To watch a sunrise || Solo Para

Who: Tobias St. James

Where: The Olivine Light House

When: Very early morning 11-10-2013

Notes: Tobias catches a Munna

Tobias had loved the weeks he had spend in Goldenrod but going to Olivine had been one of the best decisions. He had had a few things he had to do for his parents but now it felt like an holiday and waking up early Tobias thought it would be a good idea to take a look inside the old lighthouse and maybe, if it was safe enough, watch the sunrise from the top. After dressing he had to decide on a Pokemon he would take for a walk. While some people decided to take all of his Pokemon with him Tobias thought it scared other Pokemon away and it became easy to lose one of your Pokemon. It would be way too much to handle if you asked him.

  In the end he decided to take Aegon with him. His Nidoran who would somewhere in the future evolve into a majestic Nidoking but now was a little cute pink dot. The little Pokemon was happy to see him again and Tobias felt a little bad for not paying as much attention to him as he did to

Blaze and Amelia.

  Taking the short walk he made sure that he kept Aegon close hoping that he wouldn't get distracted by his new surroundings of Olivine and walk away. It would be horrible if he had to look for one of his Pokemon when  it was still dark outside and it would ruin his morning even before it started.

  Arriving at the lighthouse Tobias seems to be hearing sometimes and he felt a shiver creeping down his spine quickly. While he liked Ghost Pokemon and would really like the possibility to befriend one he didn't 'really like the idea of meeting one this early in the morning with only a Nidoran to protect him if things went wrong it would feel way better if he could take one of his more aggressive and trained Pokemon with him.

  Walking further inside the building he looked around seeing the shadows the old crap that was in the light house. Tobias hadn't expected it to be this deserted and this old but when he turned around he saw that Aegon was focusing on a lamp in the corner. "Well let's take a look then." Tobias said walking towards the lamp quickly followed by Aegon. Quickly he notice that in the dark something Pink was hiding behind it.

  "Well hello there" Tobias said now noticing that it was a Munna and not ghost Pokemon. "What are you doing here? Not hiding from me I hope?" Tobias said while the Munna seemed to be shivering and slowly floating down further in the corner, probably not noticing that it was trapping itself. When it was almost at the floor it noticed Aegon and it seemed to calm a little bit seeing another Pokemon. Tobias took a step back thinking that it was the best idea to first let the Munna befriend one of his Pokemon before trying to take it with him.

  It didn't take that long when Aegon and Munna bonded and Munna calmed down.  Tobias got on his knees trying not to intimidate the small Pokemon. "Wanna watch the sunrisewith me?" Tobias asked before turning around smiling because he was sure that both of the Pokemon would follow him to the front of the lighthouse since it would be way to dangerous to climb to the top of the lighthouse.

  Sitting down he saw that the Munna had followed him and he quickly got a treat out of his pocket feeding it to the Munna, knowing that it was slowly gaining the trust of the new Pokemon. Tobias was happy when the sunrise was finally over. He was getting way to curious if the Munna would accept the Pokeball. Tobias got the last Pokeball he had at the moment and showed it to the Munna who quickly drifted towards hit. "So you really want to go with me huh?" Tobias said smiling letting the little one in. "Welcome to the team little one." Tobias said smiling.

Light Up the World || Solo Para

Characters: Tina Cohen-Chang

Location: East of Olivine

Date: Early evening, October 11

Notes: Tina takes her ghost Pokemon out for a play date, where they make a new friend.

Ever since her capture of Bohr the Misdreavus, Tina had been frequenting the route to the east of Olivine, taking the pesky ghost back in the direction where she had found him. She wasn’t sure what it was about him, but Bohr seemed to enjoy the path more than any other place she took him, and it was in those moments, outside of town, that she bonded most with her new ghost Pokemon.

She also enjoyed watching the way he interacted with her other ghost Pokemon. She had left Darwin and Franklin and Schrodinger behind in town for the day, letting them get up to their own mischief (which, knowing them, meant merely napping curled up next to each other in Tina’s bed) while she had a day of bonding with Reichenbach, Bohr, and Curie.

Most people probably found it odd that Tina felt most comfortable surrounded by ghost Pokemon, but something about them had always made her feel most at ease. Perhaps it was her tendency to close herself off from the rest of the world, or perhaps it was just the fact that they could still be so happy and alive despite the fact that their existence seemed so sad…

Or perhaps it was just how adorable they were playing tag and cackling, popping in and out of visibility as they chased each other around a darkened clearing as the sun sun below the trees.

