idc how you guys feel about jesse st. james, but can we all agree his parents are terrible? like, i'm pretty sure in s2 he says that he is their favourite and that his sblings are struggling bc of this.

i believed they don't truly love jesse, either. they probably only view him as a trophy and only care when he's succeeding.

I think they could have played with it better by having the all the kids attend prom for the dancing and having fun and all, and then all leave together before the actual like king and queen announcements and all go to the anti prom or just hang out or something. It would have been a nice subversion of the previous prom where they were basically split up (thinking of the pairs they splintered into), would have like hammered home that whole idea of them being above popularity competitions, and honestly it would have been a fun scene to see them all goofing off together (a la Ride Wit Me). Also, it would be cool that we the audience never finds out who won, making a kind of open ending

This ask made me contend with my strong feelings around anti prom as it is on the show but I won't digress with that. Suffice it to say I agree with Santana and find it funny that, apart from choking at her audition what spurs this on for Rachel is a reignited fear of Fuinn. Rachel honey not only are they both in love with you but Finn hates Quinn enough to want to wrestle her out of a wheelchair. I think you're good.

So anyway, I really love this! I like the idea that Klaine would convince Rachel to go to prom but walk out before the announcement and convince all the other ND as the night goes on. A lot of them don't mind, Santana's convinced because Brittany is willing to leave the prom she organized, but Quinn's the toughie. She goes "b-b-but... Prom Queen!" and struggles not to give away her planned miracle moment. It's ultimately Rachel, obviously, who convinces her that she doesn't need the validation of prom because she's pretty and the ideal candidate sure but also much stronger and much more complex than what could ever be appreciated through something as trivial as prom. And so, just as Figgins taps the mic and prepares for his announcement, ND are leaving to go to the choir room/auditorium and Rachel looks back longingly, reluctant to leave a torn Quinn behind. Quinn bites her lips, looks between the stage and Rachel and makes her decision, leaving before Figgins can finish listing the nominees. As he lists "Quinn Fabray', we see Quinn roll away and leave the gym, the door shutting behind her and the screen going black.

Next scene, ND having fun in the choir room/auditorium and Quinn looks around in the middle of the song, panning shot of all her friends, and decides that this miracle moment is worth so much more within the intimacy of the Glee Club, people who actually care about her. And so she stands, tentatively, from her wheelchair and everyone applauds, celebrating this milestone in her recovery and their own version of prom where they reinforce the club's theme of found family and only how strong they are together mattering. You know, unlike how canon reinforced the status quo mattering instead and validated the prom titles instead of declaring that those don't count for shit when you have people who actually love you for who you are.

Ok so I have some notes for every season. Also some notes I may have just come up with right now lmao.

Though, it’s only notes and we will see if it actually gets into the plot.

Season 1:

Highkey Brittana moments no one notices because heteronormativity ™️

Lowkey Faberry moments everyone except Rachel and Quinn (and Finn) notices because suddenly heteronormativity doesn’t exist

Who’s Mr. Schue?? A character on a preschool morning show??? Or what?

Distraught and pregnant Quinn

Matt gets more screentime yay

Something happened in freshman year with Rachel and Quinn and we might find out what or we might not

Puck sings the into to Phineas and Ferb as his audition song

Season 2:

Quinn is feeling down for obvious reasons and this girl needs therapy

Ok everyone needs therapy but she needs it the most

Keeping that Faberry scene the writers cut in 2x16 like i’m gonna write it word for word from the leaked script

Kurt and Blaine met on an online roleplay forum and it turns out both of them randomly reference it irl without any of their friends understanding and that’s how they bond??????????????

