Seven years ago (well, a little over that, by now), I jumped headfirst into a big commitment I didn’t really expect would be so impossibly exhausting and difficult to handle. For seven years I’ve felt like Sisyphus pushing his boulder to no avail. Over and over I had to do it, because that was what I’d chosen and it was my burden and no matter how many happy promises existed behind the fulfillment of my accursed duty, I knew I wouldn’t be able to reach them until I pulled through with the worst of the challenges I’d brought upon myself.
... And now, seven years in the making, I find myself completely perplexed by the strange sensation of having not only overcome my challenge, but of not wanting to let go of it yet. Here I thought, when the day came, I wouldn’t want to push the boulder ever again and I’d rejoice... but I suppose, in a way, the boulder grounds you. It gives you a sense of purpose, even of security and safety and knowledge that you have one archenemy to fight still...!
But be that as it may, I’ve finally pushed the boulder all the way through, for good, and never did I imagine I’d actually feel nostalgic about updating the goddamn, thrice-accursed, never-ending, nerve-wrecking, eternally-unfinished Gladiator Ranking for the last time.
I was just looking at the Gladiator Rankings (it's so cool that you have that btw) and there are two waterbenders on it?!?! I'm really curious about them now- are we ever going to see them in the story? or if not is there any backstory about who they are and how they got into the Gladiator League?
It makes me happy that people appreciate the ranking :’D I admit I could have handled a lot about the ranking better than I have, but with how rushed and clumsy I was when I started out in this venture, I didn’t think to save every iteration of the ranking. Therefore, we only get the one that matches the latest update where the ranking has been mentioned... clumsy indeed, but at least it still works for people like you xD and, naturally, it works for me in terms of writing the story, which is the main reason I started to do it.
So! About the waterbenders... one of them is a gladiator that was suggested by a reader. Sadly, Snapdragon won’t have a starring role in the story (at most, she may show up as a background character in Part 3, presumably, but I won’t explain how...), but the reader crafted Snapdragon as a waterbender from the Foggy-Bottom Swamp. From the description, Snapdragon is a clever waterbender who relies on drawing water out of plants for her bending. She even uses plants as her armor, a pretty interesting concept. She appears to be a slave, but the reader didn’t offer much of an explanation on how Snapdragon wound up as a slave... still, concept-wise, Snapdragon is a pretty cool gladiator and if I get to use her at least once, I’ll be pretty happy.
As for the Mist... yes, we will see her in the story. And since that’s all part of the plot of the upcoming Whaletail Island arc, I don’t think I should be giving away much information on this particular fighter just yet :’D *wink wink nudge nudge* you’ll learn more about the Mist pretty soon!

Yeah, you and me both, Anon ^^U I’ll make a post when it’s updated, but the ranking won’t come up in the story until after the next arc is done… I have a couple of chapters to go, but once I’m done writing them I’ll have to update it. So yeah… I guess the big update won’t take too long to happen.