Tina sat down on a log, crossing her legs, leaning back, and watching the sight, and would have been content to watch the white orbs of their eyes long into the night hours if it hadn’t been for the appearance of another light.

The eerie glow in the corner of her eye reminded her of the blaze she had lit in Azalea town, and it initially made her feel unsettled and jumpy. However, when she twirled her head to the right, she saw that the tiny flame seemed to be hovering in the distance, and she didn’t smell the familiar scent of scorched wood, nor did she hear the crackles of branches on fire in the forest.

Satisfied that the trees around her weren’t about to go up in flames and trap her in a burning circle of trees, she pushed off of her seat, walking tentatively in the direction of the flame. As she approached, though, she noticed the shining orbs of her Pokemons’ eyes, saw them appearing and disappearing in turn around the source of the flame.

They were playing with something, which made Tina realize there must be some sort of fire Pokemon causing the disturbance in the darkness. And if her ghost Pokemon were so excited to make the acquaintance of the new Pokemon…

Tina crept closer and found that she was right. There in the clearing was a Litwick.

Tina’s face broke into a smile as she realized that the Pokemon she had been searching for since she had first landed in Ecruteak upon her arrival in Johto months ago was standing here in front of her now, and that the Litwick already seemed to have befriended her Pokemon. She had a feeling that this would be her easiest catch to date.

She recalled Reichenbach first, and the Litwick let out an angry huff as his new friend disappeared from his view. Tina took a step closer, as did the Litwick, inspecting her actions curiously as she took out a second Pokeball and recalled Bohr. Now that she was alone with the Litwick and with Curie, she could tell that the small fire/ghost Pokemon was more interested in following them than he was in staying alone in the clearing, and Tina planned to use that to her advantage as she recalled Curie as well.

The Litwick looked up at her, an expression resembling a pout on its face, as she pulled out a fourth and final Pokeball. This one, however, was not currently home to any of the members of her team, and the Litwick seemed to understand as she opened it, preparing himself to be enclosed in the flash of light so that he could join her team and become a permanent acquaintance of his new friends.

Tina smiled happily as the ball closed, deciding to immediately stop at the Pokemon Center on her way back to her room so that she could fetch Kelvin, her brand new Litwick, and make friends with him just as her team had already done.

Misdreavus Managed || Solo Para

Characters: Tina Cohen-Chang

Location: East of Olivine

Date: Late afternoon, September 20

Notes: While wandering with Reichenbach, Tina encounters a naughty Misdreavus.

It was a lovely day for walking through the streets of Olivine and heading out towards the open land just east of town – but then, if you asked Tina, every day spent in Olivine had been lovely. Maybe it was the relief of being so far removed from Azalea, maybe it was the sound of waves lapping at the shore, or maybe it was the scent of fresh air and wide open-ocean. Whatever it was, she certainly wasn’t complaining, and for Tina that was really a rare occurrence.

The peace and quiet of the day didn’t seem destined to laugh as clouds rolled into the sky while Tina was on the outskirts of town. She turned to Reichenbach, raising an eyebrow at the Drifloon to see what she thought of the weather, but the ghost was unphased by the rolling thunder in the distance, and Tina continued her stroll, even as shadows cast across the path.

As Tina pushed forward, she didn’t notice the way Reichenbach bristled, as if there was another presence nearby. The whipping wind of an incoming afternoon storm kept her from hearing the mischievous giggle nearby. She managed to miss all signs of something else alive being nearby until she rounded a corner and was – quite literally – hit in the face with the creature.

Tina’s mouth fell open and a scream was bubbling in the back of her throat when she heard the Pokemon giggle, and she registered what it was. A Misdreavus. She was face to face with a Misdreavus. This wasn’t a bug, it wasn’t anything large and scary – it was a ghost. And unlike most people, after having spent so much time with Curie and now with Reichenbach, Tina found that thought to be insanely comforting.

Before Tina could say or do anything, though, the Pokemon had stuck it’s tongue out at her, bobbing back and forth around her shoulders, floating past so rapidly that Tina had to turn her head this way and that at a quick pace to keep her eyes on the Pokemon. It seemed to be sticking it’s tongue out at Reichenbach then hiding behind the Drifloon’s trainer in turn, taunting her.