Kurt does not switch schools to Dalton and Sue Sylvester is actually taking big responsibility to make sure Kurt is not bullied

Brittana is more lowkey after santana realised she’s a lesbian and now people seem to vaguely understand what’s going on

Mike tries to make Sam the new Matt bc he misses Matt and Sam is like *does a voice impression and takes his shirt off randomly*

Season 3:

Either Finn outs Santana and gets hell of a lot of consequences for it or he does not out her and is supportive without forcing anyone out of the closet

Undecided: Blaine moves to Mckinley like in canon or he does not and klaine continues as usual

Skank Quinn is here but it’s more like a look and attitude rather than ”I want my baby back fuck you imma join a gang”

No finchel wedding but just like Rory said: Quinn texts and drives in every timeline

Though she is in a wheelchair for atleast the rest of the season, but still stands up once in prom because that was a too cute moment for me to not include

Maybe letting Joe do more stuff not only in this but in the upcoming seasons too because what did he really get to do ? Also when was he in Glee and when was he not?

Even though Brittany was great in s4, I still want her to graduate with her class and maybe like. Struggle a bit but eventually passing.

Season 4:

Oohboy most changes are happening here

I’m switching the s4 and the s6 newbies except for Marley and Unique who get to stay

WHICH MEANS 1,5 SEASONS WITH CHAOS TWINS CHAOS TWINS

Madison is a lesbian, the end

All breakups happen but they are more resonable and healthy

If Blaine does not switch to mckinley in s3, then he’s still hanging out with the kids there and the Blam content is wild

I don’t know if Marley would have an eating disorder now that Kitty isn’t there, but if she does then it’s handled much better

Wemma wedding is happening and they get married bc I can’t deal with Will’s drama

Quinntana sleep def happens!! And it makes Quinn... realise some stuff. If she could do it with her best friend without problem, then she could...

Rachel is actually pregnant - does not keep it - lots of emotions for her bc of it - makes her relationship with Quinn stronger - also makes you want to root for her to get Fanny Brice

Giving Finn a proper and satisfying storyline before... yeah.

Season 5:

Saying goodbye to Finn... 💔

No one has seen Brittany for months and then she just shows up and was like ”I was kidnapped by scientists but i’m good now”

Klaine wedding happens in this and all season is to prepare for it

Rachel slaying it on Broadway and does not quit

Sure she can find it tiresome in some episode but she does not quit

While we don’t follow the newbies after graduation we do know what happened to them

Season 6:

Guess what: The old newbies has not quit!

So the New Directions are now Jane, Madison, Mason, Roderick, Spencer, Alistair, Marley, Unique, Kitty, Jake and Ryder. Later also Myron

Tho they don’t have very big roles anymore but they are happy to have a Glee club again

Rachel did not quit Funny Girl, but something happened at the production that made them cancel it or smth

So she and Kurt decide to help Mr. Schue (who still works at Mckinley) to reinstate the Glee club again as their NYADA job thing

Brittana’s wedding is mostly exactly like canon except that it’s just them.

Since Klaine is not broken up anymore, and neither is Brittana, you know who Sue is gonna ship? That’s right: Faberry

Quinn and Rachel have both been busy with school and Broadway and stuff and haven’t really been seeing each other but Sue has seen enough alright

Faberry in an elevator is gonna be chaotic guys

Last episode is gonna show how it went for all of them and not only like. Klaine and Rachel and Tartie.

so glee rewriters!! do you make your rewrite dramatic or comedic? or maybe a mix between the two?

i'm debating whether to add Shooting Star into the rewrite or not. at first, i was planning the fic to be comedic, but now i may make it more dramatic to acknowledge the events that never were.

at the same time, i feel like if i do add shooting star, ill be forced to write about every single thing that was never addressed.

what do you think santana’s coming out would have been like if she hadn’t been outed?

Oh man that's a question and a half. I was legit so thrown off by that. Not in a bad way! Always appreciate Santana questions, always. I just spend so much time being mad about what actually happened and being absolutely appalled by Glee dropping the ball this badly, it's hard to even approach the topic without that in mind. Even while thinking about this I caught myself wanting to curse the canon events out multiple times. But I'll show restraint and pretend, for a few blissful minutes, that season 3 doesn't exist the way it does. This post is going to be more of what I would have liked to see instead of what realistically could have happened because Glee lost out on my willingness to care about their established boundaries when they vomited The Outing scene onto my screen.

