somehow, and he called you over to sit with him. He must’ve realized what an awkward situation you were in and invited you to sit with him. You were grateful, to say the least.
You slid in next to Chuck and Newt, confident. “How was your guy’s days?” you ask.
Newt gives you a side glance that you catch but don’t return. Chuck perks up at the opportunity to speak. “It was great! I didn’t have to wash the Runners clothes again,” he laughs, releived.
You smile at him and play with one of his bouncy curls. “That’s great, Chuck! I wouldn’t want to clean those either,” you laugh. “Too gross, don’t you think?”
Chuck nods and gives you a happy smile. You always were the one to talk to him like anyone else, not be annoyed by his presence.
Newt nudges your arm, clearly worried. You let Chucks curly hair fall out of your fingers and turn to face Newt. You knew he was worried but what were you supposed to say? ‘Minho broke up with me but I’m too embarrassed to tell anyone that I’m hurting’?
“Hey, you alright?” he asks with genuine concern. You shrug and nod.
“Yeah, I just have to live with it right?” you say simply, as if it didn’t bother you at all that the only boyfriend you could remember having, had said you weren’t good enough.
“You know, you don’t have to act like everything’s fine if it isn’t, Y/N,” Newt said knowingly.
“Newt,” you say gently. “I’m okay.” It was a complete lie. You were the total opposite of okay.

After dinner, most of the Gladers started heading to bed and you were relieved that Minho hadn’t shown up at dinner. You didn’t know how you’d handle that. Probably yell at him, if you were being honest.
You went up to your room and sat on the edge of your bed in the dark. This was a dangerous time, where no one was there for you to act in front of. It was just you and your thoughts now. You tried to keep everything in, building a mental dam where you stored all your hurt, confusion, and anger at Minho. But like all dams, they have to let something out or they’d burst.
When the first tear rolled down your cheek, you didn’t realize you were crying. But then there were more, and more and more. You felt every throb your heart made and every wail you suppressed. You clutched at your heart, as if you could hold the pieces together. It wasn’t fair. You’d tried to be the best you could, and in the end, Minho had crushed every sense of confidence you had, making you reconstruct the pieces of yourself. And where was he? Probably fast asleep while you sat in the dark crying!
The door to your room opened after a soft knock echoed throughout your room. You sucked in a deep breath and looked up to see who it was. Newt.
You hurriedly wiped away the tears on your cheeks and Newt sat next to you on the mattress. He didn’t say anything at first, didn’t call you out on every tear that passed your eyes, didn’t laugh at you. Why would he?
“I’m s-sorry,” you whisper and dry your eyes. “I really am fine,” you chuckle bitterly. “Just stubbed my toe.”
Newt shook his head. “Stop it, Y/N. It’s alright if you're not okay. You don’t have to be strong all the time.”
You stared into his knowing eyes and you shook your head. “I just didn’t want to be weak.”
Newt frowned. “You’re not weak. You think crying because you're hurt makes you weak?” you stare at your feet for a moment but don’t answer. “It doesn’t,” Newt whispers.
“Thank you, Newt,” you say quietly, knowing you couldn’t speak any louder without your voice cracking.
“C'mere,” Newt sighs and wraps his arms around you. You lean into him and rest your head on his shoulder. You sniffle and feel Newt's head lie on top of yours.
“I know it’s going to take some time to heal, ” Newt spoke slowly. “But I’m here for you, yeah? And I always will be. So don’t ever feel like you have to hide what you’re feeling, because you don’t. Anyone who thinks you’re weak from showing actual emotion will get an earful from me, got it?”
You laugh quietly and nod. “Can I watch that?”
“‘Course you can. I’ll make sure you have front row seats.” You could hear the smile in Newt's voice and it made one appear on your lips too.
“Good that,” you chuckle.
“So,” Newt spoke up after a moment and released you. You sat up straight to look at him. “Are you hungry? Because I know where Frypan hides the key to the kitchen.”
You give him a funny look. “Newt we just ate like an hour ago.”
“So?” he asked with a goofy smile.
You think for a moment. “Let's go.”

“Hey Frypan!” you greet him with a wide smile. He raises an eyebrow at you.
“…Yes?” He continues scrubbing at a fork as he listens to you.
“Well I just really love your food and-” you’re cut off abruptly by his loud laughter.
“You love my food? My food?” He stops laughing long enough to take a breath. “Ah, what do you want, Y/N?”
Shoot. He was on to you. You take in air and hope for the best.
