The cutest thing I've ever seen was at Sogen Con. My boyfriend cosplayed as No Face from Spirited Away and a little girl came up to him to say hi. He had a hard time seeing her with the huge mask and the fact she was so short, so he spun around like a dog chasing its tail. Finally he saw her and offered her "gold" (rocks painted gold). She knew better than to take it and it was adorable to watch!