“You seem quite troublesome,” Tina stated, a mixture of amusement and disgruntledness in her voice as the Misdreavus licked her face. The researcher wrinkled her nose at her, but didn’t back away – merely took out a handkerchief, wiped her face down, and watched warily as the Pokemon attempted to open  up her backpack.

“No, you can’t do that!” she scolded, but couldn’t help but laugh as the ghost widened its eyes at  her pleadingly. “No!” she repeated firmly, rolling her eyes as the Pokemon made for the backpack once more. “Not unless you plan on getting out a Pokeball to catch yourself with,” she added scathingly.

The Misdreavus floated back into her line of vision, an almost smirk on its face, and the next thing Tina knew, she was being hit in the face by a levitating Pokeball.

“Oh very funny,” she muttered darkly, rubbing her forehead and grimacing in pain. That was probably going to leave a bruise. But the Misdreavus didn’t seem to be going anywhere – she was just floating in front of Tina, giggling along with Reichenbach as the dark-haired girl knelt down and picked up the Pokeball at her feet. She would show the Pokemon who got the last laugh.

“Reichenbach, use hex!” Tina commanded, watching as the Drifloon stopped mid-laugh to bombard the other Pokemon with an attack. While the Misdreavus was caught unaware and flailing, Tina tossed the Pokeball right back at her, watching as it opened with a burst of light and then closed around the ghost. It shook once, twice, three times before falling still, capturing the Pokemon and adding it to Tina’s team.

Unwanted Catch || Solo Para

Who: Tobias St. James, Amelia the Aron, An angry Beedrill

Location: The National Park

Date: 15 September

Notes: Tobias is waiting for the Dragonite to take him to Olivine when an angry Beedrill unleashes his anger at Tobias

It was still early but Tobias had made sure a Dragonite would pick him up soon. He only had to wait for a couple of more minutes in the National Park. While taking a seat on one of the benches in the park he looked around noticing the toddlers playing with each other and a few bug catchers walking around the park looking for some bugs. Tobias still didn't really understand why some of these guys and girls still used nets while all of them also had Pokemon. It seemed a little pathetic if you asked him. Somewhere on the other side of the park he heard some guy screaming through a megaphone about the but catching contest held in the national park.

After maybe a minute he realized the loud humming of a couple of Beedrill somewhere behind him. Tobias was a little concerned. While Beedrill weren't that peaceful Pokemon by nature already all of the business inside the park. But Tobias also knew that there was no reason for a Beedrill to randomly attack a guy who would be sitting on the bench. It would probably be more likely they would go after one of those people in the park who were being really loud.

It was only when Tobias turned around to look at the spot where the humming was coming from to realize that he had been wrong.  A probably really annoyed Beedrill was swarming just behind he bench he was sitting on, the Beedrill's eyes focused on him. "This isn't really my day, isn't it?" Tobias muttered under his breath. Slowly he moved his hand towards one of his pokeballs trying not to upset the Beedrill anymore. But just after his hand got grip of one of the balls the Beedrill started to move towards him. Tobias jumped up and started to run, hoping that he would create some space between him and the Beedrill.

After running away for a couple of seconds he decided that it was time to open the Pokeball and see which of his Pokemon would pop out. When Amelia appeared Tobias screamed "Amelia, Metal Claw on that Beedrill! Quick." before he stopped to run and Amelia started to attack the Beedrill.

It wasn't difficult to see that Amelia wasn't powerfull enough to take down the Beedrill on her own but all of his other Pokeballs were still next to his suitcase.  Now use Iron Head! He said before searching his pockets hoping that something useful would be inside of it.

Tobias sighed when the only thing he found was an empty Pokeball. "So be it.." he muttered under his breath not really feeling to catch a Beedrill. He threw the Pokeball and he saw the angry Beedrill disappear into the ball. It shacked once..... twice.... and then it was still. The danger of the angry Pokemon going after him, or any of the other visitors of the park, was over but Tobias was now stuck with a Beedrill. "I think I'm going to call you... Dart." not really interested in the Pokemon he had to catch.

While walking back to the suitcase he saw one of his company's Dragonite's flying down. "Goodbye Goldenrod" he said smiling, almost forgetting about his newest catch.

