Two weeks ago we celebrated my mom’s birthday and as a family we love to eat. Trying out new restaurants is our way of bonding as a family and our curiosity has brought us to the most (and sometimes not) tasty finds in the metro and for this food trip we dined at a place called, Clean Plate by Twist. Located in U.P Town Center, Katipunan, the whole look of the resto definitely screams “healthy food” and the shabby chic inspiration is really smart. You should see their variety of plates and drinking glasses as they don’t have uniformed designs and each plate has a special shape which goes well with the restaurant’s theme.
The menu may also fascinate you with some interesting food offerings like, “Inadobong Kale & Basella” (click here to learn more about Adobo), “Bacon Lechon Kawali” and a soup called “Monggo + Chichashroom” (organic munggo beans + homemade mushroom crackers) much as we’d love to order these familiar meat selections, I was keen on trying out something adventurous like their OMG! burger where OMG stands for Oh My Gulay (Oh My Vegetable) I can’t say no to this catchy name!
OMG! Burger- organic zucchini + mushroom + chickpea + aioli + multigrain brioche
It was my first time to eat a meatless burger and it was really good! I also liked the idea of having 3 kinds of dips to go with it. One thing I would love for them to improve though is the vegetable serving, well it’s meant to just be a side salad but, I think it’ll be more sulit (worth it) if there were more veggies on the side :) this burger doesn’t taste like veggie at all, even my brother who doesn’t eat vegetables says that it was good! it’s really a must-try for those who are trying to go healthy from time to time, trust me it’s worth it!
Another burger we had, which my brother ordered was the “Grass-Fed Burger Your Way” (no photo, sorry). All I can say is if you’re used to eating meat bought from the supermarket and you taste this grass-fed meat for the first time, you’re definitely going to say that grass-fed meat is soooo much better! one thing my mom and I observed was that eating grass-fed, organic grown food doesn’t give you the “bloated” feeling after eating, it’s like knowing that what you just ate was real and chemical-free ad “real” :)
The rice meals were also tasty, below are photos of their Lengua (USDA ox tongue + organic mushroom blend + cashew crème + goat’s milk crème) and Beef Sukiyaki with Kimchi Rice *I forgot what’s it called* but it’s thinly sliced beef served on top of rice cooked in kimchi plus one sunny-side-up egg.
Dining at Clean Plate was a great experience for our family and we’re definitely going back. If you’re into the healthy lifestyle or just plain curious to try out fresh gourmet finds, then check out Clean Plate. If ever you dine in, make sure to also grab some of their healthy cooking condiments and spices such as coco sugar, natural honey and supplements too! it’s really a one-stop place for foodies :)