In my ideal world, Santana would have been allowed the baby steps she deserved. Sure, she was way deep in the closet in season 2 but by the end we see progress. She's so clearly isn't ready yet and that's fine, in this timeline we're not pressuring her in any way. It's early season 3 and she and Brittany are officially together but only they know it. It's a bit of an open secret in the Glee Club, too, but everyone, and I mean everyone knows better than to think it's any of their business. Around the time of one of the the Troubletones rehearsals Mercedes catches Brittana making out and Santana freaks out, initially. Brittany reassures her that Mercedes is their friend and it's fine and later we get a Sancedes scene. Santana at first tries to deflect but Mercedes lets her know that she isn't there to judge or anything, she just gives the advice that Santana would be happier if she embraced herself and all that usual Glee speech. After the Troubletones WRONGFULLY lose Sectionals and Quinn gets the girls back and Santana sees how ND welcomes them with open arms, she makes a decision.

It feels safer to make a public Glee announcement first. They sing a duet with Brittany and Britt does the talking because Santana is more comfortable letting the song (Melissa Etheridge's Come to My Window, maybe?) speak for her. No one is shocked but they're all supportive, especially the people who matter (*cough* the girls and Klaine *cough*). Will tries to make a speech, blah blah, it's just a wholesome scene. Ideally a Kurtana scene follows because this is my headcanon I do what I want.

Now people who already sort of knew are in the clear but it's limited to the Glee Club and none of them blabber to other students, particularly not in the hallway because they're good people who love and support Santana. Based on Santana's heartbreaking "I haven't even told my parents yet" I'm going to choose to infer that she was thinking about it. She's terrified and needs a Pierce family dinner, together with a supportive Whitney and Pierce Pierce to convince her she's ready for this. We get to see the actual scene, around Christmas time, with Gloria Estefan and Dr. Lopez and it's emotional but cathartic. They're with Santana, no matter what, though her dad does have an ominous line about Alma. Not in a rude way but in a way when a parent fears what might await their kid. Santana staunchly refuses the subject of Abuela and asks her parents not to say anything to anyone.

The school year goes on. Valentine's Day comes around and following some homophobic shenanigans at McKinley and Figgins revealing the same double standard as he did in Heart, somehow, Santana decides to take a stand. She kisses Brittany very publicly in school one day and maybe we do get a slightly altered version of the Heart God Squad storyline. Except she gets to beat up Joe because I said so. All is relatively well. Santana and Brittany are now practically out to the school and Santana shows concern every now and then, but she feels lighter. This timeline actually deals with the fact that she wouldn't suddenly have no fears about being out and jerks exist, but it's easier that she did it on her own terms and not through a political ad.

Regionals rolls around and Dave is outed. I'm sorry David in this timeline your fate is unfortunately still the same. We get the attempt but thankfully Dave survives and recovers. Santana visits him in the hospital, they have a conversation and it makes her realize that life's too short to be terrified of who she is. The final puzzle piece in this portion of her coming out story? Abuela Alma. And so Santana goes to her grandmother, tells her about having had time to reflect and the coming out goes much the same as it did in the only valid IKAG scene. And Alma rejects her much the same, breaking Santana's heart and causing her to lash out at the people who have been supporting her these past few months. After the initial shock of just having been disowned, she picks herself up and thinks about Dave and how she can't let others' opinions of her define her life. Santana's clearly shaken from the experience and it gets brought up time and again but she marches on.

Santana starts college and decides she's going to be upfront from the first moment on. She tells people about her girlfriend, how proud of her she is, how much she loves Brittany. When they break up, the strength fades as Santana already wasn't feeling the whole Louisville vibe. Canon events ensue, and when she moves to New York she gets to truly just be herself and live her sexuality for the first time. That doesn't just mean sleeping around, thought some of that too. When she gets together with Dani and meets her cool queer friends, Santana feels at peace. It took a minute, but she's fine with casually dropping the word lesbian and introducing herself as, well, herself.

I know that last bit wasn't necessary for the coming out journey itself but it's good for my soul to think about. I can't say what I've written is tremendously exciting but imo it's what she damn well deserved. This didn't actually answer your question in that I don't think this is what would have happened; Glee demonstrated that they had no desire to follow through on Santana's story with the care it deserved. But it is what I'd like to think.