Lullaby || Solo Para

Characters: Tina Cohen-Chang

Location: Route 35, outside of Goldenrod

Date: Afternoon. Wednesday, August 28

Notes: Tina takes a stroll down Route 35, ends up taking an unexpected nap, and wakes up with a pink puffy prankster on her leg.

Thus, each day Tina set off down a new path, hoping to find some sort of solace outside of the city limits. On this particular day, Tina was headed down Route 35, feeling rather tired from yet another night tossing and turning and worrying about the consequences of the fire she had started in Azalea.

She had traveled a little ways down the route when she decided to duck off the main path and sit down with her back against a tree to eat the lunch Adam had made her pack for herself. She had a feeling that she would still be hearing from her friend to make sure she consumed her food, but at least she had remembered to embark with it on her person.

She began to feel drowsy as she chewed at the last bites of her food, not really having the greatest of appetites ever, much less of late. She was unsure why she was growing do sleepy, but she vaguely thought she heard the sound of a lullaby in the distance…

As she dreamed, the blaze at Kurt’s house haunted her, burning at the backs of her eyelids and leaping at her senses. She felt terrified, trapped inside of the dream, but at the same time the flames tickled her face, tempting her to giggle as she jolted back into a waking state.

And there before her was not a fire, but attached to her leg, a pink, puffy Pokemon. A Jigglypuff.

Well, that could certainly explain the sleepiness, she thought, recalling the soft hint of singing that she had been hearing. She smiled at the small creature, but it made an angry face at her, puffing out its cheeks and frowning.

Tina couldn’t help but notice that it was also carrying an open black permanent marker.

“Hey, wait a second…” Tina protested as the Pokemon angrily waved the marker in her direction as if she had done something wrong. She pulled out her Pokedex, attempting to use it as a mirror, and sure enough, the tickling had been the Jigglypuff drawing on her face. Tina now had what appeared to be a monocle and a mustache.

“Why you little!” Tina cried angrily, throwing the first thing that she could find at the Pokemon in frustration. It just so happened that that first thing she found was a spare Pokeball – the Jigglypuff appeared to have been going through her things as she napped, and the contents of her bag were now strewn everywhere, another consequence she would deal with later.

The Pokeball bounced off of the now-laughing Jigglypuff before springing open in a burst of light, and Tina watched as the Pokemon wiggled inside of the ball before giving up the fight and being captured.

“Great,” she muttered, rubbing her head and making a face. She hadn’t meant to catch another Pokemon – she had merely been angry at the pissed off pink cloud of a Pokemon. Now, though, the troublemaker was a part of her team.

She supposed it was a little bit cute, even if it was going to take her forever to wash this mess off of her face. And it was going to be awfully embarrassing to traipse back through town looking so ridiculous.

She sighed, picking up the Pokemon’s ball and sticking it into her backpack as she pulled a sun hat over her face and repacked her things. She ducked her eyes and avoided looking at anyone as she walked back to town, mulling over her catch and deciding to call the new Jigglypuff Torricelli.

Twelfth Night ➜ Solo Para

Who: Rachel Berry

When: August 25th, midday

Where: Route 31, Violet City

Notes: Rachel makes a little trip to tour along Route 31 while with Wendla and Tony when she runs into her newest companion.

It was quite the bland day, in Rachel's own eyes, as she had done a grand total of nothing. It really was quite the relaxing day although she knew that soon, she had to be getting back to training. While she wasn't going to be as intense concerning contests as she was in Ecruteak and was going to get some sleep at least, Rachel was not the type to be a 'slacker' or anything of the sort. After mulling a few things over, she decided to venture out of Violet City with both Wendla and Tony, her Abra perching himself on top of her shoulder while Wendla lay, nuzzled in her arms as Rachel rocked the Torchic back and forth. The last few days for her had been spent with a slightly bigger group consisting of Ryder, Sam, Kurt, Quinn, Caitlin and Jamie. Although she hadn't quite seen anyone as often as she had Quinn, the girl was quite content to be in such a large group of people who were all somewhat calm and had positive outlooks on life. It seemed as though Quinn had busied herself by spending the day with Ryder, so Rachel took that opportunity to go searching for a new member of her team if she came across any of the Pokémon that she aspired to catch someday - As Tugs had won his normal-rank contest and had advanced to the super-rank beauty contests, Rachel believed that what she would have to do was eventually leave Liza, Tony and Galinda in storage temporarily and perhaps try to train a few more Pokémon to get to her original three mons' levels of experience.

