Just a quick doodle and style experiment, and another excuse to try out brushes lol. Initially I was gonna draw him slightly different, for an AU; but in the end, I decided not too. So instead it's just regular pre-canon stuff.

An AU that's been floating in and out of my head for a few years. I wanted to take Zuko's devotion and crank it up to 1000%. Kinda OOC I guess, but I got inspired by this 1 doujin artist (different fandom), to just take 1 element from a character and turn it on all the way.xD
I've been sort of torn between this being comedic or really messed up.:-3 For these doodles, it's in the toxic route.xD
I imagine for this AU, Zuko's always been extremely devoted to his father, even excusing the abuse and quest to find the Avatar as just "tests" of his loyalty. In his mind, everyone has left him in some way, yet his father was always this (fucked up) constant in his life, so he's equated that as being "proof" of his "love".
But once he saw that wanted poster of himself, he either realized he was never loved or thinks he's been abandoned again. For a while, he wondered if it was another "test", but on the other, he just wants to die.
Then queue in Jet when Zuko feels he's at his lowest point, and wow this guy is so nice to him, and sees him as just another human being deserving of friends. And he finds himself strangely comforted for the first time in his life.
Aaaand then he's convinced that Jet is his real "destiny"; that his father was a "trial" if you will, and that fate and everything else that happened in-between led him to meeting Jet.
When they reach Ba Sing Se, Zuko is committed to do everything and anything for Jet. At first Jet doesn't realize or notice how unhealthy Zuko's devotion is, but others start to notice. His uncle is noticing the same pattern of obsession, the same one he had when trying to track down the Avatar. It was the first time since they saw that wanted poster that Zuko had any light in his eyes though. So he wonders if he's trying to "regain his honour" again. So he confronts him about it, and he point blank says he doesn't care about Ozai anymore, and could die for all he cared. Which uh does shock Iroh.xD
With this new obsession, Jet is a lot more, if you will, active in his responses than Ozai ever was, which just cranks up Zuko's devotion and obsession more and more. He's willing to throw everything that ever was important to him, and burn it all just for Jet. He also starts having ~lustful~ thoughts, and wants everything of Jet to himself.
Theeeen I'm not sure how, but Jet finds out that Zuko is the ex-Fire Prince. I'm not entirely sure what happens just yet, but I've been thinking that Jet does still get taken away by the Dai Li, and it's there that he sees what his country has been doing and feels betrayed. But before they can even brainwash him, Zuko saves him and leaves behind a trail of corpses behind him.
Jet's at a crossroad of sorts at one point; he wonders if he should kill Zuko, since he's right there, or if he should manipulate and use him, to help him kill the Fire Lord. He ends up choosing to use Zuko for his own gain, which Zuko either knows, or takes it as a "sign" that Jet loves him and will never leave him (which yes, makes the obsession even worse lol).
Everyone else is creeped out and terrified of the lengths this guy will go for Jet, even at the cost of his own life. Jet doesn't care, he's more confused than anything, but if it can help him get revenge, whatever!
But I like to think at some point, Jet sees just how much Zuko is willing to burn everything down just for him. And I'm thinkingggggg something just snaps into place for him, and he finds himself growing a bit possessive over Zuko at some point?:-3
Maybe it turns out to become a yandere x yandere trope OR at the very least, Jet is very into the idea of this kinda creepy but very hot guy being so in love with him, that he's willing to kill the both of them just to be ~together for eternity~. (Yes, Jet is just as toxic as Zuko in this AU; just the build up is slower lol)
I'm wondering if they both end up forsaking everyone, and fall deeper and deeper into this mutual obsession and end up ruining so many of their relationships (Zuko because of his obsession with Jet, Jet because of his obsession with revenge, and later Zuko), where they're only left with each other. Like I wonder where that'd take them. Hmmm....
As for this drawing specifically, idk how often Zuko would make those kinda facial expressions; I imagine him usually look really stone faced here. But idk I liked the idea of him creeping Jet out a bit.xD Also idk why he has no shirt I forgot to draw it ig lol. As for Jet, this is still in his phase of "wow this guy's fucked" loool.

AHAHA I can't believe I'm this much of a loser. Suggest you check out the previous drawing to get a bit of context? But for those who don't want too: Jetko AU, Jet is a major sap and his whipped for Zuko, and Zuko is sort of cold towards him but is also uwu for him. And yes, this line is a pun because Jet is a master thief (and a loser).
And LMFAO I managed to sneak in a butterfly in there again oof;;; Also, yes this came out a bit shoujo-y. I mean...look at my username bro? I didn't use any refs this time around, bc I was tired from the other drawing and just wanted to do something quick/fun. And for the record, I seriously have 0 clue wtf I'm doing?? NO clue how to make a comic nor use the manga tools in csp. This humbled me a lot;;;; /and yes I couldn't be bothered with the last page lol
A veryyy specific-to-my-tastes AU. And eh, idk what to call it.xD Victorian ig, since that was the vibe I was going for (though, I am not an expert on historical fashion, so I might have gotten some stuff wrong!).
I'm still not sure on Zuko's hair, but I decided to really play around with it!:-) It's pretty cute I think, though likeeee I realized it's very similar to Andre's (!!!!<3333) so not surprised there.xD For Jet, kept it pretty simple; but lol I can't draw hats fml.
So the premise is that Zuko is a noble and Jet working class; still debating if I want Jet to be some random guy Zuko later meets (like at a rally about inequality), or if Jet worked at Zuko's manner since childhood. Both would be soooooo good (and yes, would make it tragic or at least angsty!!>:-3)
Also, this was a little challenge to myself to just sit down and draw, and not worry about perfecting it.:-) I have a tendency of zooming in all the time, or spending a lotttt of time, over thinking stuff, etc etc. So I challenged myself to just let go; and yk, I had a lot of fun and I'm really happy with this! I got to indulge in drawing cute Jetko and shoujofying it.:-33

Can I just take the moment to say, that I love this AU so so much!!!TAT It's just sooo much fun. I love them being partners in crime aaaaa!!
Anyways, I wanted to definitely draw them super cool and dangerous looking.:-3 I liked the idea of Zuko looking indifferent and cold, and Jet being possessive, clingy, and willing to kill a lot for Zuko.:-33 I also sneaked in a bit of imagery in there of their dynamic: Zuko -> King of Hearts, Jet -> Joker. (Cause, you know, Joker beats all cards + gives a good Top!Jet analogy hehe)
Also, I love drawing blood!!!!! I love love love Jetko covered in blood especially, hell yea!!!!!

I've started watching Escaflowne for the first time (currently at ep19 as I'm writing this), and would y'all believe that it's been on my to watch list for at least 20 years now?T.T Yes...I take a very long time getting around to things lol. (I can't help it! I can only watch things if I'm in a specific mood, emotionally ready and/or desperate to feel something!!)
But anyways, is anyone remotely surprised that so far my fav character is the moody prince with dark hair and a sad past? And with angel (technically dragon) wings to boot!? oof it was over for me...
Mad at my past self for not watching this sooner, because I would have gone absolutely feral for this series when I was younger. Like, I'm talking about making shrines and self-insert fanart here.xD Oh well, I'm here now.:-V
I can't say who I ship who with yet either, but there's plenty of great ships floating around.:-3 But I'll wait till the end to see what I love the most!
ANYWAYS yea it's a really amazing series. Like, I haven't been this glued/invested in a new series for a while now. It encapsulates and captures a lot of specific tastes and story telling that I love dearly. The character and world building is especially amazing!!
