Glittens
A year ago I started knitting two pairs of glittens, one in solid black and the other in this multicolor red, blue, yellow, and green yarn.
I didn’t finish them until this month, and in sunlight I saw that the black pair was navy blue with one black cuff. I knit them again in actual black yarn. I finished the multicolor pair this week, but the yarn is slightly lighter weight and they're just a little small on me. I also had to add yarn to thumb and finger tips, so they’re just not comfortable. I’ll end up reknitting those as well.
It’s not like I haven't knit my mother's Glitten pattern before. My first pair was more than 10 years ago in the Huckleberry colorway of Mountain Colors' Mountain Goat. Over the years I also knit a matching hat and cowl. I knit a pair for the holidays in a medium tan, one with a broad green stripe and thumb and the other with a broad red stripe and thumb. The third pair, in this sort of zebra gray and white yarn, has a red stripe across one glitten to accompany a scarf in the same yarn with a blood red stripe at one end.
Here's hoping that in 2025 I’ll rise from the ashes of 2024.