The girl was practically hopping along the path as she popped a sliced strawberry into Tony's mouth and then one into Wendla's, following the actions by tossing a whole strawberry into Rachel's own mouth. When she reached the green grass that made up Route 31, Rachel sighed as she stepped into the large patch of grass, cringing as she felt it up against her leg. She never did like that feeling of grass grazing against her bare legs, as it just felt odd. As she continued searching through the grass, she continued humming, thinking about the past few weeks and how they had gone for her. She realized that she was soon due to write her response to Cesario but didn't want to be too obvious with her location - She'd thought if she waited for a week, then 'Cesario' would simply assume that she was far off and got someone to deliver a letter to her. As Rachel continued mulling things over, she yet again got lost in her own world, failing to notice the sound of footsteps behind her. A chill ran up Rachel's spine the very second that she felt something nudging her back. The brunette flinched, yelping as she whirled around with wide eyes to face whatever it was that had demanded her attention. 

A shocked smile formed on her lips as she took in what had been disturbing her. Her eyes flickered with excitement as soon as a sparkle seemed to ignite inside the soft, warm hazel eyes of the Pokémon in front of her. The yellow planes of the Girafarig's face shone in the light as the parallels between the Girafarig's coat of fur and Cesario's outfit from the night of the Masquerade were brought to Rachel's attention.

"Well, hi there..." She cooed, reaching out to pet her warily as Wendla eyed the female Girafarig skeptically. Rachel was nothing short of surprised when Tony jumped off of her shoulder and onto his fellow psychic-type Pokémon's back. Tony rarely showed affection to anyone other than Rachel so to say that the girl was taken aback was an understatement. Before the girl knew it, the Girafarig seemed to let out a light snicker, poking her head down to unhook Rachel's satchel, starting to go through the bag before Rachel realized what was happening and leapt backwards, clutching her back to her as she giggled at the Pokémon's trouble-making antics. Rachel fumbled to reach for her bag, pulling a Poffin out clumsily before thrusting it towards the Girafarig. She beamed as the Pokémon gobbled it up and nibbled on her lower lip. Rachel always had wanted a Girafarig to call her own... After stroking the Girafarig's nose with her hand for a few moments, Rachel arched an eyebrow, trying to convey what she was thinking to the Girafarig. Her tale wagged excitedly as she nodded. "You sure, Ces?" The name easily slipped out of Rachel's lips - perhaps it was because she missed her Masquerade mistress after a few weeks of not seeing her. Rachel couldn't deny feeling lonely romantically, at times, but she genuinely did enjoy the other girl's company, feeling a swelling in her heart as she thought about it. This was just the way to help remind her of Cesario in another way. She decided just as she popped her empty Pokéball open and held it out to the Girafarig that naming her after her inspiration was only right. "Come along, Cesario!" Rachel called in a quiet tone of voice, doing her very best to not frighten the three Pokémon around her, Wendla crawling onto the top of Rachel's head as Tony clung to Rachel's legs from where he had teleported to the ground. A clicking sounded, followed by a few purple sparks appearing - That was much easier than she'd thought it would be. 

The girl couldn't help but grin as she tucked the ball into her satchel, a curious-looking Tony and a nearly asleep Wendla now the only ones other than Rachel present in the area. After shifting a bit to get more comfortable and making sure that she'd secured her newly-filled Pokéball where she had placed it, Rachel set out to make her journey back to Violet City, noting that she should definitely visit a Pokécenter first to see her impish new Girafarig's health status and to mix hera few Poffins to suit her nature accordingly.

Shrieks and Shuckles || Solo Para

Characters: Tina Cohen-Chang and Reichenbach the Drifloon

Location: Johto National Park

Date: Afternoon. Sunday, August 18

Notes: Tina enters the bug contest once more to punish herself for her actions in Azalea Town; she's once more chased down by Newton, but this time her former Venonat brings along a friend.

The dust – or rather, ash – had cleared in Azalea Town days ago to the sight of the slowpoke returned to the city and perched on top of the town gym. The image had cheered Tina up, had made her feel like perhaps following her orders from Team Rocket had been worthwhile after all… Until she had heard the news reports later.

