The shadows shift and swirl before you, the writhing tendrils looking suspiciously like hands. They reach towards you, clawed digits splayed, and you find yourself thinking they look as if they’re expecting something from you.

The shadows are once again ready to receive your questions...

Frisk as they appear in Gloamtale. Their character information is under the cut.

If you were to ask any of Frisk’s peers they would tell you Frisk is a strange kid. Quiet, polite, and well behaved—but there's this sense of unease about them that tends to unsettle most.

Frisk comes from a family that has good intentions but is severely lacking in the warmth and care a child needs. Their father is almost always away from home and their mother is always working. When they see her, she is often tired and resting. She is kind, though, and what moments they spend together are tender and loving but unfortunately Frisk’s parents' busy schedule leaves them alone more often than not.

Well behaved but with an adventurous streak, Frisk often spends their leisure time outside of school playing outside and exploring their surroundings. Their family moves around a lot and as such, there is always something and somewhere to explore.

One thing that Frisk has learned, however, is to never speak of the strange things they see. Their mother would believe them, undoubtedly, being a rather superstitious woman, but whenever they would try to tell other kids their own age about the strange shadows lurking around, or ask if Jessi knew he was being followed by a four-legged, pitch black creature, they were always rebuked. Lashed out at, made fun of—Frisk never received a good reaction from others about the strange things they would see and so they learned to keep to themself.

It is when Frisk is wandering and exploring the forest outside of their most recent move that they discover something strange. Something... more.

Frisk is able to see the Ebott shadow monsters, who are trapped within the confines of the town. As time goes on they are able to cross the boundary between the human world and that of the shadow monsters.

So we got on the topic of yandere Umbra on my server and well...

I don’t think I’ll ever properly finish this so I figured I’d share it as is. Anyway, here’s something I sketched out and posted on discord around a week ago--a hypothetical chain of evolution for Sans in the Gloamtale AU were he to become fully corrupted by over-indulging in human souls.

As far as canon is concerned Umbra won’t ever get past the second stage, where he is now, but it’s fun to play around with what ifs. Umbra used to be so smol... so innocent.