“T-Teresa and I were wondering if you had any chocolate left? We’re doing a girls-nighty kinda sleepover thing. And come on, everyone knows girls love chocolate.”
“A girls-nighty kinda sleepover thing?” He repeats. He puts down the now shiny fork and leans on the counter.
You bounce anxiously. “Yeah…So, do you have any?”
You bite your bottom lip and he stands upright and gives a low chuckle. “I always did like you girls better than the guys. At least you smell better.”
He turns around and heads into the back of his kitchen in search of chocolate, you hope.
“Also,” you add. now remembering. “Any snacks you could provide would be appreciated..?” You knew you were pushing your luck but why not go for it? Frypan was a good enough friend…right?
You hear him shuffling things around on the food racks and you wait patiently, lightly drumming your fingers on the countertop. He comes back with a basket of food.
Your eyes light up and you grin at him as you take the basket from him. “Ah! Thank you! I’ll make sure to slip in a word with Alby to get you some new utensils.”
He laughs lightly again and you bounce off back to Teresa’s room to tell her the good news. Once you enter her room you stop immediately, mid-step. Teresa was upside down on her bed, hanging off the edge so her hair dangled and brushed the floor.
“Oooh! Did you get the food?” She turns around so she’s on her stomach but then loses her balance and falls off the bed.
You shake your head at her and walk over to the desk. “Yes I did, Frypan was really nice about it,” you pause. “He said we smell better.”
“Really? Huh.” Teresa heads over to you and goes through the basket to see what Frypan gave you. While she does that, you begin setting up a space on the floor with blankets for you both to sit.
As you lay a second blanket down Teresa gives a surprised laugh. “Look! He gave us some of Gallys drink. I guess he thought it was going to be a crazy night for us.”
You shake your head. “Ick, no way am I drinking that.”
She sets it down on the table and continues searching through through it. Outside you both hear the familiar sound of the Maze walls closing for the night. As if on cue, a knock on the door sounds.
Teresa was too busy going through the basket so you get up to open it. As soon as you open the door someone pecks you on the cheek swiftly.
Minho. Your boyfriend of a year. You smile at him and he asks to come in. You turn to look at Teresa, giving her a pained expression, begging her with your eyes. She mouths the word “NO” and shakes her head. You dreadfully turn back to Minho.
“Teresa and I are doing a girls night thing…no boyfriends.”
Minho purses his lips. “Hmm…We’ll see.”
Then he bounds off before you can ask him anything.
“Alright then,” Teresa says. You sit down with her on the blanket and talk for a little bit as the sun goes down the rest of the way, darkening the room.
“Should we go get a torch?” you question Teresa. She nods and stands, offering you a hand to help you do the same. You take it.
Once you’re down to the Glade, it’s dark enough that torches can be spotted easily. You both go up to Alby and he lets you take the torch that lit up the space around the hammocks. All the Gladers were asleep now anyways. Once you’re gone, Alby lies down in his hammock and the Glade is silent.
You and Teresa hurry back to your room silently, as not to wake the other boys. Once you enter your room you flop down on the bed as she sets up the torch. Then she comes to sit next to you.
You sit up on the bed to give her room. “So,” you start.
You’re about to ask her a question when you see something move. Someone was in the room with you. In the closet, to be precise.
You glance at the crack between the floor and closet door to see Minhos shoes. And…Thomas’s. What were the two shuck heads doing in here?
“How was your day?” You ask a now confused Teresa as you motion down at the boys shoes. She finally catches on and grins.
“Oh my day was great. Worked with the med-jacks and got to see Thomas for a bit.”
“That’s good! My day was pretty good too. Wish I could’ve seen Minho more…” You stand up slowly, continuing the conversation with Teresa as you both walked over to the closet.
“Yeah,” Teresa says as she puts her hand on the door knob. “What would we do without our BOYFRIENDS?” Teresa yanks open the closet door as she says the last word.
Minho and Thomas stare up at you with regretful and surprised eyes.
“W-we uh,” Thomas stutters. You fold your arms, waiting.
“Our hammocks. Yeah they weren’t very comfy…?” Minho says as if seeing if you believe it.
“Mhmm,” you say and hold out a hand. He sighs and takes it and you help him up from his crouched position. Teresa helps Thomas.
Teresa sighs. “Now what? You can’t go back down there; you broke curfew and Alby will be mad.”
“Guess we have to stay with you then,” Minho says and flops down on the bed. Thomas chuckles.
“You slintheads,” you sigh.
As you and Teresa stare at each other, curled up in Thomas’s and Minho’s arms now, you both have the same thought.
This is not what you had planned.