She had ruined a man’s livelihood. She had crushed an old man’s dreams. She… She was horrible.

And now she had made it on to the next town, with her friends still oblivious and with no obvious repercussions to be paid except for her own ill-at-ease spirit.

The memories of the trees going up in flames haunt her. The screams from the townsfolk as they noticed what was going on. The look on her friend’s faces as they were ushered out, more afraid than any of them had been when it had just been a matter of well’s caving in and a man being found dead down at the bottom.

She had done that. And she was going to keep torturing herself for it forever.

But that wasn’t the only way she would continue torturing herself. When Adam announced that he would be entering the bug catching contest again in Goldenrod, Tina had merely nodded weakly and followed him. If she couldn’t move past what she had done, the least she could do was go distract herself with some terrifying bug Pokemon that she would probably never actually stop fearing anyway.

She parted with her companions just outside the entrance to the National Park, taking a bit of extra time to prepare herself mentally – and to choose which Pokemon she should trust with this mission. Last month, Schrodinger had turned out to be a very unhelpful companion indeed, leading her straight into a nest of Metapod in a futile attempt to escape from Netwon.

Tina idly wondered if Newton would be making a return appearance, biting her lip and deciding she really needed to just go into the park now before she chickened out. She pulled a Pokeball from her back, summoning Reichenbach, and the Drifloon floated beside her as they headed towards the gates.

Tina felt as though they had barely started down the main path when Reichenbach began to float off to the left, and Tina, remembering that that was the direction she had followed Schrodinger last time, shaked her head vehemently in protest. Nuh uh. No way is she heading straight towards another cocoon fest. She turns to the right instead, and when the Drifloon ignores her calls, she stomps down the path anyway, ignoring the Pokemon’s obstinance.

She didn’t blame Reichenbach for not wanting to listen to her, not really. Why should she, when Tina had no idea how to listen to her own heart? To her own sense of right and wrong?

It seemed that Tina was never going to learn not to get lost in her own thoughts – particularly during bug contests – because the next thing she knew, there was something attached to her leg. Something furry and purple and…

“EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!” Tina shrieked loudly, horrified to realize that Newton the Venonat had snuck up on her once again. She was never going to live down the fact that she had released this Pokemon in favor of a moonstone, was she? The little girl seemed determined to find her each time she set foot in the National Park.

At least she wasn’t angry – that had been a concern the last time the Pokemon had tried to hurtle itself at Tina, which was part of what had sent her sprinting down a path towards the unfortunately placed Metapod nest. Newton seemed to be smiling, however, and she was torn between the urge to reach down and pet her and the urge to frantically kick the Pokemon off of her leg.

She settled for staring at it, paralyzed by her fear of the purple creature who for now was eerily still, content to cling and to hug Tina’s jeans-clad leg.

She blinked, sure that the face she was making was absolutely horrible at the moment, but as her eyes roamed a bit further she saw that there was another bug there as well – an almost cute bug, timidly shuffling towards her, looking uncertainly at Newton.

A Shuckle. Newton was friends with a Shuckle.

Tina knew the fastest way to get out of here was to catch a Pokemon and to head back to the park gates, but she certainly had no desire to bring the clingy, rambunctious Venonat with her a second time. She looked down at the cuter bug, who really more resembled a turtle in Tina’s eyes anyway.

“Hi there, girl,” Tina said calmly, taking her one park ball out of her bag. “Hi there, I’m going to catch you so that we can get away from this  nutter, okay?” she asked, shaking the leg that Newton was attached to a bit in the hopes that she would let go. She didn’t, of course, and Tina cringed slightly, shaking with a bit more force as Reichenbach finally floated up beside her.

“Oh, now you join me,” she muttered darkly, but her mere presence seemed to have shooed Newton, at least. The Shuckle hadn’t retreated yet, but she now seemed to be shaking, and Tina tossed the park ball unceremoniously at the cute little creature, watching it close around the nervous Shuckle.

She scooped it up and headed towards the front gate again, talking to the Pokeball all the way as she mused through names and kept a wary eye out for the return of Newton. However, by the time she had finally emerged into the normal atmosphere again, she was still Newton free, and she had settled on naming the newest addition of her team after Jean-Henri Fabre. She hoped that the Shuckle would like it, because – well, perhaps this was one bug who might not be so horrid to have around after all.

