for what it's worth, i use to have pretty severe arachnophobia (panic attacks just from the thought of a spider being near me) but your constant posts of Spider Facts along with the debunking of spiders being so venomous and your appreciation for their beauty and value in nature really helped me start getting over that fear, and these days i can look at pictures of spiders without immediately feeling like i'm gonna die, so thanks for spreading your arachnid propaganda~
I hear this a lot lately and I’m really glad it helps because when something that common feels that scary it can prevent you from enjoying a lot of things. It used to be how scared I was of ticks! I know they’re actually a pretty rational fear with how bad some pathogens are but it was so severe I spent a lot of my childhood just never setting foot outside and I wish I hadn’t missed out on so much.Since I guess I need to always say this though (when I thought I’d always made it clear?!) some people can still have bad reactions to some spiders, there just aren’t any “one bite and you’re fucked” spiders like there are some rare snakes, jellyfish, and at least one seriously evil tree. Any bite or scratch from an animal, even (or sometimes especially) a nonvenomous animal should get antibiotic ointment on it and if it just gets worse, it probably needs extra attention! But there also aren’t hardly any animals that will attack for no reason, except maybe larger mammals, but they’re not even .5% of the animal kingdom so I’m gonna stick with the “hardly any” phrasing!
