pilot (01x01) — “rehab”
Here is my recap of this weeks episode of ATWYRM podcast. Sorry this is a bit late.
Kevin and Jenna recap the pilot episode.
Cory couldn’t rehearse with the rest of the cast because he was waiting for a week visa.
Kevin instinctually hated Cory because he played the villain on Kyle XY.
What happens when Cory comes? Kevin, Jenna, Amber, and Chris had bonded. They ended up becoming fast friends with Cory.
Lea also joined them late. The four reheated together for a bit before Lea joined them and last was Cory.
Glee was one is the last shows to be filmed on actual film.
Figgin’s couch was Darren’s couch. Thanks for the reminder Kevin. Jenna said she slept on it too.
Schue was shirtless in under 5 minutes.
New Directions = Nude Erections. It’s a pun. How do people not know this? Is my mind just really dirty?
Jenna and Ian came up with Tina’s last name when they filmed Tina signing the sign up list for glee club.
The auditions were supposed to be at the end of the shoot. Jenna hadn’t rehearsed Tina’s original audition song. Tina’s character changed and so did the song.
Jenna was panicking because she wants prepared. Amber was calm and cool. Chris just disappeared.
The auditions were performed live.
Everyone was floored when they got to hear each other sing for the first time. They are all so different.
Has Ryan every had a slushee? Has he ever stepped foot into a 7-11?
Jenna talked about Glee’s continuity problems.
Everyone was very similar to their characters.
The scene before Rachel’s first storm out everyone kept laughing and got in trouble.
Ryan loves making jokes about bed bath and beyond. Has he ever been on a bed bath and beyond? Jenna and Kevin are making a list of questions to ask Ryan.
The scene with Emma stepping in gum is just cute.
Grey’s Anatomy joke in the first episode and now Harry is on it.
Is it the scene of Mr. Shue watching Finn in the locker room creepy or good?
Mr. Shue blackmailing Finn was the first scene shot for glee.
Kevin loved the show after reading the script because it was dark and funny.
Talked about all the fun posters in Mr. Shue’s office.
Last day of filming was when they watched Vocal Adrenaline.
Diana was the last person to be cast on the show.
The networks wouldn’t approve anyone for the role of Quinn.
Jenna laughed through the whole pilot.
They learned the choreography for the vocal adrenaline number.
New Directions is 95% heart.
Jenna actually cried during the scene where Mr. Shue told the students he was quitting.
The porta potty scene was the first scene that Kevin shot.
Cory laughed when Kevin told him about not liking him because of Kyle XY.
Don’t Stop follows Kevin and Jenna everywhere.
Everyone got in trouble for doing dirty dance moves during Mr. Shue’s coverage of Don’t Stop. They never messed around again when Ryan directed.
The pilots still got it.

the part of kurt was written in specifically for chris, replacing a character called rajeesh who would have been a love interest of mercedes jones.
the song kurt auditioned for glee club with (mr cellophane) is the song chris auditioned for the show with.
chris hurt his arm when filming the dumpster toss.
kurt was the first character on the show to be identified by name.
chris was eighteen when he auditioned, making him the youngest cast member at the time.
kurt was the first (and only, at the time) openly gay character on glee.
chris had no professional experience before glee.
the character of kurt was named after kurt von trapp from the sound of music, who chris had played before.
the last name hummel comes from the hummel collector dolls with rosy cheeks.
“hi, i’m kurt hummel and i’ll be singing mr cellophane.”