That Scandalous Smy-- Skorupi?! || Bug Catching Contest

Who: Sebastian Smythe, Cinna, and one Skorupi

When: August 18th

Where: National Park

What: Sebastian and Cinna decide to enter the bug catching contest, where Sebastian has a bad run in with an incredibly poisonous little bug.

Notes: Not naming this guy yet so Mel can dishonor my cow.

Sebastian entering the bug contest was more of a coincidence than anything. He had been out on the route leading to the park when Cinna noticed all the people heading inside and the Minccino was very vocal about how he wanted to spend their day. The egotistical little pokemon was soon rewarded, since they were immediately swarmed by a gaggle of curious tourists. Sebastian was used to this by now and put on a smile, answering simple questions for a moment about what type of pokemon he had and what his name was. Cinna adored the attention, stroking people with his tail and fluffing his fur out to make himself look even more adorable. He chattered and waved at the people who he couldn’t reach, climbing all over Sebastian’s head in an attempt to get to as many people as he possibly could. Sebastian rolled his eyes, deciding to tolerate it for a moment.

That moment was soon over. Sebastian was used to this, of course, but that didn’t mean he wanted to deal with this right now. This was supposed to be a contest, and if there was a contest he planned on winning it. He considered himself fairly apt at hunting down and capturing pokemon, especially with Cinna, so even though this had been a last minute decision he planned on doing well.

Sebastian pushed his way through the crowd of people, figuring he would need to if he planned on actually catching any pokemon. It would be interesting to see what he could find in the National Park, especially since this was an area that people didn’t get to capture in very often. No telling what might be lurking around. Cinna was a little pouty about having to leave all of his adoring fans, but Sebastian kept him calmed down.

It was around then that everything started to go downhill. Once again a pokemon seemed to be incredibly fascinated with Sebastian’s jeans, as he suddenly felt a small tug on his pants. But this pokemon’s intentions were a lot clearer- and less innocent- than his Slowpoke’s, as the Skorupi that was now gripping onto his leg had popped out of the sandy ground he had wandered over onto thinking that Sebastian was his latest piece of prey.

He felt a momentary stinging pain in his ankle and before he had time to react, it was like his legs didn’t even exist anymore. He mentally told himself that that was ridiculous, but then the ground was quickly approaching him and everything seemed to be a slow motion blur. The last thing he heard was Cinna’s squeal before he blacked out, hitting the ground hard.

Sebastian wasn’t really sure how long he had been out when he came to. His head felt heavy and fuzzy, vision unfocused as he blinked and tried to take in where he was. He could feel Cinna’s tail wrapped gently around his neck, along with his nose nuzzling against his ear as he tried his best to fix whatever was wrong with his trainer. He reached up with a slightly unsteady head to stroke the Minccino’s fur, still feeling incredibly disoriented.

“You okay?” he heard a strange voice say, and he glanced up to take in the on hand medic that was crouched beside him.

“Yeah,” he breathed, trying to remember what had happened or where he even was. Propped up against a tree somewhere, that was really all he knew for sure.

“That Skorupi got you pretty good,” the medic said, lightly scratching his arm. “Poison sets in quick, but we had plenty of antidote on hand. You should be fine in five, ten more minutes.” Sebastian watched as the other man’s eyes flicked downward and he followed them, taking in the Skorupi that was curled up on his stomach, his strong little teeth grasping at the lose material of the trainer’s shirt to keep himself in place. “I think you’ve caught yourself a pokemon. Just be a little more careful, alright? Think about pokemon habitats when you’re steppin’.”

Sebastian nodded a little, too confused to really say anything else, his eyes still on the pokemon as the other man walked away. He exhaled, shaking his head in an attempt to clear it. Cinna’s whimpering subsided now that he could see that his trainer was okay. Sebastian dug one of the park balls out of his bag, glad that most of his items had been taken from him. Cassius would have a fit if he saw him like this. He located one of the balls after groping around his bag for a while, looking from it to the Skorupi. The pokemon opened his eyes and he thought he might have seen it smile at him before he tapped the park ball against it, pulling the Skorupi into it. The ball wiggled for a moment before clicking shut, signaling a successful capture. Sebastian relaxed back against the tree, letting his head fall back against it with a thunk.

Well. That definitely hadn’t been the kind of contest experience he had expected, but as the saying went, there were multiple ways to catch a pokemon.
